Best Mexican I have found in Powell. Margaritas are fantastic and the staff outstanding!

It's a perfectly fine Mexican restaurant. Chips were served hot, service was fast and the food tasted authentic. It could have been spicier for my taste but that's what hot sauce is for. As the neighborhood Mexican joint, I would definitely go again. These 1-star reviews are just absurd. For example, perhaps Fiesta Jalisco might be better but it's 15 miles away. For someone wanting a recommendation whether to try the local Mexican restaurant, saying they should travel 25 minutes across town isn't' helpful. Let's start putting reviews in perspective. The food was good. Not fantastic but good. A couple other things... $5.99 20oz margaritas before 7pm was nice. And they have a great selection of kid meals. My son doesn't like Mexican but thankfully they also offer kid standards like chicken tenders, burgers, etc along with Mexican dishes. That's a big deal for parents with picky kids. Went here last evening for dinner and was amazed by their extensive menu. They were more than willing to substitute corn tortillas for flour in many of the dishes so being gluten sensitive I will certainly be back soon. There were also quite a few other dishes that would not have been a problem for me to eat. By the way, the margaritas were great! read more

I was there Sunday, second time, first was good, second not so good. Service was extremely slow and the food as mediocre at best. Not real busy but a lot of employees running around looking busy. read more

Got seated right away and ordered right away. Waited 45 minutes for our food. Never came. Finally flagged waitress down and was told it would be at least another 15 minutes. No apology. Told us they were one cook down. If she had informed us of the delay when we were seated, we would have gone elsewhere. read more

I never, ever write reviews. Ever. For real, never. This place had 2 party's when we walked in on the day after Christmas. 30 minutes later the house was PACKED. The staff were in the weeds but I commend the job they did. They were running with a skeleton crew hoping to get to get by for the holiday. They obviously weren't expecting the crowd they got tonight. I hope ever other patron understood what was going on. They really did an excellent job and the food that came out of the kitchen was as good as any other day, which is great. I hope they get a thank you from the owner. Great place for home made taste of Mexican food. I have visited the place twice, courteous and friendly service. The food is hot and delicious. Its great to know that I don't have to cry when I'm eating salsa.. The tacos were great and tasty and the refried awesome. The drinks were delicious. My husband had chimis and said its been a while since he's had great chimichangas. We will definitely visit again and it takes us at least 25 min from where I live..however if the food is good, what matters the travel.....I loved the ambiance, the waitresses attire very colorful give you the real Mexican feel....it took me back to when we vacationed in Mexico a few years ago. We ate at a rest. where the waitresses were very folkloric as well..they truly gave it the real Mexican feel to the place. read more

I have never had a bad meal here and I have eaten there many times. I am from out west where we have wonderful Mexican and Tex-Mex restaurants. What I notice in the best of them is what I notice at Azteca: it's family-run, with a sharp, warm owner and a very invested staff. The food is good and the setting festive and fun, while nice enough for a celebratory evening out or a date. I find it a treasure in Powell and would recommend either location. read more

My family and I use to go here almost weekly because it's close to home and the food was fair on quality and price, despite very slow service (who cares when you have good company and a yummy margarita!?). We dealt with slow service because we like the food and the owner is always pleasant. We stopped going when I literally found a dead roach mixed in with my beans. Likely due to recent renovation but it just wasn't acceptable. It was not the first time as the owner owned up to it being a problem they have sprayed for and have tried remediating. I get it, things get stirred up during a reno (they recently renovated) but if it's a recurring issue- shut down and cut the loss for a few days to rally fix the problem instead of completely losing customers due to bugs in food. read more

I went to Azteca specifically to have their Sunday brunch buffet. It was simply "underwhelming". I arrived shortly after the restaurant opened and found I was the first customer. With such timing, I expected the to food should be hot; however, most of the host items were lukewarm. There's no signage for the covered foods in the heated servers, meaning one has to open each of eight serving stations.to determine what was inside....causing heat to be lost. The other problem was that, even with the server lid open, it was so dark that I couldn't determine what was inside. The flavors of the entrees were so-so. I will not return. read more

Have been here many times and consistently high marks for service and quality of food - located intersection of Powell Rd and Sawmill Parkway northwest side of shopping center with Giant Eagle...various items on menu tried on different occasions all were good, good value for your money - nice people serving and management aims to please. All of the food was absolutely amazing. There was enough seafood in the seafood burrito that I almost felt guilty (I had just seen the fish at the zoo last night). Some of us like spicier food so they brought us an additional salsa. It was not only spicy but had excellent behavior. It is rare that my brother and I agree on anything (even as adults) but we both thought that the food was excellent. The margarita was perfect, not weak but not overpowering. Strongly recommend Sunday brunch! Among everything else, I especially loved the breakfast burritos, quesadillas, and huevos rancheros. The option to have an omelet or fajita made for you are excellent and provide you with the freshest food available.
