Ok. Here's my unbiased review. Apparently this place closed down and just reopened (we are in April 2026) I've never been here before and I felt like it was a win. I hit it at lunch and was the only patron in here. My margarita was a good pour and reasonably priced. Not too sweet. Just how I like it. Bartender and cook were all very friendly. I could order tacos ala Carte and they were awesome. The decor is basic. Like I wouldn't take someone here who is a Portland foodie. They were playing like 90's r&b music which kind of made me giggle. It looked like someone in management/owner was wearing a Pickathon hoodie which means he's local and cool. They have a little play area for kids and maybe they are open late? Like it seems like a late nice place. I overheard them interviewing people and the management seemed like quality humans. Me and my friend came here to listen to some music and chill. We came in and were greeted by staff. They had some customers doing line dancing and the music was live. We ordered Aztec Willies Vegan Taqueria on Uber Eats and were hugely dissatisfied by what was delivered. We ordered two tostada salads which sounded delicious from it's description: Chopped romaine, roasted corn, chopped cucumbers, chopped tomatoes, black beans, shredded vegan cheese, and avocado, choice of vegan protein. The bowl was 90% lettuce, 5% veggies accompanied by other veggies not listed like onions or jalapeño, and 3% vegan protein (the only good part of the bowl), 2% NOT roasted corn, 0% beans and vegan cheese. Not sure why it's called a Tostada salad when there is no tostada to be found either. They were $18 each... yea no. We're still waiting on our refund from Uber Eats. Will not be ordering from their vegan menu again. Such a money grab with no intention behind the food they serve. read more

Stopped in for a drink after some bitoque shopping. The bartender was very nice. There was a regular there named Big Daddy who kept hitting on me behind his girlfriends back. The $9 salsa and chips were good with a variety of 3 homemade salsas. The refried beans were made with white beans instead of the usual red beans. The Mexican rice was fine, but I make it better. My main beef was the portion size was small in relation to the price. The amount of meat in proportion to the sautéed peppers and onions in the fajitas was 1 to 3, so not very beefy for the $21 price tag. See photos of menu. The other beef is the wait staff was unable to answer basic service questions: "may I have more chips to finish up this delicious salsa?" ("let me go ask the owner") and "how much is a bottle of Mexican soda?" (5 min later after asking someone, "$3.50"). And last, ("is the smoked brisket fajita made with pork or beef?") ("I don't know...) ("That's okay...I'm okay with either)". The two young ladies were earnest and trying to do a good job. The owner/chef came out to check on us, which I thought was a nice touch. Granted, I came in at 2pm for lunch on a Sunday, which is usually a low-staff time for most restaurants. I'm used to being fed well when I go out for Mexican. I worked here for 3 days and I will never eat here again. In the walkin, nothing is covered and its a few degrees too warm. The horchata is made once a month and just sits. The enchiladas, traditionally baked on a huge sheet pan and reheated as needed, are nothing more than cheese rolled in a tortilla and microwaved. $8 for an "enchilada" made of just microwaved cheese. I'm neurodivergent and worked in a fine dining kitchen before this. I can cook beef wellington and chicken marsala. I told the trainer that I was autistic after he said he was only going to show me something once. Told him that wouldn't work for me that I may need a couple extra tries but that I hyper focus and become the best at whatever. He threw his hands up and that was it. I was told I was hired to be a "white face" at the counter to make white customers happy. This is after I told them I was a chef and that I wanted to cook. So they deceived me right out the gate too. Dishonest, crappy food. Management and ownership is always present and always very drunk at the bar. The food and the attitudes here are disgusting. read more

