Got a salad here for lunch for a healthier option. Kale chicken caesar salad - The lettuce and kale were fresh and the cherry tomatoes were flavorful. Stopped here for a quick bite while in Downtown, and was satisfied! The restaurant is very clean and has ample seating. It reminds me of upscale fast food, perhaps is a bit healthier. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with an order of fries and a bottled water. It was about $19, so on the more expensive side. The sandwich was EXCELLENT. The chicken was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. The cheese and lettuce/tomato were super good as well. It comes with Chipotle aioli, and I added avocado to it, but apparently it was purée instead of sliced avocado. It was very good but a little messy to eat because the sandwich ended up being very saucy. I also tried their fries, but honestly they weren't that great. I think they were intended to be on the healthier side, but they tasted like they weren't fried to the full extent, they were a bit on the soggy side. I would skip the fries and go for the sandwiches/burgers here. My friend also got an açaí bowl which she really enjoyed, but she asked for a vanilla protein powder addition and they didn't mix into the bowl, so she just got powder on top which was harder to work with. read more

Good size portions! I was full after eating the Harvest bowl with chicken (extra). The ratio of the chicken to quinoa and kale was weak though. I paid an extra $2.50 for maybe half a chicken breast amount. I ended up with a ton of extra quinoa at the bottom. I ordered the farmhouse burger which was absolutely delicious but it was ruined after discovering a piece of plastic in the burger. Luckily the bite I took did not chip a tooth. The manager was very apologetic and even offered to cover my lunch for tomorrow but I can't fathom the idea of returning to the establishment where plastic was in my food. I was only in Boston for a short time, but I came here twice. I had the grilled chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries and then the avocado toast with bacon and egg. All delicious. I loved that the sweet potato fries were oven baked (my inner dietitian rejoiced), the serving sizes were not too large or small, and the service was friendly and prompt. I used to eat here frequently, but over the years it doesn't meet my satisfaction. Most of the food is grilled; however, to my taste is over grill. I am not a fan of burned food or burned bread. Some people love those grill marks, I don't and the bread or chicken here is over grilled, burned. The fries are good. They stopped carrying the watermelon juice, but there are many other options. It's the way the food comes now that keeps me away from what it was my favorite place. Look at the menu images. It can varied from restaurant to restaurant, so if I order from here, it would have to be in person, so my bread doesn't get over cooked with heavy burn marks on both sides. read more

I was looking for a healthy lunch and saw this place and decided to give it a try. I'm vegetarian but I don't eat onions or garlic. I explained it to the guy and he handed me this legit book of ingredients for b.good that listed out pretty much everything. I went through it and discovered that pretty much 98% of their sauces were off limits and some other prepared ingredients so I ended up modifying my order. Out of the choices, I chose the vegan Asian grain bowl because the rest had the aforementioned ingredients and it would pretty much change the entire thing. No sauce, olive oil on the side. I was tempted to add in the sweet potato fries which ate safe, but I didn't want to overdo it. The bowl was substantial. I also sprinkled a bit of salt over it and though not used to eating enoki mushrooms raw, it wasn't bad. I finished a little over half and then took the rest home to finish. I imagine it would be tastier with an actual sauce/dressing, especially when I was paying $10 for it. In the end, it was an okay experience with decent and healthy food - just not a lot of options. They did get a steady stream of customers while I was there so something must be done right. The tables weren't too clean though but they have decent restrooms that you need a key to use. I was in the other day to try out the new breakfast menu. I ordered the classic egg bowl and there was a promotion so I got an acai bowl for free. There's usually a long line here so I came around 10:30 and it was empty. The egg bowl was delicious. It tasted fresh and there was thick pieces of bacon in it. I was too full to eat the acai bowl so I saved it for lunch. It kept really well in the fridge, even the banana, and I enjoyed it. It's not super filling so I needed something else, but it would be perfect for breakfast. Looking forward to trying the other bowls in the future! read more

