The food here was OK. Coming from San Diego I'm familiar with excellent guacamole. When they offered table side prepared guacamole, I said yeah. And it was very tasty, probably the best thing we had that dinner. When the bill came I was shocked to see that they charged $15 for the guacamole. That's way too much. This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in town. They give you so much food for a great cost. I always get an appetizer of chicken taquitos as my meal and always come back home with left overs! The atmosphere is so chill and has a good vibe to it. The employees are always so nice, the food tastes amazing, and the mariachis are always a great time! Today was my first day trying Azteca. I have heard people saying how great their salsa is and how they should bottle it up and sell it. I was thrilled to see that they had chips and salsa waiting for our table (cause we reserved for our party) already. I must say I was expected too much from it. Maybe somebody will hate me for saying this but I think publix salsa is kind of on the same level or better. It just wasn't the best. When it came to their menu, it was HUGE. The menu it self was 5 lbs in weight and it had multiple inserts. I'm also glad it was huge with pictures because I guess most people like me who aren't of Hispanic descent wouldn't know a thing about the authentic Mexican names of certain dishes. From their lunch menu I had decided to try the Majacete. It was described in the menu as a soup/stew with steak/chicken/both with cheese on top that came with re-fried beans, pico de gallo, and rice. When I got the dish, I was happy that it actually looked exactly what it was pictures. Unfortunately, I wasn't a fan of it. It base of the stew was too salty and not knowing what it is suppose to or not suppose to taste like...reminds me of a salty tomato based sauce with chicken and beef (since i order it with both). We have been before on a Sunday afternoon and had a great meal. Our server was friendly. To our surprise a mariachi band started playing while we were eating. Since we had a such a great time and meal we decided to go back on a Friday night while our oldest was in town from college. It was a totally different experience. The food was still good, but the restaurant was crazy loud (we unfortunately got a table in the middle of the room) and our server rushed us through everything ordering, the meal asking if I needed boxes while we were still eating, didn't even ask if we wanted dessert he was ready to give us the check. It was 7:30 and they were busy but not so busy that people were waiting for tables so I didn't know why he felt the need to rush us. They had a lady taking pictures of your group for a free "postcard" of course you could buy more pictures that she put in a cardboard frame. Seemed odd to me to have this. I could see maybe a unique restaurant near the attractions. In all I was kind of disappointed that our family meal was so rushed. read more

Was on business travel this past week and tried this place out. Coming from AZ where we get awesome Mexican food - I generally won't choose Mexican when I travel but I am really glad that I did with this place. The service was great, while it was slow that evening, our server was very attentive. They brought us chips/salsa right away to much on, along with water. I ordered the Chile Relleno on the recommendation of the server - SO glad I did. I got it with just cheese (he offered to have meat put in it) and it was this incredible blend of cheese and onion in a giant Poblano pepper. It came with rice and beans, along with pico de gallo and was a LOT of food. I was so obsessed with the relleno I don't even remember what my colleague had... but I know he loved it. We did order desert. We split the Canelitos... they were very yummy, but super sweet... I think we give you six, so an easy dessert to split even among three. Would return here for sure. read more

We have eaten here a handful of times and always had a good meal. The prices are a little on the high side for Mexican, but the quality is good and the portions are quite large. Free chips and salsa, as you would expect. The queso is good as well -- a white queso with spinach. We have had a variety of entrees and enjoyed them all. My favorite is the Echiladas Rancheras. I expect we will visit often when we are in town. Azteca is very close to UCF. read more

