Great AC shop, and you can save a bunch of money by doing some of the work yourself (they'll sell you parts, you install and then come back for the evac and charge)... My Jeep had 2 leaks, condenser and high pressure hose, I took the parts off, they rebuilt the hose and sold me a condenser, I installed and they recharged the system, saved about $200 and now the air is 38 degrees! read more

Love this place!!! AC stopped blowing cold in April, I was 8 months pregnant, really bad timing. I had to bring my kiddos with me to get a diagnostic, and they had a big family friendly waiting area for us to be in (kids even got homework done) for the short time it took them to diagnose. $50 to diagnose but the $50 would be applied to any work they did. Was hoping the van just needed some coolant (had already unsuccessfully tried to add some myself, thought I might have been doing it wrong) but was not so lucky, and the whole compressor needed to be replaced. I had just got this van, 150k miles on it (apparently the approximate lifespan of a compressor) and was not thrilled about having to spend over a thousand dollars to fix something with it this soon, so we toughed it out for a few more weeks, outside temp finally got in the 90s and I was getting bigger and bigger, and would soon have a baby to be transporting in this PHX heat, so I started shopping around. Nobody else came close in price, all other quotes were hundreds more. Brought the van in, they had it finished the same day, and I've never experienced a colder air flow. They charged the exact amount they quoted me, -$50 diagnostic fee. Also, huge factor for me, FAMILY OWNED AND OPERATED!The son took care of the van when I brought it in for the diagnosis, the father was there when I dropped it off for the repair/replacement. Sorry, couldn't remember the names...Both were extremely helpful and knowledgeable, and just genuinely good people. The father also mentioned that they do 10k mile oil changes, $90. I always pay over $30 for a synthetic oil change, and get one every 3k miles--or else the stupid warning lights won't turn off and make me paranoid while driving, especially with this extreme heat-- anywho, my oil light recently came on, so I'll be making a trip back soon! read more

AZ Auto Air is AWESOME!!!!!!! I had my 98 ford explorer at 2 other shops before I found AZ Auto. I wish I could name them, OK I will PEP and double A honk honk. They couldn't figure it out. Both shops wanted double the amount that AZ Auto Air charged. AZ Auto Air had my vehicle for less tan 24 hours to solve my electrical problem. Now I have been in the automotive business for over 25 years both as a mechanic and a shop manager. Since I'm not able to work on my own cars, I needed to find a reputable shop. Well I found one. they found a short in my dashboard, didn't try to sell me any major A/C work and only charged me $200.00 for the repair! In my opinion Arizona Auto Air were the most professional, competent and honest auto repair shop regardless of specialty which I have ever visited. I chose to give them a try based entirely on these Yelp reviews, and I certainly was not disappointed! I am very mechanical/auto, savvy having done many major car repairs over the years, and because of that know when I am being bs'd. Steve , the owner, diagnosed the problem accurately, set out my options, which basically was that I needed a new compressor, which was correct. I knew that and had taken the vehicle in for an ac evacuation and recharge as I was unsure of the actual amount of refrigerant that remained in the system and I did not want to make things worse by adding the wrong amount myself. This truck is only driven 3000 miles a year, but when you need a truck you need one with good ac. Steve did what I asked and did not pressure me into replacing the compressor at that time, but gave me a written fair price quote for such replacement along with a discount if I had it done within a year. That was a month ago. I went in there with 85 F coming out of the vents, and left with 55F! I Drove it last week and the ac is still cold! If I decide to keep the truck I will have the compressor replaced and after my experience would not even think of going anywhere else, even if (or particularly) they quoted me half the price. A by the way, is that the shop and waiting room were more like a hospital waiting room, (or better). Immaculate, spotless, and even had free Kuerig coffee! read more

Came here recently because my AC compressor seemed to stop working after checking the relays and visibly confirming the AC clutch was not engaging. Sure enough they were able to diagnose the problem in 30 minutes to be the compressor as expected. After mulling over the idea of having their shop perform the work for a few days on my now 180k mile, dying vehicle I couldn't justify spending that much for them them to do the work so being the avid DIYer I am for most auto-repair I mentioned I planned to perform the repair at home and while the manager cautioned me on the amount of work it would be and the common pitfalls to watch out for he was still very helpful in explaining what I'd need to do as if they were doing the repair in their shop which was very helpful, he even offered to help me source the parts locally at a discount but I already received them in the mail and he even offered to let me call for help if I ran into any problems. I brought the vehicle back in for a refrigerant discharge which they did for free before starting the repair. All in all, friendly staff (thanks Brianna) and trustworthy people, I would bring my vehicle back here for future diagnostics or servicing for tasks I'm not up to performing. read more

Very bad experience here. Bait and switch on quotes, incorrect diagnosis and I have two NEW car issues since I left their shop. Coincidence? Ask yourself, would your trust a shop like that? One of the parts they replaced is no good and I need to replace it-ONE WEEK LATER! It's under warranty but I am going to eat the price I paid because there is NO way I would ever let these people touch my car again! I will go to my regular mechanic. And STAY there. Tread VERY carefully with these people and beware them telling you there is something that needs repair that you had zero symptoms of prior to visiting their shop! Whew. read more

We recently moved from out-of-state and searched the internet for a local shop to inspect and repair our A/C on our Suburban and found that AZ Auto Air advertised a FREE A/C inspection. Although they typically do not take appointments (except for Saturdays), we did not have long of a wait. A thorough diagnostic evaluation showed that we needed to replace a condenser that would have cost around $800, but Steve suggested a more affordable option of replacing a small part that still gave us acceptable results. Normally, we'd have to wait for parts to be ordered, but because this place specializes in A/C, they had the parts that were needed. We were very pleased with the exceptional and honest service we received, as well as the affordable cost of repair. Additionally, we paid by cash instead of credit/debit and received an additional discount. We have an appointment with them on Monday to have routine maintenance services that they offer, as well. read more

My husband was driving my car, when smoke began coming out from under the hood. Turned out the smoke was due to a worn out clutch on my Air Conditioning system. The closest NAPA Auto Parts store was where my husband headed and they recommended AZ Auto Air to him, so he visited Steve at AZ Auto Air, and Steve gave him a great quote on what it would take to replace the compressor for my Air Conditioning and the clutch for my A/C, too, of $420.00 I took my car in a day or two later, Steve fit me in, even though I called midway through the day, and got it fixed and stuck to his quote, too. I have really cold air conditioning now. I also asked Steve if they could replace my valve cover gaskets, both left and right, that were leaking. Again, I got a very reasonable quote, AZ Auto Air got it fixed very quickly, and again stuck to their quote, even though it proved to be more troublesome than they initially thought it would be. I was very satisfied with the way I was treated. Nice shop, friendly. Very professional yet down to earth. They seem like they care about how they treat their customers and whether the customer will be a repeat customer. I would recommend them to anyone. A few days later, I found myself calling them late on a Saturday afternoon, to see if they could put a new battery in for me and after I got there, we realized I had a squealing serpentine belt, so AZ Auto Air installed both of those for me, too, on very short notice. I am pretty happy with them. They have a long list of all the kinds of repairs they can do, not just Air Conditioning repairs.