While we were on a walking tour of Boston, we got hungry and started keeping an eye out for places we could eat at when the tour was over with. We passed B.Good and saw the Beyond Burger sign in the window. BINGO! That's our place, being a vegan and a vegetarian and knowing how good Beyond products are. We went back after the tour and got our burgers. Very, very good! Better than we make them at home. A great tasting bun, tasty B.Good sauce, totally recommend it. A friend emailed me a code for a free cup of homemade chili that B. Good had sent to him to share with a friend. Thanks friend! The cool thing was that if I redeemed it prior to the end of their business day on Friday March 1st, not only did I get a free cup of chilli, but they'd donate an additional cup of chilli to a homeless person at one of six homeless shelters the following week. Nice! So I went to redeem the code and added in an order of their sweet potato fries $2.89 (hand-cut every day from Carolina Sweets), and walked over to wait for my name to be called. I thought service was pretty good - when I inquired as to dipping sauces for my sweet potato fries - do you have honey mustard? - I wasn't just directed to the options along the counter (ketchup, mayo, mustard, as well as the bottled stuff such as malt vinegar, and at least two hot sauce options including the Asian rooster type brand. Rather I was given the sauce that is usually served with Cousin Oliver (the burger) as something to try. Sure, I didn't end up caring for it much, and went back to traditional ketchup, but still, I appreciated the effort. The sweet potato fries themselves, by the way, were the wimpy soft sort. But at least they did retain that sweet spud flavor I was looking for. The odd thing was, given that they advertise their fries as hand cut, there were many little pieces among the somewhat longer fries. Those were more difficult to slather with the ketchup on the way to my mouth. Described as a homemade 4-bean chili (cheddar, sour cream, scallions), I was pleasantly surprised to find kernels of corn bobbing here and there. The portion was good, the chili had a bit of a heat to it. Chock full of beans, it was pretty thick. Napkin holders were placed intermittently along the counter that I sat myself at by the window, but if you should want to grab some plasticware or to bust your metal tray after you're done, the only spot seemed to be along the wall furthest from the door by the soda fountain - yes, so weave your way in that way, and back again toward the exit. The odd room flow made it tough to succeed at making a quick getaway. Free Wi-Fi available - just ask for the password. *** 6/2013 *** Same friend, another freebie code share. This time for the STRAWBERRY GOAT CHEESE SALAD $7.59 (baby spinach, strawberries, goat cheese, caramelized onions, candied walnuts, balsamic vinaigrette). I added an order of their current Seasonal Veggies $3.59 (grilled zucchini w/ basil, balsamic & parm). And good thing I did. The salad was a decent portion, yet I needed the side to feel satiated. The salad was fresh and tasty. The zucchini was tasty as well, freshly prepared for me, and tender without being overcooked, but the portion seemed a bit skimpy for the price. On this trip, I realized that there is a second spot to drop off your trash just a few yards from the cashiers. *** 7/2013 *** Same story as the last - this time with the blueberry shake. It had some interesting sweet lumps in it that I liked, but it turns out I'm not one much for blueberries in a shake form. Additionally I ordered the crisp veggies $3.59 which were indeed crisp (at least the broccolini rabe, since tomatoes and the meaty mushrooms aren't expected to be crisp once cooked). A good portion, and tasty. A bit of a service ding was that I noticed my shake all ready to the left of the cashier, while my veggies sat sogging up in a box on the right, being nudged one step closer to the cashier at a time as the preceding burgers were wrapped and distributed. b.good used to be my favorite restaurant chain, so much so that I received a gift card recently. Less than a week after getting the gift card I went to a location and they refused to accept it because "Their new system doesn't accept gift cards". I went to another location and got the same answer and after talking to both managers I left hangry and sad. I tried reaching out in every way I could, their website, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook only to hear total silence on the other end. Not only are they not responding, but they also deleted the photo I commented on. Why are they being so shady?? They are breaking the law (the Massachusetts Gov. I wish I could justify spending $8+ on lunch everyday, because I love being close to b.good. While delicious and awesome, it classifies as a once in a while treat because it's just too much price wise. I've only had the turkey burgers here because they are tasty and it's hard to move away from. They could use a little more spice in the ground turkey in the cooking process, but they are very good and simple, and the toppings make it less bland. The sweet potato fries are delicious and not too processed. If you go in during the fall, do yourself a favor and get the pumpkin shake, with ice cream or yogurt, depending on how you want it. It's deliciously spiced and perfect. The staff was super friendly here when I came in, and I ate my turkey burger there instead of taking it to go. My only comment is that the tables don't seem very clean, but I really think it was just the paint job on them that made them look dirty. B good. But not great. I B unimpressed, but also B unsurprised. Whenever I see a place whose specialty is burgers, with wood counters and a heavy sprinkling of "organic" and "grass-fed" all over its signage, I get suspicious. Because, for all its patriotic glory, a burger B, deep down, just a ground up piece of low-grade meat on bread. And my sense is the higher the profit margin B, the place will put decor over