I drove across town with a friend to have what I thought was the best Mexican food in town. This place is nothing like I remember it. Pulled up at noon on a Sunday and there was only one other couple eating. Server seemed to forget everything. Forgot I ordered beer, which turned out to be flat and nasty, im guessing first pour of the day. Came back like 10 minutes later to say they couldn't put shrimp on the soup and salad meal, not even on the side for an upcharge. So we changed that order to a full salad order. I paid $5 extra for "guacamole and sour cream" as an add on to my meal. I had to remind the waiter, to which I regret, as it came out after I'm almost done with my meal. To top it off, it was the sorriest serving size and guacamole iv ever seen. Guacamole looked like that store bought junk... see pictures. To add to what others have said, since when does a waiter hold the electronic pad in front of you to review your receipt and ask you to pick a tip amount as they stand there? This is one of those tried and true Tex mex places where you have predictable menu items and chips and salsa brought to your table when you arrive. The environment was busy, but we were seated immediately in an available booth. The staff were courteous and helpful. Refills were brisk and the table was clean. They have what may be my most favorite restaurant style salsa ever. The chips were hot out of the kitchen and were amazing. Ive never had hot chips before and hadn't lived until this moment. The downfall was when my meal arrived. I ordered a chicken burrito w queso. At first I was thrilled as it was a generously sized burrito, but upon eating it I was quickly disappointed. The burrito was about 80% white rice. The chicken within it was clearly a previously cooked chicken breast that was chopped up and sprinkled in the rice. A few beans in it. The queso poured on it was good, but I quickly ran out of it and was left w a dry, rice filled burrito. Included is a picture when I was about halfway done w my burrito. I had stopped eating the rice at this point and you can clearly see how much was stuffed in this thing. The price was somewhere around $13 for it, which makes it 1-2$ more expensive than a super burrito at senior tequilas in winter springs, and that comes w guac and sour cream w it. My friends ordered margaritas which left both of them feeling uninspired. All in all this place was a little over priced and underrepresented w their food. If we were basing this off their chips they would get 5 stars, but as of now it's not a great deal. read more

The food here is decent and served in large portions. However, the prices are a little up there. Everything is an extra charge; spinach on a quesadilla was $2.50 and nachos are over $10 with $2.50 charge for any meat on top. Any decent meal will run you $12-$20. They have a decent happy hour with BOGO drafts and cocktails. Inside decor is cute. The seating for large parties is a little cramped where the chairs make it difficult for the inside seating to exit if both tables are occupied. The bathroom stall are a little ridiculous as well...making it so that you have to straddle the toilet before you can close the door. Bathrooms were clean and stocked though. The service was not too bad, but could've been better. Waters were replenished at a decent rate, but they did forget one of our appetizer orders. read more