This is an interesting place. Large dining area and plenty of tables for you to sit at! I've gotten the Nachos here and they're delicious! A lot of meat an led topping with lots of flavor. The salsas we got made it even better! My wife got a blended strawberry margarita and she loved it! I got a michelada, which I would say, I've had better. Service wasn't too bad! The people who brought us salsas were very nice, and although we weren't expecting to be checked on, they did! It's a nice spot if you go drinking and just want some greasy food. Full disclosure, I had been eating at this restaurant & its sister establishments (Maya's & Santa Fe) for over 25 years. I love all three restaurants. The chips and salsa are excellent, the meats are all well prepared & delicious. Truth be told, I've never in all that time ever had a meal I didn't like. The menu has expanded over the years, and every item I've tried has been wonderful. The service on the day I went wasn't the best, but I think the person was new & inexperienced with the computer system. That's the reason I'm holding back a star. The food here is not bad - nothing special, really, but satisfying. The drinks are good, at least the Passion de Argentina can be if you get the right bartender! I sometimes get a tamarind margarita as well, which is not bad, although it separates very fast so you have to keep stirring. But tastes great! But I tend to have issues with the service. For example, yesterday's experience. 6 tables full, so I stand at the "Wait to be Seated" sign. 6 minutes goes by before anyone says hello or looks at me. Then they tell me I can simply seat myself and that she would take care of me. 20 minutes later, I have my laptop out playing a game because nobody has said hello yet again. I ask for a menu, and order a drink, salad and nachos. The nachos come with sour cream and guac, which I asked to not have. She apologizes and has the kitchen remake. Then my partner says "it is sitting there on the warmer, that is probably yours". Several minutes goes by before the nachos are brought. By that time, the salad has been eaten. Our server comes back, grabs the salad plate, puts it on top of the half-eaten nachos and starts to walk away with it. I say "Noooooooo...", and she apologizes again. Later, I get the bill, and it is also wrong, so I have to then correct that. This is fairly typical, but still a decent place to chill if you are waiting for someone, have some chips and guac and a drink or two. read more

I am driven by this place many times and never ever tried it. So I decided to place a take-out order today In my efforts to support Portland small restaurant owners. After reviewing their menu online I noticed they had "aged ribeye" enchiladas and tacos. I was super excited because Ribeye isn't something that many Mexican restaurants. Ribeye is my thing! So I ordered up the aged ribeye Enchiladas that come with beans and rice... And one ribeye taco. It was ready within 20 minutes. First thing I noticed was they stapled the bag shut and placed a sticker on the boxes over the opening to prevent tampering if you were to get delivery. Love that! So usually when you get steak it's sliced not looking like ground beef so it is un-identifiable. The meat looked like coarse ground hamburger that was used in the taco and enchiladas. If I'm paying for steak I don't want it looking like ground beef! So now I'm wondering what the mystery meat really is? That sucks! I gave it a taste and the meat was tough and had a large content of gristle. That pretty much ruined my appetite right there and I just ate the rice and beans that was just ok. Forever a favorite on Broadway. This place transforms from day into night. My go to is always the ceviche for the table and a regular burrito for myself because it always satisfy my burrito cravings. I've also had a variety of tacos, the Mahi Mahi one is my favorite-- tropical and light. At nights they offer lovely salsa classes (mask on the dance floor please), everyone on the dance floor is respectful and the drinks never disappoint. read more

I got a breakfast burrito with grilled veggies, but it was too heavy on the potatoes and too light on the eggs. Flavor-wise, it was fine. Nothing out of this world, and so I'm just gonna call it unremarkable. The portions are decent. I am a big eater, so I was on the fence about ordering something else, but I decided against it and went out for dessert instead. They have plenty of covered outdoor seating with heating, so it's very nice to have a social outing with friends here. Would I come back? Tables socially distanced. No one in there besides us and one other table. There were 12 tables. Alllllllll were dirty with sitting dirty dishes. We had to ask for a table to be cleaned. We stood and waited for 5 minutes for one to be cleaned. We should have left then. Ordered at bar as instructed and the bartender suggested watermelon mint margaritas. Ok. Sat at our table. Got our order FAST. I MEAN LIKE SKETCHY FAST. No water to drink. No margaritas. Went to check on drinks. "Oh, we don't have the watermelon purée." Then why suggest it and let us order it?? Can we get some water as our food is already here. Carbonated warm warm was given to us. WTH?? Food. Oh if you want to call it that. Cheese enchiladas, rice and beans. My wife said enchiladas were "ok." Rice and beans were ICE COLD. (I tasted them) Zero flavor. Ground beef taco salad. Holy bajesus. It is 1 1/2 hours since we ate there and I am still talking about how terrible it was. 90% shredded lettuce, spoonful of pico, bland brownish guac and the ground beef was seriously BURNT nuggets that were blaaaaaaack and hard as a rock. Like crunchy. Like break a tooth crunchy. Oh, let's get to the replacement margaritas that have now arrived after we ate 4 bites of our meal. Blended "peach" margarita. Not really blended. No peach. No flavor. Guava marg same issues. We had two sips each. Went and asked for the check. We realized it was sketchy fast as I believe things were in bins and they were just scooped onto the plates. This place is gross. I ordered a breakfast burrito from Postmates that is said to have "two eggs, potatoes, cheese, pico, guacamole, sour cream, and your choice of meat". In reality it should be called a Boiled Potato Burrito! I have never had a breakfast burrito with boiled potatoes!!! Who does that??? Aztec Willie's apparently. Gag. Literally the most bland burrito I have ever had. It barely had any other ingredients. It was practically all potato. Not to mention, they were in huge chunks! If you're going to make the burrito 80% potato, at least take the time to cut them into smaller pieces. I could have definitely made a better burrito at home for $12.00!!! Happened across this little corner shop on the way out of town. Not being from Portland, I never know what I'm going to find on these adventures. First off, their salsa is delicious! It's got a bit of heat but even those with mild tastebuds can handle it. Ordered a Cadillac margarita and was a little disappointed; it wasn't quite right. I think it was heavy on the sour side but I'll give them props for their own mix, real fruit and paper straw. We managed to hit happy hour and ordered chips/salsa, pescado (cod) taco, carnitas taco and a beef hard taco. All were good, but the Star was the carnitas. It was juicy and flavorful! Oh, did I mention the handmade corn tortillas? Soooo soft! Our server was super nice and checked on us often. We had to correct the order a few times due to language barrier, but it wasn't an issue for us. Just make sure to verify or you might get less, extra or a surprise! read more

