My central heating stopped working. I called one contractor who said it needed a new gas valve and gave a $950 estimate for the part alone. I contacted Morrison. The technician determined the problem was with the flue cap. My mobile home had recently been reroofed. The flue cap was replaced with the wrong type. We're very happy with the work Morrison's crew did today, and with the whole process. We had them fix our current A/C unit by replacing the whole filter set-up, and they also installed returns into 2 rooms of the house that did not have them and needed them. They worked fast, the work looks good, and everything is working smoothly. Wen exactly how they said it would. They were in at 9:15 and done by 12:30, cleaned up and done. I don't have a lot to compare it to on price, so I can't say if they are super competitive, about right, or pricey, but we're happy with the work and we're going to use them again for another project next month I think.. read more

If frustration, delay and general BS are your idea of a good time, then by all means give BA Morrison a call. I became aware of them this past summer when I saw one of their trucks in my condo development, installing an HVAC system in a neighbor's place. I called them, and was told I would receive a call back shortly from a salesperson. One day goes by, nothing. Two days go by, nothing. I call them again after three days and am told the same thing. Ok fine, It's summer, you're busy, I get that. Finally a week and a half later they call; I decide not to make an issue of it and set up an appointment for them to come out and take a look. Two weeks later, a gentleman by the name of Joe arrives, albeit 40 minutes past the appointed time. Once again, I let it slide, as Joe is affable enough. He spends about 20 minutes or so looking around and then says, "I got what I need, I'll send you a quote in a couple of days..." I did note that the inside of his truck was a mess, and he was out of business cards; the one card he had left to give me was pretty filthy. Hmmm..... A few days roll by and no quote. I call the office and get the (by now I'm used to it) "we'll have someone give you a call back shortly" line. A day or two later I get a call from another rep who said they would email the bid over in the next day or so. That was the last I heard from BA Morrison... I finally got tired of dealing with their general disrespect for my time and lack of ability to deliver anything as promised. I can only imagine what it would be like had I entered into contract with them. After this truly underwhelming experience, my wife & I decided to go with a competitor for our HVAC install. The total job was to the tune of $14k, so BA Morrision's loss turned out to be a competitor's gain. The competitor BTW, did an excellent job. read more

My wife and I bought our house a few years ago -- the house was built in the late 1940s and had a furnace from the Lyndon B. Johnson administration. Even worse, the thin metal ductwork had (1) lost all its insulation over the years and (2) was literally falling apart. So we decided it was time to get both the furnace and duct work replaced. Over the course of a couple of months, I contacted a few different companies for estimates. Some gave me estimates over the phone, never having seen the house or existing furnace/ducts. Some came out but their lack of professionalism was a little off putting. Others never returned my messages. I then saw on Nextdoor a post where someone was seeking recommendations for a similar project, and the almost unanimous recommendation was to contact BA Morrison. I gave them a call and left a message for Mike, the HVAC manager. He called me back later that afternoon and came out and did a walkthrough and took measurements later that day. He answered all of my questions and concerns. A few days later I had a detailed quote that included a number of alternatives (80% efficiency furnace vs. 95% efficiency, prepping the system for air conditioning in the future vs. not doing that, etc.). The quote was very reasonable. I said "let's do it" and we set up an time for the following week. The project took 2.5 days. The two individuals that came out to do the actual work were terrific. Arrived promptly at 8 a.m. each day. Removing a furnace from a closet and duct work from a crawl space is a messy job, but at the end of the day, they cleaned up so well you would have never known any work was being done. Both workers were extremely friendly and took the time to answer questions I had based on what I saw them doing. Equally important, they were flexible when I decided to slightly alter some aspects of the job (I decided part way through that I wanted to have the register "boots" replaced as well as the ducts). After the system was set up, they tested it, arranged for the pressure testing, and handled the entire permitting process. We have had the new furnace and ducts for around 2 weeks and the results have been amazing. The wireless thermostat is super convenient, the house gets warm extremely fast, and with the new insulated ducts and boots, the house maintains its temperature (which it did not do before). I am very happy with the results of the project. Definitely recommend BA Morrison if you are looking to have some HVAC work done! read more

I had B.A. Morrison out about a month ago to install AC in my Livermore home. After having my brother help me with the process and getting different quotes we decided to go with them. Mike, who I believe is the Owner, was very honest and my brother felt comfortable right off the bat which of course made me very happy. He really worked with us to get us the best deal too. On a Friday morning Tyler and Jason came out to my house and were just as nice as could be. They answered all my questions and then I left for the ENTIRE day, came home about 8 hours later and they were completely done and did an AMAZING Job. BA Morrison was called to diagnose a floor furnace that was not working in Castro Valley.. Their technicians arrived and determined that it was a faulty gas valve and that the valve was old and no longer available. They indicated that the entire furnace would have to be replaced for $4000.00, and it would take a number of days to order the new furnace and install. Another heating company was called to diagnose the same problem and their technicians immediately identified a bad pilot and thermocouple assembly on the furnace. The technicians had the parts on their service truck and installed the assembly in 45 minutes. The total cost with travel time was $200.00. The problem with BA Morrison is that they did not diagnose the problem correctly (not a faulty gas valve!) and also they were going to totally replace the entire floor furnace for $4000.00 when the only problem was a pilot and thermocouple assembly. It appears that Morrison was trying to get me to buy a $4000.00 unit when a simple pilot and thermocouple was all that was needed to fix the problem. Because of this experience I was very unhappy! In the future will not select Morrison to do HVAC work! read more

