They might have made all the days pancakes at 5 am and heat them up in a microwave throughout the day. How do you mess up eggs?? Over medium eggs were so runny, not worth sending back. They couldn't even get three peoples food out at the same time and the waiter brings out two plates and says no telling when the last plate of food will come out..they haven't even started it. Went here last weekend, forgot to leave review. Got seated right away, ordered food as soon as we sat down and had it at our table in less than 5 mins. Crazy fast speed, the place had a line out the door once we got our food so it was nice to get in and out that fast. She got the potato cakes with bacon, I got chicken fried steak. The place is what is in the name says, it is a diner inside. The food however is excellent as are the prices. The portions are very large. What I came here for was the Greek food. The Greek food is outstanding! It is obviously made from scratch and it is very tasty. The dolemades have a ton of meat stuffed inside and have a lemon sauce. The spanakopita was a large portion and very flakey with a lot of stuff inside also. The gyros were large and stuffed full with meat and fresh veggies. You cannot go wrong with the Greek stuff here! We have been loyal customers of Nick's Diner II for 8 years, going there anywhere from 3 to 5 times a week in the past. Things definitely changed earlier this year when Nick decided to retire and brought in a new co-owner. This place was always packed, especially on weekends and Friday nights with lines out the door. Now they are lucky to be half full. About a month or so after the new owner started running things we noticed the quality of the food coming out of the kitchen dropping (Nick was always working with the kitchen staff and keeping them in line). Food started coming out wrong, undercooked, overcooked, and in the case of toast with our breakfasts, usually burnt on one side while barely toasted on the other. The waitstaff has continued to be excellent and has always done its best to remedy the unsatisfactory food in the kitchen; I have no beef with the waitstaff. We finally started only going there on Friday nights for their fish fry and they were not able to be consistent with that either. For instance, last Friday I received 1 full piece of fish and one broken-off half piece (you could tell it had broken off as the cod was showing on that end. Tonight, my wife's fish came out overdone on the outside and cold on the inside. We informed the waitress that they could take our discount card back as we were done coming in. The waitress brought it to the owner's attention who only told us her staff is great. We were not asking for a discount or the meal was taken off just for Samantha to know why we were leaving after 8 years. Samantha's solution was to mock us to her staff, and any customers within earshot, as we left. This place was not even half full on Friday night at 5:30 pm. I guess we had a good run....we really miss Nick, but will not return here anymore. Especially when you are paying $20 a piece for fish fry and drinks (with tax). Too many other viable options to waste our money. Nick....if you read this we really miss you. read more

Was not impressed. The club sandwich looks impressive as it is like three Texas toast sized slices with all the meat stacked in the center and not distributed out to the sides at all. My husband and I met family here for breakfast on a Saturday morning. First time and it was nice. The restaurant is nice and the bathrooms are clean. The board with specials is fun and decorative. The food portions are huge at a great price. You want to get there early or you will be waiting in line. I had the #15 French Toast stuffed with cream cheese and strawberries with bacon and it was yummy. My husband had the western omelet and I can tell you it tasted great as well. **UPDATE Someone named David contacted me who I think must work there bc he said the exact same thing the waitress said to us word-for-word about the corned beef hash. They serve slices of corned beef instead of hash. He (they) said "Maybe you're used to the way it comes in a can". For one thing, that's kind of condescending. For another, IT'S WRONG! From Wikipedia (and every cooking site I could find!). "Hash is a dish consisting of diced or chopped meat, potatoes and spices that are mixed together and then cooked either alone or with other ingredients such as onions. The name is derived from the French verb hacher (to chop)." Makes sense, I mean have you ever ordered hashed browns and received sliced potatoes? Maybe you should dispense with the "canned" answer (which shows you have to say it often!), and rename the sliced corned beef dish you are selling? We have ordered this favorite dish in a lot of different restaurants all over the country, and not one has served in big thick slices. It's a real let down when you have your tastes set for hash and get that. If you din't want to change the name, please consider putting a picture of the dish in the menu. It could avoid some food waste for you and frustration for the customer. read more

It had been over 7-8 years since I visited this establishment and the reason is because I found this establishment to be very rude! My son and I walked in on a Wednesday afternoon and it was very slow with maybe 1 table with 2 people eating and the greeter took 5-10 minutes to seat my son and I. After we were finally seated, we ordered our food and no kidding it took over an hour to get our food. There was literally only about 4 customers in this restaurant and I was livid. Such a shame. This was a great diner. We are very disappointed in the new management. We have been frequenting Nick's since we moved to surprise in 2013 and eat there 1 to 3 times a week, sometimes more. We love the staff and the fact that they were always consistent with good food, food portions, and quality. The staff was able to handle the large crowds that came in waves and keep customers happy. Now they are lacking in structure, the staff is not happy and some leaving or have left, and they often run out of food supplies and it takes a very long time for the food to come after the order is entered. Last weekend a whole table of guests walked out before they got their food as they were tired of waiting. Today they were nearly out of loaves of bread. Only had a few slices of sourdough left and, some rye bread and English muffins. My meal was not fully cooked and needed to go back. We really hope management finds its groove and whips this place back into shape. We are looking for other options with the disappointments and no improvements. Nicks Diner is an average spot with average service and average food. Nothing was above and beyond, food wasn't spectacular, service was okay. I don't have much else to say about it because it was just that average of a place. There are better places in the area to grab food, but if your hungry and stop in.
