We went to the upstairs tea room for a Saturday night date night. I'd recommend getting reservations as it was pretty busy, but the ambiance was very cute and intimate. They were playing super upbeat music, but it didn't deter from the vibe. The mocktails were great! The non-groni was as close to a Negroni as I've had. For the food - I don't know if I had my expectations too high from hearing about this place for a while, but I was disappointed. The dim sum was fine, but nothing amazing. Our favorite was the Big on the Pig, which was crunch and spicy, and then the short rib bao buns, which was marinated very well. Despite this, neither blew our minds. The soup dumplings had no soup in them. The Yang Kwei Fei stole the show. The duck and pork belly were tender, the noodles were cooked to perfection, and the entire dish was full of flavor. This alone was a 8.5/10 dish! Definitely recommend. In all, we would have walked away not coming back here if we hadn't decided to split an entree. So, if you go, I'd skip the dim sum and split 2 entrees! read more

Solid tasty food here! Busy but very attentive wait staff! Super hard working and caring people always taking care of us when we come in. I enjoy both the upstairs experience where sometimes they have events as well like the drag brunch we went to over Pride. Or also to get in quickly eating downstairs at a high top is also an excellent experience. Top quality drinks and the food is always rich in flavor and great to split lots of different bites with friends and family here. My personal favorites are the drunken noodles here and the beef bao bun. It's a fun vibe inside and love the decor here and the lighting. Upstairs and downstairs have different styles but come together nicely and have their own thing. Crystal especially enjoys the tea upstairs! My partner and I came here to celebrate her birthday in the tea room upstairs. The service was great, the food was DELICIOUS, and the vibes are incredible. I've been here for dim sum downstairs, but the food upstairs is "elevated" and they aren't lying about it. The rangoons with king crab and Szechuan peppers made me rethink worry I could never go back to regular crab cheese wontons again. The mushroom dumplings were so tasty as well. The cocktails are all incredibly fun and the infusion of tea is such noticeably nice touch. Would happily celebrate any occasion here again. read more

It's kind of hard to park, but after that, it gets better. I've been a few times now, and I've never left disappointed. The music is always hip, but the type of hip differs. I've sat downstairs when the dubstep was loud and I've sat upstairs when the house music was at a nice level for dinner conversation. The food is consistently good, but it seems like I always order something that they're out of. Lots of options though! Came on a Sunday brunch right at open (12:03) since it was our first time and the website says taproom is first come first serve only. The host greeted us and let us know they would not be able to accommodate our party of 4 because taproom was fully booked with reservations. I told him the website said they didn't take reservations otherwise we would have made one, he said "yeah it's confusing" and just left it at that. I called ahead to ask if they could accommodate an allium allergy, and luckily the manager, Ally, picked up the phone. She took the time to speak with the kitchen before we even arrived, which immediately made me feel comfortable and taken seriously. When we got there, we were seated at the more casual tables. If you're looking for a more elevated, romantic ambiance, definitely make a reservation for their tea room ahead of time. That said, we were just happy to be out together and enjoyed the lively atmosphere, but it's something to keep in mind depending on the vibe you want. Ally actually chose to serve us herself because of the allergy, which was incredibly thoughtful. She walked me through options and helped curate a custom meal that was not only safe, but absolutely delicious. It's rare to feel that level of care and intention when dining out with dietary restrictions. This is officially my new favorite spot. We visited on a Monday night, when I was confused that I could make a reservation for downstairs (usually walk-in only), but on Mondays they do not open their upstairs tea room at all. Downstairs is scan at your table and they bring you food. It's a long menu, so you'll be spending some time scrolling. The decor is really cute and fun, with campy Asian decor and some neon and an unobtrusive TV above the bar. We wanted to try a bunch of things, so we ordered 2 types of dumplings (Big on the Pig and Mother Clucker), wings, and char siu bao. The bao came out first and it was delicious, if a bit skimpy on the filling. The sambal sauce was really good. Then we waited. And waited. By then we had pretty much finished our drinks so we ordered another round. A server brought the chicken dumplings and some bao, which we explained was not ours. We ate the chicken dumplings, which were fine. They came with an aioli and a "Chinese hot mustard" that was mostly sweet, not hot. Then we waited some more. We noticed other tables were getting their food -- and one that came in after us had three dishes at once, which made us wonder why we only got one at a time, with a gap between each. (It's only 5 dumplings, doesn't take that long to eat.) Big on the Pig arrived and we ate those. They were fine, pretty greasy though, and had some tasty topping of scallions and ... bonito? Then the sesame/red bean paste balls arrived, but we wanted those for dessert (as billed on the menu), so we set them aside and waited for the wings. The wings finally came and we enjoyed them -- they had a very spicy Gochujang sauce. Finally we ate the sesame balls too. My husband had to use the restroom and said it was a bummer to have no paper towels (just a hand dryer) .... And one of the urinals was overflowing, which was unappetizing at best. When we closed out, the tipping option automatically selected was 25%, which felt like a bit much considering the job was to bring us our food and set it on the table. There wasn't anyone to explain or ask why it was taking so long. The whole meal set us back $150 for 10 dumplings, 2 bao, 5 sesame balls and 6 wings, plus 3 beers and a cocktail. I couldn't help reflecting that at Dumpling Kitchen, the (delicious) dumplings and bao would have been $18 vs $45 here. read more