They have always been communicative in terms of scheduling, and have even accommodated me off hours and on the weekends. I called BA Morrison today around 11:15 am for the first time to see if they could come take a look at our heater. The pilot light went out twice in the last week and we could not get it lit. Last week PG&E got it going but it was out again this morning. I was first told that they would need to call me back in the early afternoon but I got a call back within minutes due to a cancellation. I was told that someone would at my house within 60 minutes. The tech showed up within 15 minutes and was out the door within about 30 minutes and less than $200. He replaced one part, lit the pilot light and pesto we were in business. He also checked the carbon monoxide. I am very thankful for their quick and efficient response. Job well done. read more

B A Morrison has provided great service over the years. I first used them while managing property. I put jobs out to bid and was always satisfied with their proposals. I have recommended them to friends and family who have come back to thank me for the referral. I have dealt with Mike D. (an estimator) and the owner, Brian. They are always polite, friendly and down to earth. They have never tried to "inflate" a job to be more than it needs to be. One person commented about playing phone tag. I have not encountered this problem. There may have been other circumstances involved (busy season during extreme temperatures, illnesses within the business etc.) Having had multiple good encounters with them I did not want to see a negative comment remain the lasting impression for "yelpers". read more

I've used BA Morrison before in 2015 for a foundation repair. $7k in work, was done timely and professional, and 8 months later it seems all is well. A couple problems that resulted from the work being done were corrected free of charge in July. The problems began more recent, and though I had wanted to give them time to rectify, I draw the line at disrespect. Mike Morrison just hung up on me, calling my real estate agent a liar and disputing doing a fix that was their responsibility, claiming it wasn't something they caused. The cost of labor to fix the leaky supply valve to the hall bath is likely under $100 and they've received many times that from us in the last month. My agent said they pulled out the vanity to do some bathroom repairs, the supply valve wasn't leaking before, and now it is. Mike wants to believe his worker didn't pull out the vanity, but how about offering a well paying customer the benefit of the doubt? In addition to my agent, another contractor on site witnessed the removal of the vanity and was yelled at by Mike Morrison, even though his flooring work was done on time and despite delays from BA Morrison complicating his job. The industry as a whole is back-logged and though I've enjoyed working with Mike Morrison (who does all the scheduling), scheduling problems and miscommunication have been rife during this transaction. If they're not busy, I might recommend them, but after this fiasco, and being hung up on, I find them hard to recommend at all. It's not my fault that they overscheduled themselves, or that they can't keep their composure when under pressure. We started with an estimate on 6/7/16. Mike said they could start work in 1-2 weeks, and once started it would take 4-5 days. While we did make adjustments to the initial work, most of it was due to poorly written work estimates (and the sum total of work appears less than initial quote). Mike understood what we were seeking to have done in person, but multiple things were left out, poorly written (needing clarification) and he was difficult to reach to do so. When the work was finally started (6/29/16), it took until 7/26/16 to finish. The owner (Brian Morrison), himself, told me by phone that he pushed back my job to continue work on another job that increased their requested work. This was never communicated to me and I turned down opportunities to have work done by others (for less) in the meantime, still expecting (and being promised) that BA Morrison would finish the work faster. PGE did a maintenance check on the furnace and after they left it didn't work. Brian's technician Ivan, checked the circuit breakers and the furnace and found that it had a dirty thermal coupler. He cleaned it tested it and determined that it worked fine. Thank you Ivan. Definitely recommend this firm. read more

Mike Depuis from BA Morrison managed our project to install two additional vents and upgrade/repair our heating/AC system. First, he was on time to give us an estimate charge free. Second, his estimate either matched or was lower than the other bids we received. He was very professional, explained the work to be performed well and gave us a detailed estimate. The work was done by a crew of two younger guys who were supervised by him. They were also very professional and on time. They completed everything in one day. A couple of months later we were not entirely happy with the heat flows as some rooms got too hot and some remained cold. Mike arranged for a service guy to come in on the same day to adjust the flows. There was also one tiny hole remaining in the bathroom floor to be patched up. It wasn't a big deal, but I mentioned it to Mike. He came in the same day to match the color and there was no follow up for a couple of weeks. As I was thinking that I should give him a call, he called me himself and sent out a guy for this 2 minute job. And they have a warranty on the jobs they complete. They were great! Very helpful from the start. Before I even made the appointment, Jim was giving some advice on what may be the possible issue. We had two issues...one was our attic fan and all of a sudden stopped running. He told us to check our thermostat on the side of the attic fan to make sure it was still working and when my husband checked, the thermostat was set at 110 degree and once he lowered it, the fan came on...fixed! Our other issue was our air conditioner was running warm and he had us checked our filters first, but it was still not working properly, so they sent Tobey out. He was great!!! Five stars for him as well. He was very informative and went over everything with me and now our air conditioner is running as well. He even checked/replaced all our filters. When he did not have the size of the filter we needed for one of our unit, he went and picked it up and returned the same day with the correct size. Made it very easy. Highly recommend them!!! Antonio was our service tech, and he was terrific! We needed a new control board for our furnace. It was (of course) a very cold day when our furnace decided to stop functioning. Antonio didn't have the part on his truck, so he called in to order it on a Friday afternoon, telling me our furnace wouldn't be repaired until Monday. We have 2 young children and the weekend low temps were forecast as mid-30's to low 40's. I asked for any other options, so Antonio called a colleague right away. He happened to have the part, so Antonio came back at 6:15pm on a Friday night, after this full day's schedule was completed. We had a working furnace again by 7pm! Just got a new furnace installed by B.A.Morrison. Mike came to the house for the estimate. We had to have the old one removed from the ground floor and a new one put into the attic. Mike was friendly and his estimate for everything, including removing old furnace, asbestos removal, extending gas and electric, and building a new platform for the attic installation was very reasonable AND they arranged 100% financing with no interest for 18 months. I couldn't ask for more. When a small hole was accidentally opened in the closet ceiling in our spare room, they repaired it seamlessly and even repainted the ceiling!