flavor and squeeze every cent they can get out of that little patty. B good pretty much fits that description. There B a lot of pretty tasty choices on the menu, but they mainly come down to the same decent meat sandwich. The bread is a pretty awful choice, though, it tastes like it's that store-bought whole wheat bread, the kind that sticks to the roof of your mouth and has a flavor roughly similar to dish sponge. Clean dish sponge, but still. The fries B tasty, but I take offense at a burger that comes without fries. That's like a horse without a carriage. Like love without marriage. This is a huge B.good, but it also gets crazy crowded for the lunch rush. I drop by here mostly because sometimes I really crave their sweet potato fries. They're open at 11am, 30 minutes earlier than most lunch places. It's pretty much deserted right at 11am so definitely drop by then if you want to beat the rush. The service here can only be described as "meh." A lot of the staff definitely look like they would rather be in bed, and kind of move at a sluggish pace sometimes which can be annoying when there's a huge line and you only have some time for lunch. Their burgers are pretty good - nice and meaty, and they have a lot of different toppings which is nice. I love their sweet potato fries. However, recently I've gotten their kale and grain bowls and they are absolutely awful. The quinoa is very soggy and not well done at all, and their sauce selection is very meh. It is my understanding that there are quite a few B. Good chains on the east coast, and I hope they move out to California someday (particularly near my house). Not sure I would travel a long distance to eat at B. Good, but I would certainly eat there frequently if one was built near me. Definitely one of the best places I ate while at Boston. Food: I actually have a lot of vegetarian friends, and I think this would definitely be a happy medium for both parties. Don't get me wrong, I'm not exactly a healthy eater, but I do appreciate healthier options from time to time, especially when I'm on the road. The all-natural ingredients certainly intrigued me, and I decided to give their burger a try because I do like fresh, natural burgers and I certainly could taste it in both the burger and fries. While the food convinced me to go back, what's going to keep me as a regular customer (as soon as they make one near me in California) is their fountain drinks. Even the selection of beverages are all natural, and while soda was a available, I don't really drink soda anymore so I elected to drink their various lemonades. I know I am weird. In retrospect, I suppose it was impressive since it was a rainy day, but still, if it grabbed my attention, good job staff! I walked in, seen that "natural ingredients" was plastered everywhere and decided to give it a try. Love the fact that kitchen isn't hidden because it refers to a business that has confidence in the product they sell and the staff they trained. Staff: I don't know if I would say that I had a great interaction with the staff in terms of friendliness, but they helped me out, got me my food and kept the area clean. In other words, I have no reason to complain. Price: I suppose this is one of the reasons this place loses a star. While I've had pricier burgers before, I felt that the price wasn't justified. The burger was smaller, which is fine since it is a health conscious place and I got like a handful of fries. It was still enough food to hold me over, but still a bit overpriced, even if it is better quality food. Yes, I took that into account too. In other words, don't go starving to this place! Overall: This is a really solid place to go if you appreciate quality food and beverages, and if you've grown tired of the McDonalds and Jack-In-The-Boxes of the country. I try to support these kinds of places, and hope that this kind of service will catch on. I remember some good times last summer when I'd get my dinner here while on break from an afternoon shift. I haven't been here since then and finally had some time to revisit. I'm a fan of b.good in general but the quality does depend heavily on location. Whatever the reason, the quality of this particular b.good has gone down significantly since I was here last year. First off, the service is mediocre at best. Maybe today they are short staffed. The girl at the counter rolled her eyes at me after she walked away from the register and I asked for a receipt. Very rude, considering all she had to do was give me the receipt that had already printed and I had JUST paid. I ordered my burger patty cooked medium rare and would've accepted medium or even medium well, since meat keeps cooking itself after being taken off the grill. However, my patty was definitely well done. The mushrooms and fries were cold by the time my name was called. Disappointing at the epitome of the definition. Forget climbing down the narrow staircase off Newbury (although that is a little charming)- this place has hustle and bustle, it has the heart of a local burger shop with the speed of a McDonald's. The whole wheat bun makes me smile, the simplicity of the Cousin Oliver makes me want to name my unborn child.... Oliver, and the Peach Tea and Strawberry Lemonade made my meal and walk back to work one of the most pleasant (even in the rainy mist Boston weather today.) So hey you Downtown cronies- why not skip the Mickey D's and Wendy's (and BK too!)