Alright, so two years ago, I stopped by for a quick bite at Bao Brewhouse and was absolutely blown away. While planning my trip to Denver this time around, I made it a point to plan a full dinner there to relive the deliciousness on a bigger scale. We arrived after a concert, 20 minutes before closing, only to be told that the kitchen was already closed. Understandable. Disappointed but determined, we decided to try again the next day. I booked a 10 PM reservation on OpenTable for their Teahouse. Not long after, I get a call from someone named Wolfe, informing me they close at that time. I was 1.5 hours away, so the earliest I could make it was 9:40. I explained that we wanted to grab the In-N-Out Buns which, are only available at the bar before heading to our 10 PM reservation upstairs. Wolfe asked that we head straight to our reservation instead, promising to make the baos happen if we mentioned his name. We arrive at 9:35, only to be told to wait. Weird considering they were supposedly in a rush for me to order the second I arrived?? When I'm finally seated, it took a while for anyone to come by. Finally, when our waiter comes by, I mention Wolfe's promise about the baos, and my waiter says, "Well, I talked to Wolfe too, and we can only give it to you to-go." But why when I had already planned to eat at the bar first, then head up for my reservation?? Maybe updating your reservation timings on OpenTable would avoid issues? After we finally order, our waiter returns to inform us that the only things left on the menu are a steak and a fish, and now he can "make the baos happen." Lol, alright. The baos, when they finally arrive, were as delicious as expected, but the shrimp chips were 100% stale. When I point this out, our waiter awkwardly laughs and walks away. A minute later, he returns to say "unfortunately, that's just how they are." Seriously? What?? Service 0/5. I don't care how good the rest of the food was, the service absolutely ruined my experience. read more

I was on a business trip and took my team to Bao Brewhouse before heading to an Avalanche game. (FYI, easy walk to Ball Arena.) I wish I could bring this place to my home! Service was great. The Tap Room is a lively atmosphere while I perked at the Tea Room. It seemed more like a date night atmosphere. Now the food...holy mother! It was so good! I did not get a photo of the Big on the Pig dumplings (despite three orders), but these, the Shrimp Shumai, and the Pork Xiao Long Bao were my absolute favorites! If in Denver, make the time to dine. If you want the Tea Room, their reservations start later than Tap Room, I would recommend booking if it's a weekend or game night. read more

This spot came highly recommended by a local, and it might just be my new favorite Chinese restaurant. The food is served family-style, but my boyfriend devoured an entire order of the cheeseburger dumplings on his own, he loved them that much (not pictured). The fried rice portion was massive, easily enough to share between three people when paired with other dishes. The service was excellent, and the staff were super friendly, even jumping in to share their personal favorites and recommendations, which we really appreciated. We sat upstairs in the tea room where the music was bumping, so if you're looking for a quieter vibe or don't want to raise your voice to chat, I'd recommend grabbing a table downstairs instead. This was my family and my first night in Denver. We went to Bao for dinner and it was outstanding. Layla and Maria were super kind servers. One of our dishes was late because there was a mistake in the kitchen and the server took it off the bill, apologizing about the mistake. We didn't mind because they were so polite about it. The food was delicious. Especially the mother Cluckers and the bluefin tuna crispy rice roll. Beautiful environment. I highly recommend!! read more

This place is super underplayed. My husband I sat in the lower level tap room. We sat at a communal table but felt like we very much had our own space. The restaurant is stylistically perfect, neon, and so very cool. The food matched the vibes. This part of the restaurant is contactless, so you order from a QR code and pace out your own food/drink. We loved everything we ate so follow your stomach and eat to your hearts content. We got two rounds of Asian brews to try as much as possible on the beer menu. read more

Downtown is just a bunch of darkly lit restaurants upstairs because the only light upstairs were all red. It was difficult to read the menu and you can't adjust the candle because it's a real fire instead of just decorative light. When we were here, they had a DJ so it was kinda loud. This is an Asian fusion restaurant so everything was quite pricey. The soup dumplings were very small compared to other locations that are small Asian family owned restaurants. I am really conflicted about this place because it is great but also mostly bad at the same time. Not consistent at all. GOOD: -I ordered their Yang kwei fei. It is a smoked duck entree. It's incredible. The duck is the best duck I have ever had. All the ingredients in this dish pair really well together. -Nice decor, I love how different the two levels are. BAD: -Their deal unlimited dumplings is a total scam. They limit the time you can be there 1.5 hours, but then will only bring you 4 dumplings everything 30 min if you are lucky. Sometimes taking longer so really they come out barely bringing you barely any food and you spend your whole visit just sitting around not eating. They claim to serve every 18-25 minutes. Which is a long time already to wait and can't even honor that. Totally disrespectful to their customers. -Prices expensive. - I also just can't get behind a place that just doesn't have a happy hour when they are so pricey. That's a red flag in my opinion. - Rice was not cooked well. It was hard and dried out. - Staff are slow here, you will have to flag them down for everything. -The ingredients in my drink were not fresh. The garnish leaf was brown. Honestly I would not come back to this place regardless of the fact that my Yang kwei fei was so good. Good luck to them having loyal customers with the way they treat those dining in. read more

