Turns out he never put in the order for my meal at all. Got 1/4 items right. Didn't even get my meal. After 50 min of waiting I was expecting him to offer to make it on the house. This is not a drill...I was brought to the absolute best breakfast meal I've ever had. Talk about unique, satisfying, quality, and aesthetic. This was our first stop on our way to Harvard and I hardly could decide on what to get. My friend got the Mochi Berry Waffle, added a side of potatoes, and an oat milk ice coffee. I ultimately got the breakfast combo which came with a choice of pao bread (I remember there was a basic, garlic, and guava), scrambled eggs, and thick sliced bacon. I also ordered a pistachio matcha latte. You order at the counter and choose your table. We got the window table at the smaller dining area. It was completely empty when we began and it was very quiet. But this place fills up quickly! So make sure you get there early to find parking and have the ultimate breakfast. The pao bread was heeeeavvvvyy in weight and light in sweetness. Filled with guava jam of some sort, chewy mochi like bread, crispy outside. The scrambled eggs were perfect and a great portion. And the bacon. OMG the bacon was thick cut, perfectly cooked, more like pork jerky coated in a caramelization of the bacon fat. My type of bacon. The matcha latte was quite sweet. I think it was the pistachio, which I'm not certain but it seems like they use the pump flavored syrups. So that's probably where the sweetness came from. A very cute spot! It's clean and spacious. This is a place I would go for the environment more than the food. I really appreciated how distanced yet wide each table was. Even though it's open, it still feels like there's a sense of privacy due to all the space between each seating area. A cute gem I didn't expect to find in Somerville! We came on a Sunday for the first time and had no idea how PACKED it would be! Cafe in Inman Square! I wanted to gatekeep this place when my friend first brought me here, because it honestly might be my favorite brunch spot in Boston and Cambridge. Their "handcrafted sandwiches" are cool (you're not here to get a bacon, egg, and cheese on a bagel) and they are bangers, the mochi waffles are big and come with lots of toppings, and they have some pretty unique specialties like their breakfast gnocchi and benedicts served on pan de quiejo. They also have a sizable drink menu (tea, matcha, juice, coffee, etc.) and I'm big fan of their matcha fruit drinks and seasonal cold brews. The space has a good amount of seating compared to most cafes, and is set up for smaller groups (two to four people). Vibes are clean, simple, and modern; during the week it's a good spot for getting work done (free wifi and a lot of WFH-ers here), and on the weekends it becomes a busy spot for people to catch up. Additional note: I think about their pan de quiejo sandwiches a lot. This place is truly the bom.com and like nothing I've tried before!! I'm getting giddy just writing this review but first of all, the ambiance of the place was so cute and clean, minimalistic but with enough personality to entice you in and an awesome place to study and do work at with tons of space, natural lighting, and outlets! I was so focused and grinding through my work until all of a sudden, the food came. I ordered a ham and cheese bun and a pesto pao de queijo. I took a bite of the pesto and had to stop because I was absolutely in awe, speechless in fact, because of how much life was in this tiny bread. It was crispy on the outside but warm and cheesy, but not obnoxiously so, on the inside. It was giving mochi donut vibes but savory and the spice on the top was just enough additional flavor to be added to the whole puff. This was becoming a dangerous activity, I felt like I could pop a whole army of these pao de queijo in my mouth. Forget about mozzarella sticks, these should be coined as the new snack! But then, I tried the ham and cheese and was so taken aback because I'm not sure if I can go back to a regular American ham and cheese sandwich again. Not only was the bread the same texture as the first mini pao, but the ham was cutely cubed in this oozing cheese and there were all these additional spices that made it feel like a dance was happening inside your mouth, it was incredible! And to top it all off, I've been on a pistachio flavored drink kick recently and knew I had to try the pistachio matcha latte. I swear it gave me my second wind of hope. Bom dough becomes less Brazilian and less customer friendly every single time I come in. They do not use real condensed milk in their coffees, they stopped making the brigadeiro cookie, and they changed their menu. Now there is a new policy (that isn't stated on the menu or online) that you are not allowed to make any substitutions. I have ordered the classic eggs benedict multiple times at this exact location and substituted potatoes every time. If you have any doubts, there's two other yelp reviews from a few months ago that show they also substituted potatoes on the same dish. The employees are kind and unfortunately seem very fearful of the owner as it was stated multiple times that they would lose their job if they honored the substitution that has been done previously. I don't know what this owner is trying to accomplish but forcing people to pay $7 for a side of potatoes and threatening your own staff probably isn't the goal you should have for running your business. Amazing Brazilian cafe with an extensive menu of food and drinks. We got the brazilian chocolate, and doce de leche po de queijos. They were both great, especially the doce de leite! However, I do wish the po de queijos were bigger because it cost around $4.55 for a small dough that you can finish in three bites. If you love matcha, you have to get their seasonal maple matcha lemonade which is interestingly really yummy given that I am an matcha enthusiasts and have a very high expectations for matcha beverages. The strawberry matcha with ginger lemonade on the other hand wasn't as yummy as the maple in my opinion. Overall, it is a cute cafe to visit with good food and beverage options and ample seatings. The menu is big, so I decided to first try one of their classics with the pao de quejio combo which came with fluffy scrambled eggs and arugula salad. Bom Dough is Starbucks' prettier sister in the world of coffee shops (at least in Somerville/Cambridge). The space is bright, clean, and very well taken care of on top of having a great flow to how you order and sit down. The staff is super friendly and on top of the usual coffee and tea offerings, they feature a Brazilian-inspired menu with their cheesy bread and sandwiches. The star of the show is the po de queijo (cheesy bread bites), which are light and airy (and extremely difficult to make... I've done it before). They go perfectly with some of the drinks they have, and I also ordered the Wicked Smoked Brisket at the suggestion of the cashier/server. It's very well done, and I'm not a brisket guy. The balance of the flavors on the brioche bun made it a superb meal to go with my garlic po de queijo and chai spiced iced latte. It's only been open for 4 months or so, so it's still very much in it's infancy... but should NOT be discounted in how you view the quality or value to be had. I wish I lived closer or there was an easier way for me to get there, but alas, I will make the trek to enjoy some of these delicious cheesy treats in the near future. If you are a fan of coffee, cheese, or just a cool new place to check out - bom is indeed the bomb (bad joke/pun there, I know). It's a good value compared to some of the other well-known coffee houses in the area and I think they MAY have more to offer than any of the ones I've been to recently.
