Don't waste your time and money at other shops. Baptist was able to easily identify my engine overheating issue and fix it in a rapid manner. A "specialty" mechanic in my local neighborhood (Rancho Penasquitos) shop, was not able to diagnose the problem after two chances, which cost me more than $1,000. When I brought the truck into my neighborhood shop for the third time, they said that the engine had blown gaskets. Luckily, I ended up brining my vehicle to BAAA, and instead of going for an engine rebuild, Baptist was using troubleshooting techniques that made him sure that the problem was not with the engine....turned out to be a water pump issue and once that was replaced, he drove my truck for the weekend to make sure the overtemp issue was fixed. Had an unfortunate incident with my car. The Triple A tow guy recommended BAAA. They were very thorough and kept me updated on my car. It needed a few things that were not anticipated but they called me to let me know what the issue was and were very transparent with the price. I was convinced by the tow truck driver to come to this shop because the mechanic has worked on cars like mine and that it would be cheap. Had to have my clutch replaced and the mechanic did so, but I noticed issues with it from the first day I got my car back. I took it back in to have it checked and the shop claimed nothing was wrong with it. I now have my car in another shop getting the clutch replaced again because BAAA did not install the clutch correctly and have to pay for it again. DO NOT GO HERE. The owner Fadi is the same POS that rented me a bucket car on the Turo app that literally fell apart on the freeway in 2019. I ended up paying for a new tire on the vehicle with NO reimbursement. The entire bumper fell off, and one of the tires with zero tread ended up popping and almost causing me to get into an accident. The whole ordeal led me to need to drop the car off sooner than anticipated. It was midnight when I arrived back safely due to wanting to be careful as possible driving the car back from Arizona. When I got to the dealership I parked the car safely and legally close to the business where I could easily get into an Uber (the street the business was on was extremely sketchy to be walking around alone). Literally in the parking lot next door closer to the street. He then verbally abused me accusing me of lying about returning the car, said he was going to sue me, and called me the B word. I first met Fadi when they had their shop in Clairemont Mesa Blvd and Genesee Ave. We had an old Volvo and they helped us from tires to motor, always finding the best and/or cheaper solution. They have never pushed an unnecessary service and they have even educated me on how to sell my car when I needed to. I think their prices are fair too. One memorable experience was that one day when I was pregnant and was waiting for a long time for a replacement part for my Volvo at the shop, and they felt so bad they shared their meal with me. They have rescued me when stranded with battery problems, they have provided transportation when repairs take too long, they have fixed flat tires for free... the list goes on and on and on, I will keep bringing my cars and my business to them. read more

BAAA Auto is the worst shop that I've taken my car to in 30 years of car ownership. They misdiagnosed the issue and took 6 days to do a simple but incomplete job. They also parked my car illegally resulting in me unexpectedly getting a parking violation in the mail weeks later. After asking repeatedly, I got the owner to pay the parking ticket. And they refilled my radiator with water, not radiator fluid. My car was barely running so I called a tow truck to take it to a familiar shop nearby. The tow truck driver suggested that I take it to BAAA Auto instead, also nearby, because it was such a great shop. I now know that he is part of this scam operation. The first thing that I noticed when we arrived at the shop is that it looks like a junk yard. Let that be a warning to you. It is as bad as it looks. I suggested to the guy at the desk, Harold, if I remember correctly, that my car appeared to have a problem with the ignition system. It was running really rough as if it was not firing on all cylinders. Over a period of 6 days he proceeded to replace the spark plugs and the timing belt. I called each day to check on the very slow progress. Each day he promised that it would be done the next day. On the 6th day I finally showed up and had the car, which was still disassembled, towed to another nearby shop for reassembly. At that point, my air conditioning no longer worked and the car was still intermittently running rough. It took another shop a couple of hours to diagnose that the ignition coil was the problem. Within a few hours, and a modest charge of around $300, my car was fixed properly by a professional shop. read more