Bao Brewhouse is such a vibe in downtown Denver, and the food truly delivers. We had the wings and the Mongolian steak fried rice, and both were phenomenal. The wings were perfectly crispy with just the right amount of flavor and heat, easily some of the best I've had in Denver. The Mongolian steak fried rice was packed with tender, flavorful steak and a rich, savory sauce that tied everything together beautifully. On top of that, Caleb was an amazing server, attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience even better. We came here for a weekend dinner. The staff was super friendly. When we ordered something that they had run out of, they gave us a replacement dish for free. They brought extra, free food and drinks for our kids. They were very thoughtful. The vibe is trendy and fun. It's a great place for a night out with friends. It was sweet, but not overly done. For food. we ordered: DIY spring rolls - think spring rolls meets lettuce wraps. You put the spring roll in a lettuce cup and top it with sauces and toppings EV-erything mushroom dumplings - a delicious small bite that sits in a shallow serving of sauce Big on the pig - stir fried pork potstickers Shrimp Shumai - traditional small bite shumai Garlic fried rice with crab - this was a large dish packed with lots of veggies Spicy yaki-soba - soba noodles with veggies. We had roasted duck and chicken with ours. Drunken noodle - I loved this dish. The noodles were al dente and full of flavor. However, it is not a true dining experience because you order all your food via a QR code and do not have dedicated service. This is a great option to have a quick quality dinner before going to an event or sports game at Ball Arena. This dining experience is smaller plates meant to be shared. I do not know if the price is the best value for what you get. However, the food quality is good. The staff that does come to serve you drinks and food after ordering are very kind. There is seating upstairs to have a more intimate dining experience, but it requires reservations. You can usually easily get a spot at a high top table on the main floor. Personally, I really like the decor in the vibe inside. I will return here but not go out of my way. read more

ambiance here is great, but the food and service could use improvement. first, i was given a pork bao bun instead of my tofu one i had ordered. i understand mistakes happen, but because i had already paid, the only compensation i was given was a free shot. the thought is nice, but when paying 16$ for 2 bao buns, and having my first bite of meat in 10 years because of this mistake, i was pretty bothered. i've worked at restaurants before; when mistakes happen, you can refund people for a certain amount to comp them, or offer a free / discount the next time they come. also, lots of people avoid pork for religious or cultural reasons, and to assume that a shot would make it up to someone for this is a big assumption to make. the explanation i was given for the mistake was "both the tofu bao buns and pork bao buns start with the word fried" -- i just think this could have been handled differently and with more care than was given secondly, there aren't many small plate appetizers and i think they could add some more onto the menu, everything food related is pretty expensive -- like $14+. it's very expensive for what you get and i think there's a lot more places in denver with more authentic food that is cheaper and better. read more

I used to frequent this space when it was Euclid Hall; have been to Bao before but only for a beer. This time I was curious about the food. Loved the house music that was playing - gave an energetic vibe. You pick your seat in the tap room and then click the QR Code to look at the menu, and place an order. Good happy hour prices that go until 5:00. I was able to get my order in just at 5! Beer, everything mushroom dumplings, pork long Bao and garlic fried rice. The best thing here was the soup dumpling but it also wasn't the best. I got one cocktail and it was bad, similar to something you would get from Chili's. Before a concert at Ball Arena we came here for some food and it did not disappoint! Highly recommend making a reservation, we had no wait when we came. The QR codes on the table are so neat because not only do they bring up the menu, but also that's where you order and pay. It was so convenient, and everything came out so quickly! I chose the maple miso chicken skewers, and I was amazed at how good they were. The sauce was to die for and the chicken was cooked perfectly. Teo was plenty for me because I was very hungry. They will bring out forks at your request. There are stairs to get in, and the bathroom is up more stairs. I'm not sure if an elevator is available or not. The bathroom was super clean, and the tea room was beautiful. All the seating on the main floor is bar stools with no backs, like bar seating. Hey guys! We booked a reservation a few days in advance to celebrate a birthday, our reservation was at 8:15. We got our table at 8:55, understandable if tables prior had taken longer or they were busy however when we received our table we waited an additional 35 minutes for our drinks to come. As someone who works in the service industry it is completely understandable Saturday nights get busy however there was no acknowledgment to the situation. My recommendation is if you have dinner plans, plan accordingly. This spot is great for a date night with the dark atmosphere and our server was friendly.
