Last year 2022 crawfish season I stopped getting crawfish from here. They were always small or tasted muddy. Another issue I have with this place is that they sell fresh hot crawfish for a certain price and they sold cold crawfish for a cheaper price. So when I go in and ask for hot crawfish I expect hot crawfish. Well the crawfish I was given was barely even warm. Don't think it's right to charge these different prices when I would've been better off buying cold crawfish for cheaper. My grandma used to get shrimp from here to make seafood gumbo and last year 2022 the shrimp they gave her completely ruined the gumbo. They were also small and slimy. Not shopping here again for any seafood. Not to mention parking at the business is terrible. read more

I eat here often and will probably continue to do so because they do have some of the best prices and flavored seafood in Hammond. I love the abundance of frozen options they sell as well. However, if you are planning to dine in for hot boiled seafood, you will be disappointed. The "hot" boiled seafood is always served ice cold, room temperature at best. Why is B and J's not putting their boiled seafood into ice chests as soon as it comes out the boiling pot? Literally every other seafood place does this, so that it actually STAYS HOT. B and J's literally just leaves it sitting on a counter to get cold. Please get some ice chests! I'm tired of cold boiled seafood. I will add, that if you ask the waitresses to dip the cold seafood back in the boiling pot to heat it back up, the waitresses will do it, but they will be annoyed that you asked, as if you are causing them an enormous inconvenience. This place is always packed during crawfish season and impossible to get in touch with over the phone for orders on off season. The hours are terrible bc they close so early. But the food is the best seafood around! There poboys are to die for and the gumbo leaves me speechless. Just had a half shrimp half catfish poboy today and it was phenomenal. Sadly it was not great food and even worse service :-( pretty much everything is batter and fried, and the batter needs some seasoning. Boudin balls and crab cake was ok. I was definitely more envious of the people eating the crawfish boils as they got it quick, we waited 1.5 hours for all fried food, that came out with cold shrimp and then freezing cold baked macaroni that she then took back and just microwaved. What a great place to have lunch in or take out! We are visiting the area and a local recommend we get some crawfish here and we are all thankful we did. We got 5 lbs of crawfish, seafood plater and a po-boy shrimp sandwich. There were four of us and it was enough food to feed six. Pretty solid boiled seafood place. We stopped here on our way back to Jackson from New Orleans and had a hankering for some mud bugs. This was the closest place to our pit stop. Price were ok - the mud bags were seasoned pretty decent. They didn't wow me, but I wasn't disappointed either. But if you are in Hammond and want some boiled seafood - this is pretty much your only option from what I've seen. read more

This was my first time coming here. They had crawfish 1.99/lb if you ordered it to go! (Can't beat that price at all) I only got a few lbs just in case I didn't care for the crawfish! We were wanting boiled crawfish while traveling from Texas to Florida. We called several places and was told the same thing, no crawfish for a few more weeks. We called this place and the lady was so nice over the phone. We arrived and it was a busy place. We sat and ate 9 pounds of excellent boiled crawfish. Met the owner and bought a few things to take home to boil crawfish there. Our waitress was very friendly. The full time we were there it stayed busy. We will return there again. read more

Don't get your oysters here because your gallon or half gallon will not have much in it at all. They tell you that's the right amount in fact it's not. I have counted and weighed them before. They are not correct they cheat you out of a lot of oysters. Go get your shoes at Michael's Seafood they fill the container to the right capacity. There much bigger at Michael's Seafood also. And their recipe to seafood gumbo is definitely not all that. They do make good potato salad though. There customer service is good. read more

I just had to write this review! I don't even know who owns this place, but the seafood is excellent. I have been a customer there since after hurricane Katrina, when they moved up to Hammond. The best seafood in town, and the freshest, at a reasonable price. I just had the best salmon (of all things in southeast La.) I have ever eaten in my life! I would recommend this place to anyone, whether you eat it there, or take it out. They also have the best French bread you can buy around here. Had some boiled shrimp and a shrimp po-boy special. The boiled shrimp were a bit disappointing. I did not care for the seasoning, and they were quite difficult to peel. The shrimp po-boy took a long time to receive, however, it was surprisingly good. Got some fresh crabmeat and it was good. Unfortunately I was unable to find decent seafood in the area until someone from New Orleans told me about this hidden gem in Hammond. Sometimes the crawfish tastes off but the deeper into the season you get, the better they are. Stopped this morning and got ten pounds of crawfish, some mushrooms, and corn. I like super spicy seafood. It wasn't super spicy but it did it's job! Of course I had to wait in line for 20 minutes but I was okay with that. Ate lunch here a few weeks ago with family. All of us got poboys or seafood salads. It was a Friday and as we drove up, I noticed the parking lot was packed; the first indication that the food is good. We found a table and placed our order. Took a while, but it was worth it. Food was excellent. I had a salad topped with boiled shrimp-really good. Everyone said their sandwiches and salads were good. Recommend this place. We will likely go again. read more

My wife and I absolutely loved this restaurant. I had the hot sausage poboy with a cup of gumbo and my wife had the shrimp poboy with the gumbo also. The food was awesome! Very disappointed. Reserved a sack of crawfish that was supposed to be spillway crawfish. I paid $0.20 extra a pound for the larger spillway crawfish instead of the smaller pond crawfish. The size was horrible!!! No one large crawfish in the sack, not one! And they were more expensive than Michael's seafood down the road. Never again!! read more