It was 4 of us we ask for a menu and was Only given ONE they said they were limited, meanwhile there was a stack of them there! The waiter seemed liked he hated his job didn't come to table until 10 min later, then I ask if they can sing happy birthday to my daughter which was cute but then I was charged for her cake when usually all restaurants do this for free! I recieved an online coupon for BOGO Mexican Tacos and figured I'd give them a try. They provided complimentary chips and salsa which is always a plus. The salsa was more on the watery side than thick side (not that it's a bad thing). I liked it because it was flavorful and the chips were warm. We ordered our food and feels like we got it on the table in 10 minutes. It was super fast. I ordered the Chicken Flautas with a side of white rice and black beans. I was very surprised my rice had pieces of carrots, corn and peas in it, especially since there was no mention of vegetables. My Flautas had sour cream drizzled on it with tomatoes and crumbled queso fresco. I think the presentation was nice and the portions are really big, but it lacked in flavor. For a place that seemed like it offered Authentic Mexican food, it kind of fell short in my books. I could have used hot sauce or could have had the chicken be seasoned more. Tip - Sundays, happy hour all day, 2 4 1's! The beers are huge! Mexican with HUGE HUGE HUGE portions. I got a burrito which may have been the largest one I've ever had. I like to eat but this was definitely 2 meals in 1, especially after K munching on their complimentary chips and salsa. Their salsa is more tomato/chipotle based. I prefer salsas that have a spicy kick. They have a big projector in one of the dinning rooms so you can watch the game or the big show of the night. An award show was on the night I went. I have had real mexican food in Toronto and this tasted more like american-ized... like a fancy taco bell. The portions however were generous and the lunch deal was priced fair. My husband bought the lunch deal with a beef chimichunaga and chicken tostada and i had a beef taco and a chicken tostada. They filled our hunger but nothing special. The octopus and shrimp ceviche was so good. I can eat it everyday!!! They have a good mix platter that has steak, shrimp, sausage, chicken, rice, etc. 2 to 3 people can finish this whole platter! My wife and I met another couple for cocktails and dinner. We arrived just after 5:00 PM, so we were able to get 2-for-1 drinks, including an exceptional Sangria and a very tasty Strawberry Margarita. Our server, Miguel, messed up on our drinks, so even though I had asked for sangria and then a margarita, I ended up with 2 sangrias. At least for my wife, he asked if she was okay with 2 strawberry margaritas. One person at our table asked if they could have a beer since they didn't care for the original margarita; and, even though the beer was cheaper, Miguel said he'd have to have another margarita or sangria, even after he offered to pay for the two margaritas, which he didn't like. For supper, I ordered the Camarones Monterey, which looked great in the picture; but, turned out to be a hot mess. They showed as a half dozen jumbo shrimp with sauce and cheese; but, came with stewed carrots, a mound of steamed onions and peppers; and, a side of our cream, guacamole, cheese, lettuce and tomato... and, nothing to eat them with! I had to ask for some corn tortillas to scoop up everything; but, my dish and our dining companions (who also ordered the same to split) just overwhelmed the table... so much so, we didn't have room for my wife's Tacos Al Carbon, which she said were very tasty. The meat was tender and tasty; but, the taco shells were oversteamed and were soggy. Inconsistent service, inconsistent drinks, and a hot mess of food made for a less than stellar meal. We had a great time talking and catching up; and, we got out rather cheap. So, 3-stars overall. read more

Server Andrea forgets what I did and didn't want on my food despite me telling her numerous times! She charged extra for item I didn't want and item that should have been included. Told her that refried beans should be IN my taco salad and not on the side yet she had brought them as a side and had the audacity to charge for them and the avocado which I told her I didn't want but wanted guacamole instead! Our server, Valeria, was very sweet and honest with her food recommendations. The atmosphere was relaxed. We came on a Sunday night and they had a live Mariachi band, which was actually good :) The margaritas were good and the food was delicious. Valeria recommended the Pollo en Mazatlan, and I loved it. My grandparents shared the 2 lamb shanks (not pictured) and wouldn't stop praising it lol. For dessert, we had the Tres Leches. Valeria warned us that it was a bit too dry and she was right. I decided to wait til the second time i came here to do a review because i wanted to make sure they were consistent. I was happy with my food and service both times ive been here! The restaurant is beautiful! I sat at the bar this time. Chairs were very comfortable. My waitress alejandra was very sweet and attentive. My food came out in good time. My drink was amazing (its not on the menu anymore but she was sweet enough to make it for me which i appreciate). The mango ceviche was so fresh! It was a good portion as well. My tacos were great but i was too full to finish. My only complaint was that because the plate was so warm and i had finished my appetizer first that by the time i got to my tacos the outside shell was a bit harder than i would have liked. Other than that they were good! The prices are worth it for the portion size and the quality. All the staff was amazing. The place was very clean and well stocked. I was watching my waitress juice fresh limes right at the bar. I dont know why this place isnt busier than it is. My family and I will be back! read more

I was so pleasantly surprised by this places! After coming back from Puerto Rico which apparently has no good Mexican food, we decided to try this place out. The 2 for 1 Margaritas really helped in the decision. I tried my husband's coronita and it was extremely good and the regular Margaritas were very good also. I ordered a Chile Relleno which was delicious and for the price it was a big portion. My sister ordered enchiladas de mole and my husband Pollo en crema. All the food was really good and despite my expectation I would say it was really close to authentic. The service was great and everyone was very nice. The ambience seems really good, very reasonable prices and the drinks in my opinion were pretty strong. I definitely recommend this place to anyone near the UCF area! read more
