The shop rarely answers the phone and when I do get through, I'm given vague or shifting timelines about when the job will be finished. I've had to call repeatedly just to get basic updates. A transmission repair can take time, but clear communication is the least a customer should expect. Unfortunately, that hasn't been my experience. He checked out the little problem and said "I could begin replacing things but I'm not sure that would solve the issue." He then advised us to hold off for a while. My husband was so impressed...especially since with our other car at home the dealer forces us to spend a fortune on stuff we don't need or they will "void the warranty."
