We a Walked in to the alarm panel beeping in the foyer and napkins and food on the bar area floor We were seated in a booth and ordered cocktails and an appetizer. The "spicy" Marg was a syrupy drink that was long on sweet and short on spice. We enjoyed the pickle fries. Hubs had a Swiss burger that was decent. The real disappointment was the chicken quesadilla-the tomatoes seemed as if they were something of a steed canned tomato, the cheese a melted velvetta consistency and the chicken barely there. The tortillas were not fresh. Unfortunately they were sent back to the kitchen. Not sure if the fact they were ready long before hubby's burger was (server notified us the quesadillas were ready and being "held" till the burger came out) was the issue? Went here after work for drinks and dinner. It was a very quiet night at Applebee's. I really love Applebee's food. Plus, the memories it bring with it. I'm not sure where this place took a wrong turn. Seemed that everyone was doing a job that was independent of everyone else. This lead to delays in seating, ordering and meals. It was so strange. The drinks were okay along with the average meal. I wish that I could say that something stuck out. If it wasn't for Yelp, I would have forgotten that I had a picture of the drink to post. My "double crunch" fried shrimp, which was definitely previously frozen and didn't have much crunch at all, took another THIRTY MINUTES, and then did not come with the french fries. I declined the fries after another 10-15 minutes. The waitress was very apologetic and she was great. Also, the men's restroom was filthy and reeked of urine. I mentioned this to the male bartender but he didn't seem to care. I had to use the restroom again a few minutes later - and nothing had changed. This Applebee's gets bad reviews on yelp, but I did want to go there anyway and try it out because I like Applebee's I was disappointed that they had taken the Asian wrap off of their menu. That's why they lost one star. our server. John was very personable and helpful with menu questions. I had the appetizer sampler everything on. I havent been to an applebees in SO long but I liked it here! We came for veterans day and it was free entree :) They gave us all $5 giftcards to their restaurant too. Now onto the food... We asked our sirloin to be cooked medium rare but it came out well done unfortunately. I also got the chicken caesar salad and it was really good but the chicken tasted weird to me. We went on Halloween excited to try the Boozy Buckets. We were sat at a table for 15 mins with no one acknowledging our existence. When we waved down a waiter he said okay as he walked away without apologizing or attempting to take our orders. We waved down the waitress who sat us and she said they were overwhelmed and busy. Me and my little sister went to go have lunch and were in the mood for a place with a good variety of food to choose from that was near by. We ended up choosing Applebee's. Once we arrived parking was good. It had its own parking area with a spacious location near SPID. It was pretty empty (especially since it was lunch time). Once we arrived we stood there for a minute and we were noticed a couple times by various employees and still never seated nor asked to choose to sit anywhere. The cleanliness of the restaurant was decent and after a couple minutes a hostess came back out and then seated us. We then were greeted by our waitress who was very sweet and got our drinks and handed us a menu. We decided to order the 2 for $20. We both got the 2 side Cesar salads and I ordered the 8 oz. Top Sirloin with green beans and broccoli. My sister ordered the Grilled Salmon with double Broccoli. Both plates added an extra $9 to the special since we got the sirloin and salmon. We also ordered wings on the side. Once we received our meal I was a little saddened by the presentation and the size of our meal. It wasn't the same look nor size of the picture. The salmon was tiny and the taste of the fish was bland and the sirloin was chewy and seemed like it wasn't even prepared right at all with no seasoning. the only thing that had taste was the wings and that wasn't even part of the special. 2/5/2023 It's 3:00pm and there seems to be no manager here today. The bar tender says she is overwhelmed with our 1 table. As she tells a lady at the bar her personal problem. It took 30 min to get recognized that we where setting and 10 more to get water. I had to go interrupt her conversation to remind her we hadn't ordered. She answered me by saying she usually doesn't work on Sundays. As the bartender I'm not sure why that would matter. After eating our meal I gave her my card to pay. She took it and went back to the only person sitting at the bar to continue her personal drama story. After 10 min I had to go to her and ask her to please pause her story and run my card so we could leave. She gave me an annoyed look and walked over to the register. When she brought me my receipt she was very nice and thanked me and said sorry for everything taking so long. But she was just overwhelmed at the moment. Being that we where the only table be served in the bar area and the lady at the bar wasn't eating, I can't see how she could have been overwhelmed with just one table to attend to. I'm a frequent visitor to the Applebee's on my side of town. Usually, the food is delicious and the service is excellent but today, I was VERY disappointed in the kitchen staff and the manager. When we first got there, there was no hostess out front so we had to wait almost 10 minutes for someone to come and greet us and take us to our table (should have been a sign to leave right away because there was hardly a lot of people here... but we stayed) We were told that Eric would be our waiter and he'd be right with us. Brought the first drink ordered but my sister and niece had to wait almost 10 minutes for their drinks (the place was not crowded but we were told they were switching out shifts) We ordered apps (which were brought out very quickly) My sister (who is diabetic) didn't order apps. My nieceand I, ate our apps and waited for our food to come. Another 15 minutes passed and still no food . We watched as other customers came in, ordered their food and recieved food. Still, no food made it to our table. Another 15 minutes passed by. (By this time, I was getting very annoyed but my sister told me to be patient) I watched as hot, sizzling food came from the kitchen and passed us right up. Frustrated, I called our waitress over and asked her how much longer it would be because my niece only ordered a burger and my sister had the shrimp and steak. She made some kind of comment like there was an issue in the kitchen but we continued to watch more food come out of the kitchen to other customers. Finally, I asked to speak to the manager. As the manager approched our table, I could tell by the look on her face that she was feeling some type of way. She asked what the problem was and we told her that we had been here for over 30 minutes waiting on our food while new customers were being served. Instead of trying to rectify the situation, she asked "What do you want me to do about it?" (Highly upset at this point) My sister told her to just bring us the check so we could pay for our drinks and apps. Soon as the manager walked away and the waitress came out with our food and brought us our ticket for $90. Instead of making a scene .. which I'm sure they were expecting us to do) we paid and took our food to go. This is the worst service I've ever had at any restaurant here in Corpus in the 18 years that I've lived here. The manager's lack of remorse was sickening. She acted like she could care less that we recieved crappy service. Needless to say, we will NEVER ever visit this location again. I tried to tell my sister that our horrible treatment had nothing to do with the color of our skin but she believes otherwise. We were the only African American's in the place and we were the ONLY ONES who got our ticket to pay for our food before our entrees ever touched the table. Service like this should never be allowed in a restaraunt to any paying customer. The waitress was so patient and kind. This situation had absolutely nothing to do with her. And that is why we left her a $20 tip. Any other time... I would have left without eating or paying one red scent. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. This location will never recieve our business again. It was a nice Monday night with my best friend we sat at the bar with an older guy who's name started with a B. He had jokes and kept us entertained. The lights weren't too bright there were a couple of cute dates around. It wasn't dusty like some franchises. It was a little bit not super. The bar was dirty with dessert. Don't do it. Just don't. My husband and I showed up at 230 on a Saturday. The floors that weren't sticky, were covered in food partials and trash. Bathrooms were awful, doors didn't lock, trash all over the floor, and dirty all around. We were sat quickly and ordered waters. It took 20 minutes for our waiter to bring us waters. He stopped by once in that 20 minutes and said he would get our waters once he "got around to getting back there" . At that same time we put in an order for an appetizer sampler; he didn't ask us if we wanted to order anything, we had to catch him and call him back before he could scurry off again.