Go for the drinks! Really nice staff and great drinks. The food however is WAY overpriced for what you get and I can't even believe this was the size of an $11 tostado that I received today (see photo)! I'll be back for drinks again as my friend and I had an awesome time there yesterday. The shrimp tacos are great too but way overpriced at $6 + per taco that each had 3 shrimp on them! I've spoken with a family member who will not go back after having gone over the years and the food is consistently lousy. One star (app won't let me change from 2 which was too generous). Actually their sangria gave me a awful headache so I can't even recommend the drinks. read more

Myself and a group of 5 friends walked in. Employees did not speak one word the entire time. Stood staring at the menu for 5-10 minutes, no hello no how can I help. I ordered, paid, said thank, you them no words. There was nobody in the restaurant and it took over a half hour to get nachos. Put it on the table, no talking, no napkin no utensils. Later got up asked for napkins and utensils. Employee walked over to get napkins and utensils employee didn't speak at all. Carne asada nachos sucked. Sorry to have to write this review as Aztec Willie's has been my neighborhood go to for burritos, guac, etc for decades. But just picked up an order of a Pollo Asado Burrito (my usual) and a chips, salsa and guac side. The burrito fell apart as soon as I unwrapped it and became a burrito bowl on my plate. The chicken was very overcooked. The chips were chewy and undercooked and stuck together. The salsa was tasty as usual but full of cilantro stems. What a disappointment. With several other nearby options on NE Broadway I'm sorry to say I won't be frequenting Aztec Willie's anytime soon. Bummer. read more

If I could give this establishment one star; I would. But this one guy with glasses at the front door patted me down like I was a criminal. I felt so out of place. I was beyond distraught as I thought this was just "general patting" as a way of having a safe club. But this guy took it personal as, Willie, the security guy, took it personal when he ripped my bag apart and said I wasn't allowed due to not dating him previous months ago. Therefore he wouldn't let me nor my friends in the club. So I wasn't allowed anywhere inside the clubs due to Willie and his morals or not dating him. Best Nachos in PDX! They use REAL ingredients and everything is perfectly marinated and PACKED with juices and sabor! (Mucho flavor bro!) Also, they heat up so well in my iron skillet the next day after being in the fridge. I love it when all the juices soak into the chips. I don't know what they put in the nachos... but I get addicted to them and need to cut my self off for a month at a time. :) They have been a huge comfort to me during covid days. I moved here from the Bay Area, where we have amazing Mexican food, (San Francisco native). This is my go-to spot that has the high quality Mexican food that reminds me of home. Two items (quesadillas) in my order had been made with Aged Ribeye (Grilled Steak and Onions in Spicy Chipotle Sauce), instead of Carne Asada (Grilled Aged Rib Eye Steak) as I requested. At the point of discovery, it was futile to try and have it corrected. We were disappointed, as we dislike both grilled onions and chipotle sauce, and found the quesadillas inedible as a result. The other items (burritos) that I requested Carne Asada (Grilled Aged Rib Eye Steak) on were made correctly. I have ordered there before, but this was a first for the quesadillas. I enjoy the burritos, and nachos I've had before. The ceviche has a bit too much cilantro for my taste, but once I moved beyond that, it was tasty. read more
