Once he said the kitchen is closed at 11pm; they served liquor until 11:45 (per OLCC you must have food if serving liquor) and acted like any guest was a burden. Once witnessed him walk out of the bar to yell at a patron as the left. Really wanted to love this bar but the negative vibes from the bartender soiled it. Loungey vibe with a couple of divey cues. Solid bar scene with helpful bartenders, and a small Mexican-ish menu. Inside you got pleather booths with dim lighting and a game room space in back with pool tables , and outside there's a "patio" ...er, sidewalk seating. I like the feel of this place and the drinks are good, and cheap. Food is pretty bland though -- I'd be hard-pressed to call it Mexican, and I hope you really like olives; our taco salad consisted mostly of black ones and crema with a few beans inside. Lettuce? Tomatoes? Nope. Didn't even see any kind of protein.... Kind of a mess. Don't recommend it. Would come back for the drinks, but definitely not the food. read more

Very cute and reasonably priced. Got the empanada, which was crispy and flavorful. Veggie sides were wonderful and was almost like a bonus salad. Would recommend for anyone looking for a good time, and their outdoor area is top notch. Went on Sunday evening on a whim with my boyfriend. We sat at the bar and ordered. The place is really cute and it had great ambiance but the bartender HATED EVERYONE. I know someday we just have bad days but it was bad. No eye contact, snarky things under his breath after everyone ordered. He really hated it there and I totally get bad days but his energy was so bad because we were having such a nice nice together my boyfriend and I moved to a table finished our drinks and then went to the Vern. I won't be returning as I don't want to pay money to be in someone's really bad energy. read more

A manager reached out and let me know that the sangria should have been a solid pour (no ice) and that the policy is no fingers in the cherry jar. I appreciated that and I understand a bartender can have an off moment especially while slammed on a Sat night (it was a long line) so the sangria was tasty and is worth ordering. This is a great place for drinks and Tex-Mex food! Their nachos are very good and so huge! I call them Nacho Mountain! But you can order a small for one or two people. Their quesadilla is super excellent and also quite large. There were four of us and one large nacho and one quesadilla fed us all, I left feeling super stuffed. Drinks are well made and tasty. Although service is friendly and quick, you do have to order at the counter and there is sometimes a long line. Low Tide does a great business and has lots of tables, my one suggestion would be that they consider hiring a couple of servers. This, however, is a fun, fun place to go with friends. read more

My friends and I came to visit Portland and stayed in a Airbnb that was literally down the street from the spot. We had initially came here for the drinks, as I know that they also serve food. Since we had just had dinner, we didn't order any food. Additionally, I had gone ahead and ordered a cocktail, which I cannot recall the name, but do know it contained dark rum, and coconut. The drink itself was good, but a little strong for my taste. Everyone else had beer. After we all had received our drinks, we proceeded to go upstairs to a very cool, hangout spot, decorated with fake plants and couches. The lighting in this spot is very dim which added to their ambience. They also have a photo booth downstairs near the bar, which I thought was really cool. Decided to go to the Low Tide Lounge to meet up with some local friends while we were visiting Portland. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and the bartender gave us some recommendations for food and drinks. I normally would have ordered a beer, but he convinced me to get the Piña Colada slushee and it was fabulous! Went back for seconds later. For food, we had the special, which were the shrimp tacos (yum!) and we also had some empanada bites, plantain chips, and chips and salsa. Everything was great but I have to say, the salsa was AMAZING. Best salsa I've ever had outside of an authentic Mexican restaurant. If I lived in this area, I would return just for the chips and salsa. Honestly. So, so good. We can't wait to visit Portland again because we will definitely come back to the Low Tide Lounge. Also, the ambience is really chill and the music was good and not too loud. We appreciated being able to talk with our friends without having to shout, which seems to be the norm in most places these days. read more

Hands down, my favorite bar in Portland. Killer margaritas, it's what they're known for. Vegetarian tacos/nachos/empanadas/bowls that are so good, I usually order more for at home eating (and I'm an avid meat eater fwiw.)
