As a foodie I always wanted to try Mexican food ,as they always looked delicious and flavorful. The only thing restricted me was that I never got access to Mexican places which served Halal meat. I am lucky that I found one in Tracy. I actually was planning to have biryani that day and when I reached this place I saw this taqueria and I immediately wanted to try this place and I am glad I did. The service could have been faster but I understand that when we went there ,it was dinner time and it was a peak hour for food deliveries as well. I was also confused first about how to order as I saw no one on the counter. But some people were ordering through kiosk ,so followed them through observation. Food was definitely worth the wait though. The tacos I ordered were amazing , it hit the right spot every bite. My husband ordered combo bowl , it was great as well. I had lunch there 3/17/26. I had 3 tacos . Chicken, steak and hard shell chicken. The place was very very clean. The restaurant was very modern . The employee or owner was polite and professional. The tacos had meat , guacamole and sour cream and pico. I had green and a fire orange salsa . Which is fantastic. One very minor suggestion . They shells need a bit more cooking oil (my preference) I will go back and try the rice, beans and that bomb orange salsa yummy. Please support this business ! read more

Finding authentic halal Mexican food is difficult and I was surprised at how delicious El Jefe's Beef Quesabirrias were. I had 5 in one sitting. Each plate comes with consumé and I easily went through it. Whenever there is a family gathering in Mountain House, we always order El Jefe and each person introduced to it has loved the food. Stopped here on our way back to Elk Grove from the bay. We are not familiar with the area, and it was our first time having halal Mexican food. A new concept to us. Upon entering the place was nice, clean and had plenty of seating. We ordered quesadillas, carne asada tacos, shrimp tacos, fish tacos and quesabirrias. They also offered free chips and salsas. Very good Mexican food! Don't let the menu pictures mislead you - their food is actually very authentic tasting! Second time here and just as good as I remembered. Today I had the carne asada wet burritos with the red sauce. Well balanced with a mix of rice, beans, cheese and meat. the top is covered in mild red sauce and drizzled with sour cream and a nice scoop of guac. I had been driving by this place and wanted to try. I walked into the restaurant and it was a young lady working. I sat at register for several mins before she helped me as she walked over wearing gloves. I ordered a few tacos and the lady made the tacos as she was taking orders and working the register with same gloves. I thought this was not a good sign, so I decided to see if she would change gloves. I received my tacos and they' looked good before eating. The steak meat was burnt and not fresh. Ordered 2 vegetarian burritos. There wasn't an option for it so they charged me the same for 2 super burritos, which doesn't seem fair. Nearly $30. It was mainly just stuffed with fried bellpeppers and stuff, didn't really enjoy it and felt way too overpriced for what we got. Some vegetarian options at a lower price would be highly recommended. Super vegetarian burrito should have rice, beans, cheese, guacamole, sour cream, lettuce, tomato, and salsa. These burritos didn't have half of that. Unfortunately, I'm giving this place just one star due to the cleanliness or rather, the lack of it. There were visible spider webs and even spiders, along with dust around the fountain drink area. Drove by this place a few times now, wanted to stop by didn't get the chance and today was the day! Was out in Tracy running an errand and we came stopped in to give this place a try. Walked in and the establishment was empty with a clean seating area with music playing. Order our food and it came out really quick. We decided to get the street tacos and I got mine with the spicy orange sauce. Food was great and I would come back here again and try something else one the menu. Update: after our lunch we went back and ordered a burrito for our son and the order was forgot about and had to wait another 30 minutes. I enjoyed eating here. I had the steak street tacos, the fried fish street tacos and the nacho fries. The portions were huge. The only thing I didn't like was that there were barely any nacho cheese on the fries, it was more of a drizzle, it felt like they skimped out on it. You can see in the video that it looked kind of bare. I had to buy more nacho cheese for $2.80 for a cup of cheese. That kinda sucked. The staff were friendly. And the store was clean. You walk in and order at a kiosk. The dining area is an odd combination of older Mexican restaurant with murals on the wall that are pretty scratched up and a modern new restaurant. Lots of screens for menus and TV. Back wall had ugly shower curtain covering the storage area. Very loud middle eastern music was playing which was a bit off-putting and out of place for a Mexican restaurant. Food was a good-sized portion. But perhaps that's because we got it to-go so the steam softened the tortilla on the travel. [Nachos] We got the steak. I absolutely loved their nachos. This was my favorite item. I love me that fake nacho cheese. The beans here were flavorful. They tasted like refried beans which is probably why!!! These beans would've been good in the burrito. I do wish though that everything had been done by layers bc it was a pile of chips w.lots of toppings. By the end, we were left with chips. I would return for the nachos. The salsas, man. We got a few to try. The orange one was probably our favorite but was a bit too thick. The other two were unfortunate because the colors were not appetizing at all. When we arrived there wasn't anyone in the restaurant and it was a weekend so we weren't sure what to expect. They have a beautiful mural on the side of the wall! I absolutely loved that!! Overall, it was expensive but they do give you large portions. It wouldn't be somewhere we'd go for Tuesday night tacos but maybe for a nicer dinner. We ordered the asada fries, the bowl with steak and the quesabirrias tacos. I did ask for them to grill onions for my bowl but they said they couldn't. I would have even paid extra for it. Have not been here in a while but our last encounter my entire family including the kids noticed the burritos were not the same loaded with rice and beans with very little meat. Normally you get a decent amount of meat with every bite. this time you could count the number of pieces of meat inside. Also our carne asada fries was half the size it usually is. basically one layer of fries with all the toppings on top. even though i asked for light cheese and sour cream i feel like they went light everything including the fries and meat. once again you could count the pieces of meat on top. Fries was not worth $14 in my opinion. not sure if measurements have changed due to cost but now I know to pay for extra meat going forward. Super dry and basic burrito. The steak burrito lacked flavor in all elements from meat, rice, and the salsa. I do like that it didn't feel greasy and was very light. When compared to other options in town, I don't feel like this burrito made the cut. There are other flavorful spots in Tracy. The size of the burrito was also half of what it is at other spots. And my husband got the burrito and we shared the asada fries. I came in on New Year's day on my way home back to the Bay Area and ordered 4 tacos and 1 super burrito. Service was the slowest that I've ever experienced. My husband was inside for over 50 minutes while I waited in the car with my infant child, thinking it was going to be a quick in and out. They were so understaffed and the food honestly was mediocre. Our meat was very oily and didn't come with much toppings. While standing over 50 minutes to get the food I would say the ambiance was decent.
