Onion rings good but pork a bit fatty. 2 men in our group had country fried steak special. They liked it very much but my husband thought veggie side was lacking. We had a nice breakfast today. DH had the half order on Eggs Benedict. They actually used Canadian Bacon which he called a win since he didn't have to work hard to get a bite that included all layers of flavor. The hash browns were suitable crispy and tasty. I had the oatmeal. I have to say first that I like old fashioned oats where you can see and feel the oat texture. I was afraid that these oats were going to be "mush" so was pleasantly surprised to find some texture in the bowl. Served with toast (I'm gluten intolerant) and milk (no dairy for me) but I was offered oat milk along with brown sugar and raisins. Service was generally attentive DH did have to request a refill of his good coffee later in the meal. If you have been to "The Chuck Wagon" in the past you will now find an updated facility. With new chairs, some new smaller tables, nice flooring along with a mural and new art. read more

The Chef Peter's Sun Village Bistro is awesome! The service is always excellent. The food is always great. Love the "Happy Hour offerings". Most entrees are $6 and drinks are half price. After the initial delay in getting service, the wait staff was very attentive. My wife ordered an egg and cheese omelet, with hash browns and sourdough toast. She indicated that her food was good. I had a BLT with onion rings. The BLT had a lot of maple brown bacon that was cooked nice and soft. The sandwich was excellent. The onion rings were delicious. They had a light breading, that blended very well with the larger sliced onions. A great brunch... we will be back! read more

I like to support local businesses but Chef Peter's service today was horrible. 25 minutes after ordering our bar beverage and food. Nothing. Waived down a waitress who immediately tried to help. We got our drinks and 10 minutes later our food. As we started to eat we realized we had no table service. Had to retrieve our own from waiter station. Fish was greasy but other wise good. Question whether I will ever return. This is two weeks in a row where service has been questionable. read more

This is such a great place. Finally a friendly, inviting atmosphere, with great food and staff. The owner and staff are so kind, uplifting and accommodating. The old restaurant, Kimball's Kitchen was NOT a friendly place. The food was not that good and the owner and staff were very rude, condescending and not at all friendly. As a resident, it is so nice to now be able to enjoy all the great food, weekly activities, without any negative vibes. I highly recommend this place. read more

Ate at the Happy Trails location last night. All four of us ordered a meal that included cole slaw. When the food arrived every one of us had a small bowl of slaw that was a third full. About two bites of slaw. While we have not experienced this in our prior visits we question why they would serve such a small portion. Rationing what limited amount they had left? Cutting back? Why didn't they offer a different side if they couldn't fill each order. What's going on? Prices are high and quality is going down. read more

Our breakfast was good but the service was almost nonexistent! Once we had the food, we were ignored until the bill was ready. No coffee refills were available and the coffee cups are small, had to find the ketchup bottle myself, and I watched the staff throw the printed credit card receipts that were requested into the garbage (mine included as it wasn't available). We are split on our review of this place. Drive to the gate and tell the attendant where you are going and they will give you a parking pass and direct you to drive straight ahead past the stop sign and on the right. You do not need to be a member or live there to go to this restaurant. It's pretty popular from the look of things and I loved my beef stroganoff. I was even able to get a half portion which was more then enough for me. Hubby had the chicken cordon blu and he didn't seem too fond of the presentation or taste. The value for the meal was worth it and I would give it another try. read more

Third visit. First visit great. Grilled fish on Friday. Excellent. Went back for prime rib special on Saturday and even ordered pound of brisket to todo. But third visit last Friday they pushed for community tables. They said for busy season. I will will not go back on a Friday just because of that. They sat couples next to each other at a four top despite other tables wide open. Wait staff was confused as they did not know who was newly seated. Also they changed quality cod to a lower quality cod. Once piece was so bad they credited $3.50 and said they changed their fish. I assume Peter is trying to jam folks in but it will backfire. read more

I was there for grand opening last night and a sample of his appetizers!!!! Amazing food, amazing service, amazing atmosphere and delicious drinks at the bar !!! He served over 512 people and his staff did not drop a beat. If you haven't tried it out you should. For a nice relaxing dinner this is the place to go. I haven't written a review in awhile but wanted to since he moved to a new location....... Chef Peter's in new location at Happy Trails Resort. It was probably the worst meal I've had in years (McDonald's is better). We walk in and have to order at a cash register and prepay. I got an "omelet" with home potatoes and English muffin. There was some sort of yellow liquid below my potatoes and overly spiced. My omelet was basically a flat disc of eggs with filling all mixed together and semi folded in half (an AZ thing, I thought all omelets were French omelets). The muffin as under toasted and soggy from all the "butter". Hubbys was just as bad. We asked for water and got those hospital flimsy plastic cups w/out ice. Husband asked for salsa and it arrived in a little to go cup and was horrible and he wouldn't use it. Said it was peach salsa? They wanted to charge 75 cents but it was free this time. No one came to check on us about our food. Now, I've been going to his old location in Sun Village for a long time, mostly for trivia and it wasn't bad but this new low for him. Chef Peter's Bistro is located past the gates of the golf course. It's by the community center and easy to spot. There's plenty of parking and a giant smoker in the parking lot! MENU: super easy to read. They don't have any kid menu options, but the sides or the appetizers would be good for kids They have a good variety of items but only some of the meats are smoked. FOOD: I ordered the Philly cheesesteak. It was cold and the cheese was not melted into the sandwich. I also got a side of onion rings that were SO salty. I couldn't even eat them because of how salty they were STAFF: Super friendly and showed us how things are brought to the smoker Probably wouldn't come here again and if I did I would go for something like a salmon salad. Friday Night Fish Fry at Chef Peters Chuckwagon located in Happy Trails is the place to be! His fish is Phenomenal and his Coleslaw & French Fries are off hook! Tables fill up fast and sometimes during snowbird season there is a small wait. Ask to be seated in Aaron's section, his million dollar smile and Stellar Customer service changes the rooms atmosphere! You will not be disappointed. We always see the signs for Chef Peter's Bistro when driving down Bell Rd, but have never stopped until today. It is located in a gated community of 55 and up, think Sun City type. The restaurant is open to the public, but you must stop at the gate to speak with security and get a paper to put on your dash to park . If you're looking for frills and decor this isn't your spot. Basic tables and some small amount of wall decor. VERY basic and plain. They are open daily until 2pm for breakfast and lunch. We were seated right away and our server came soon after to take our orders. She was friendly and welcoming. It's definitely a meeting area for friends and neighbors of the community. I decided on the veggie omelette but instead of hash browns I had cottage cheese and tomatoes ....not the breakfast I usually want (which is eggs Benedict, they had that too) , but I'm trying to eat a little healthier more often. My husband ordered the works breakfast which is eggs, hash browns, sausage or bacon and toast . He added a side of biscuits and gravy. He does breakfast right ha ha. Everything g came out quick. The omelette was huge (3 eggs) , was full of veggies and side was fresh. Everything was pretty good for a basic breakfast.
