This makes me sad to write this review. Los Guachos is typically my go to, but I had the worst experience tonight and will never be going back. I went in at 8pm and ordered food to go at their kiosk. The line to order in person was too long so I figured this would go faster. I had to ask twice for my order and waited 40 minutes for 6 tacos! The last time I asked for my food it was just sitting on the warmer, not in a bag. That hadn't even called my name yet. The food although tasty, wasn't hot and I'm just very disappointed. I never would have imagined finding tacos al pastor as good as San Diego in the middle of Ohio! These are worth the trip. Also get the queso and salsa, it is unique to the point of amazement. Went to Los Guachos Taqueria with my friend a few weeks ago and did not have a great experience. We arrived around 6 PM and it was pretty busy. The restaurant is designed where you order when you're standing up and then go sit down and pick up your food when it's ready. Maybe I ordered the wrong food, but I don't know. We ordered chips and salsa, which was kind of expensive considering it's normally complementary. This also that we first got was very spicy and then we went back and asked for pico de gallo. For my main entrée, I got fish tacos, which were good but pretty salty. I also got a side of rice. My bill came out to around $20-$25. I then got a margarita which was another $15. The restaurant is just too expensive for what I got and the food quality was just OK in my opinion. Popped in here on Thursday evening with a friend who raves about this place. He goes to several of the locations pretty frequently. It's an order at the counter and then get q seat place. Then to the side of that they had a full bar. Our friends recommendation was the chorizo. He was not lying. It is delicious. We opted for flour tortillas instead of the traditional corn tortillas. We just aren't fans of the corn. The flour are larger and they don't up charge. My husband got 4 tacos. Chorizo, fried fish, grilled fish, and chicken. He loved them all. Said when we go back he would get exact same thing. I got the gringas because it said the al pastor was the best in town. I agree. They shave it off a giant spit like the gyro meat is carved from at a greek place. It was delicious. The chorizo was on point. I also got a brisket. Wow was it good. It is all chunked up and crispy on the outside. Wow. I wanna get a side of the chipotle sauce that was on my husbands fried fish. It was so good. As per a suggestion on another yelp review I read, I got the pina colada water. Holy. Crap. It was SO GOOD. Beat pina colada I've ever had. I haven't reviewed Los Guachos?! They have been an institution for long enough - for a time when you had to seek them out, to now having multiple locations. The simple gist is - they're good. Really good. REAL tacos. I mean, what I think real tacos are. Two to three tacos. Gringas. Horchata. Burritos. They have an array and it's so. Damn. Good. This location is in the former Taco Haas (which I loved) and a Mexican grocery store turned cafe. I haven't tried grabbing a few tacos and beer, but I really need to. They're the best tacos I have had in town. The decor - wood tables, bench seats and chairs. Granted, spread out a bit nowadays. Friendly staff. Fast service. Good food. I CAN'T BELIEVE I'M GIVING A LOS GAUCHOS 3 STARS, BUT TODAY SAWMILL DESERVED 2 STARS. I've eaten at Los Guachos on Godown at least 50 times. Probably 75 times. Their Godown location is awesome, with Al Pastor that's absolutely "the best in the city" - total truth in advertising. Today I stopped at their Sawmill location for my favorite Torta Al Pastor. I can't believe how different it was. I can't believe how disappointing it was. First - let's talk TASTE - there wasn't any. The pork had no seasoning. The whole sandwich tasted bland. It was so tasteless I literally went home and grabbed a jar of chipotle spice to check whether I could smell. I was afraid I had Covid - I didn't. The sandwich had no flavor... Second - TECHNIQUE - The meat was sliced very thick. Too thick. Al Pastor should be sliced thin so it's easy to chew. These slabs were more than a 1/4" thick. Disappointing. Finally - QUALITY - I spit out 1/3 of my bites because they were mostly fat. This is not the Al Pastor they serve at Godown. Is this location sourcing differently? Are they making the big spit of meat in-house and someone doesn't know how to season the meat or trim the fat? About a third of the meat was just thick, flavorless slabs of fat. Having to pay for chips and salsa was surprising and even worse, the guacamole wasn't that good (which I didn't think was possible). I ordered the chicken, suadero, and grilled fish taco - all of which were very dry, even with the sides of salsa. I understand that they are simple tacos, but I wasn't expecting that plain.