They found a replacement CC that morning and had it installed by 3pm that afternoon. They also ordered the security plate that bolts to the frame so it didn't happen again. The part came in a few days later so I brought the car back to them and they installed it in 20 minutes. I have an old VW bus that recently broke down. The tow truck driver recommended this shop as most shops won't work on old VW's. I couldn't have been happier with the price and service. Very friendly and knowledgeable techs. I'm surprised by some of the negative reviews but my experience was very positive. It's a large shop with lots of cars being serviced, so at first glance it may look a bit disorganized with tools and parts laying around. But don't let that fool you. They were very busy but took time to greet me and go over the repairs. It's not very close to where I live but we'll worth the drive. I took my car in because it was shaking drastically at higher speeds specifically on the highway so I first took my car to a shop near my house and the mechanic told me I needed to replace the wheel bearings and was charging a ridiculous amount of money, so I decided to get a second opinion and to shop around. I went to two other places and both were trying to charge way to much and one shop even added that I needed my suspension replaced. I almost gave up and just sold the car as is, but I deci to try one more time. luckily I did bcuz that when I found baaa and they were extremely helpful. not only did they give me a great price but come to find out it wasn't my wheel bearings at all my front axil was broken. the mechanic even took the time to show me exactly what the problem was and I was able to physically see how it wobbled when bcuz he raised the car on the lift to show me. he even went the extra mile to assure me it was not the wheel bearing by removing the tire and showed me that they were in perfectly good working order! I got my axil replaced and he did both sides for literally the best price. I even called a few days later just to ask some questions I had about another issue and he told me to stop by and he looked at it for me just to be nice and told me when I'm ready to come on down and he will take care of me. I highly recommend baaa regardless of other people reviews. I know most people when dealing with car issues can already have a bad attitude just from the problems they have so I dismissed any negative reviews bcuz my experience was phenomenal!!! thank you baaa!!! read more

I have a 2013 Prius. While on the freeway at night, several urgent warning lights came on, and the car began to lose power. It died on the off ramp, but I was able to restart and get home. I thought the big electric battery was fried. So, I had planned to just take it to a dealer in the morning. I didn't have all day, as I also had to get to work. When the AAA tow driver, Robert arrived, he suggested going to BAAA instead. I went with his suggestion, and could not have been more pleased. BAAA thoroughly diagnosed my car, and the water pump was blown, and had to be repaired first. Luckily, that was all that was wrong. The engine was not damaged, and the battery was fine. Their prices were fair. I was able to get a very reasonably priced rental while they were working on my car. Everyone at the shop was so kind and courteous! They kept in touch with me all along the way, and kept me informed of what was going on with my car. I'm very grateful I took my car there rather than the dealer. My car wouldn't start and I was going to have Farmer's tow my car but I needed a place to tow it to. I called BAAA and Harold answered. He said they aren't open on Sundays but I sounded like I needed some help so he said they can tow it there. But timing didn't work on their part so Harold suggested an alternative that would help me which was sending his mechanic straight to me to help. The mechanic came within an hour to help me check out what was wrong. Apparently a part needed to be replaced. The mechanic, Mohammed, went to grab a part and came back within 20 minutes to continue helping me. After finishing the repair, he went on a drive with me to make sure everything was working ok and that everything sounded ok. I am very appreciative of how detail oriented he was and how patient he was in helping me even though it was a Sunday afternoon. He spent 4 hours helping me and it only cost me $150. They even helped me out with a complimentary smog check a couple days later after I drove the car around according to his tips.100% recommend to anyone that has any car problems or questions. read more

Beware! My Sienna's stick, gear shifter, was not working properly. It was stuck on Neutral. The tow truck driver worked on it and diagnosed the problem. He was able to manipulate the gears under the hood. He said that the gear shift cable needed to be replaced. Since he was real helpful and knew how to fix it, I followed his recommendation, and had him drop off my car at BAAA Auto Service. He said they were very good and inexpensive. I should have checked Yelp first. The next day, I talked to the lady at the office. She told me that it needed a new cable. I knew that. Told me also that they didn't make an after market part for my car. They would have to special order it from Toyota and it would take 3-4 days to fix. Total cost $750. It didn't make sense, so I told her that I'll pay the diagnosis fee of $120 and will take my car to another shop. I hanged up. About 30 minutes later she calls me back. Tells me that if I can go online and order the part myself (an aftermarket part), that can drop the repair price by $200! She had just finished telling me previously that they didn't make an after market part for my car. I promptly went to the shop and got my car out of there and took it to a more reliable shop. read more
