Located in a charming renovated older home on a beautiful side street in old Covington, this inviting restaurant afforded us exceptional service, and wonderful Thai food. I am remiss to write this. I used to love Sala! But we went tonight for carry out and ordered the Satay and Pad Thai; both chicken. The satay was terrific! Peanut sauce was a little thin but still flavorful. Then comes the Pad Thai. One word describes it...awful! I have eaten Pad Thai all over the world and this has to be the WORSE version of it ever! It was dark brown and had no flavor at all. There was a lime that was already squeezed and left in the container. Chopped peanuts were in a container but there were no onions or bean sprouts. I mean seriously...pad thai 101. I used to love the pad thai at Sala. I am beyond disappointed. Frozen at Wal Mart would have been much better. read more

I've eaten here 3 times for the buffet. Atmosphere is good either inside or on the patio deck. Th food quality is also good, but not equivalent to the Thai Buffets in Baton Rouge. There are two BIG negatives. 1. The buffet is always empty. You open the trays, and there is nothing there. If you go anytime after 1pm, you are jacked, even though the buffet ends at 2:30. 2. The waitress is rude and mean. She is the younger one that is a bit on the large size. I believe she will be the reason I will not return again. read more

This place is really great! The soups and curries were very tasty. Everything was very fresh and the spice level was perfect.

Great place for a family meal or date night. The staff is very friendly and the food is even better.

The curries, stir fries and noodles are ok if you order fresh from the menu. Not my favorite on the Northshore but close to our house. I personally do not recommend the buffet though it seems to be very popular and my husband loves it. read more

Great lunch buffet at a good price. The Pad Thai is tasty as are all the noodle dishes. The dumplings, fried spring rolls and blanket shrimp are delicious. My favorite entrees here are Thai Basil and Mussaman Curry, both of which can be prepared in a mild version for those of us who can't eat to much capsaicin. read more

I have to say that I am a picky eater when it comes to Thai food. I am not too adventurous and usually stick to the basics. My favorite being Pad Thai. I am never a fan of buffet's - however I decided to give this place a try. I live in Dallas and found myself on a project on the Northshore. I was pleasantly surprised. The selection on the buffet was not a mega buffet by any means - just a few entrees and a few other selections.. but wow - the quality of food and taste was outstanding. Waiters were very friendly. My daughter and I love Thai food. We were in Covington and yellped Thai restaurants. This one had the best reviews. The food was great! There was a lunch buffet, but neither one of us cares for buffet food, so we ordered from the menue. The waiter was very very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was cute and decorated very nicely. Avoid!!! This has new owners and is not same place!! All food is sub par now, fishy, soggy, and way below original sala Thai level. Will never eat here again. They shld be made to change name bc it's misleading thinking it was same place tgat actually had awesome food. This food is really bad, please avoid!! They also can't get ur order correct. We enjoyed our meal at Baan Thai. The food was fresh and I like how the vegetables were cooked just right - tender but not mushy. I would have liked more noodles in my dish though. Also there was no background music playing during our visit. The server was friendly and attentive. read more

Definitely called "Sara Thai" as of August 9, 2015. I asked to speak with Sara but got no results. We ordered the buffet and it was cheap and very good. I don't know enough about Thai food to know what I got, but I liked it all. I guess if I eat it again I will try to learn what's what, but most of these Asian places spell things different from place to place. Each entree had a unique and memorable flavor. Memorable in a good way. The peanut dipping sauce was excellent but there were no chunks of meat available to dip in it. I like those odd chunks of meat to dip in peanut dipping sauce. I would have told Sara but she must have had the night off. read more

Tried three times to visit their non existent buffet. They do not honor the hours of their buffet, so if your expecting to have a lunch buffet you may want to go somewhere else. They say the hours are from 11:00 through 2:30. More like, we didn't feel like doing it so we quit at 12:00. Since, I could never make the supposed hours (i visited at 12, 1, and 2 on separate days) I can't comment on the food. But serve is kinda sketchy. I wouldn't suggest it? read more

Change of ownership or something???? Their service has gone down and quality of food. Ordered BEEF pad thai to go and got home it was chicken. Called and spoke to 3 people including owner and she said our fault cause they always check order. Its MY FAULT IT SAYS BEEF ON TICKET AND THEY MADE CHICKEN??? No offer to remake, no apologies. I absolutely loved this lil gem! The food was prepared fresh healthy and yummy. The owner talked to my boyfriend and I and told us why she chooses certain spices and vegetables for healing and health reasons brought here from her home in Thailand. Wonderful choices on the buffet which I never eat but I could tell this place does a wonderful job when I looked at the fresh dishes before I decided. A GREAT NEW FIND!!! If you like Thai, this is the place to go. The restaurant is an old house and I dined in the "living room". Complementary appetizers and an incredible amount of food. So glad I finally stopped in. I have been looking for a great Thai restaurant for a while and now have found one. The Thai Spaghetti (a.k.a. Delicious! Everything was made to order and very fresh and hot. They are very accomidating and willing to delete items from dishes if needed. We had the wonton soup which had a slight curry to the broth and was very tasty. We also tried the soft spring rolls with chicken which was a smaller portion but very good. Our main dishes included the glass noodles with veggies and meat. The veggies were cooked just right. We enjoyed our meal and will be back again. read more
