This is much deserving of the five star and if I could I would give it a 10 star. This place had some of the most delicious food I have ever tasted with an explosion of flavor with every bite. The waiters and waitresses are very kind and very supportive while you are eating and do a great job checking up periodically to make sure things are going well. And the soft music the dimmed lights the lit candle all provide a romantic and soothing aroma while you eat. I highly recommend visiting this place for you will not be disappointed.

this place had great albeit dark ambiance and attention to detail. the drink menu was so creatively done. for me, i prefer cheaper and more authentic indian spots. they always have more flavor than these upscale places. the meat was so tender but the sauces were all a bit similar. we were told one was coconut and spicy but it tasted no different from the others. just a piece of meat surrounded by sauce with few other ingredients. and you need to buy rice. it felt uninspiring to me and one-note. i wod prefer a lot more textures, flavors, and ingredients, especially for the price. $200 for three people without any drinks. just felt underwhelming for me. my boyfriend, on the other hand, said he was excited the entire meal. he loved the lamb.

Baar Baar is easily one of my favorite Indian restaurants in LA--I just wish Downtown were closer to the Valley (where I live) so I could come more often! Came here for Dine LA week. The cocktails are fantastic and creatively presented, and the food is packed with flavor. The beetroot chop canapé was so good I could've eaten a dozen. I especially loved the duck taco, lamb chapli kebab, and Beef Madras Shukka, which was probably my favorite dish and paired perfectly with the garlic naan. We also tried the butter chicken and sea bass--both good, though I personally preferred the bolder flavors of the beef. All three desserts were great, with the gulab jamun cheesecake winning for me. Friendly service, great ambiance without being too loud, and an all-around excellent meal. Definitely worth the trek to DTLA.

ok I have to apologize. Went to baar baar in NY twice & I loved the drinks but was disappointed in the "chat" we had. So even though they've opened in LA for few years this was our first time & OMG. This is the best food we don't have upscale Indian food so definitely a must try! Their tasting menu is everything ! Wasn't disappointed in vegan & veg dishes The vegan kofta, paneer dish & gulab jamun cheesecake was to die for!

Great Indian food, amazing ambiance! We tried their set/tasting menu 5 courses ($55pp) it was sooo good! We were started off with dahi puri. Each course had plenty of vegetarian options. Our favorite from course 2 was the Kerala duck birria taco. There were 4 of us so each one of us chose a different main course and all the dishes were absolutely delicious! Their portions are large and for sides we could choose between naan, rice and dal makhni. We all got different sides and they were perfectly shareable. For dessert we tried gulab jamun cheesecake and rasmalai cassata and loved them both. Service was very efficient and friendly.

We had our wedding reception at Baar Baar. We wanted an intimate event with about 30 of our closest family and friends. The priority for us was good food and beautiful ambiance, and we got so much more. The planning process was very smooth, Jyoti was very helpful in helping us create a menu with plenty of food and to organize when everything would come out. She also hooked us up with her flower vendor who was incredibly talented, flexible and reasonably priced. The private event space is gorgeous. It didn't really need much, we only added flowers. The food is phenomenal, literally no notes, EVERYTHING was excellent. They offer creative takes on classic dishes. They kept the food and drinks rolling. Sandeep was a very attentive server and made us feel taken care of. Great place for a meal or an event, pricing was very reasonable.

They re-opened their brunch dining which yay I loved going there before, bud boo they got rid of my favorite lamb burger. The new brunch menu has some great new additions with the uttapam and they kept their selection of egg dishes. But I'm so heartbroken at the loss of the lamb burger I loved getting here. The owners went around and spoke to patrons and I was too shy to tell him that I missed off the menu. Maybe another time lol. The brunch duck tacos didn't skimp on meat or flavor, but I'd probably come back for the uttapam. Same bold flavors, but since we were told the brunch mains aren't meant to be shared, I'd think the tacos would come with 3 instead of 2. So I know not to come here TOO hungry because the portions are a little light. I still love baar baar, but my heart is a little broken.

Went back after more than a year. Same great ambiance, outstanding food and drinks. Valet parking is available. You can't go wrong with the food, but my favorite is the Butter Chicken. The cocktails have playful names based on old Bollywood hits. Service is excellent. A great place for a date night or a special occasion.

The ambiance is very modern and elegant. We were immediately greeted by the owner and were taken to our booth. It was my birthday, so we received some special treats from the staff (champagne and dessert). Their cocktail menu is beautiful, I wish they had more on the menu because the concept of curating cocktails after classic Bollywood movies made my heart melt. I ordered the Slumdog millionaire cocktail. All the drinks were deliciously strong, packed with flavor and a heavy hand, which was awesome. We started with some appetizers and all shared the chicken biriyani, butter chicken, and garlic naan. Food quality was excellent. everything was well thought out and delicately put together. Thank you Baar Baar for making my day feel special!

I'm not a big fan of Indian food, but last night My Mom said she was craving Indian curry, so we went out for dinner. The restaurant is right near our home, so we walked there. The food was absolutely amazing. The atmosphere was lovely, every dish was delicious, and everyone was very kind and friendly. I ordered the Paneer Pinwheel, my mom had the Shrimp Malvani Curry, and my brothers ordered Butter Chicken and a Selection of Indian Curries. All four of us also ordered Saffron Rice. Everything tasted wonderful, and the service and ambiance made the experience even better. We really enjoyed the nice ambience, tasty food and attentive & friendly service.

Ambience is great no doubt and so are rhe drinks! The slumdog millionaire is a fan favorite for sure. The food however was not that impressive, maybe because I'm Indian? The presentation was lovely as is rhe decor of the restaurant but the creativity didn't always translate into flavor. The cauliflower 65 was our favorite from the night. Good flavors and nice texture to the gobi. The avocado bhel was a stretch. It tasted more like guacamole with a few crispy wonton on top to make it a "bhel". The sweet potato chaat was interesting with pakora on top adding to the crunch, mostly tasted of chutney though. The paneer pinwheels were disappointing. The sauce was basically tikka masala with 3 little rolls of paneer floating in it - not the best ratio. Service was very good, food came out quickly and they were very attentive.

They well deserved the 5 stars + for the food, service and the atmosphere. The food was very high quality and really pleasantly delicious. This place Indian food will take you to another level of the dining experience. You must try to go there to understand what I mean. I can't remember the server's name but he is from Slovenia something. He was really friendly, kind with very professional matters. This restaurant interior were absolutely beautiful and amazing. My mom who doesn't really care to eat Indian food that much, even my mom loved their food every bite of it. It was a eyes wide open experience of the dining from this place. We will definitely be back again.

It's DineLA! Came here on a friday evening around 7pm. We were seated instantly for our reservation. Our waitress was amazing. The DineLA menu is great. The canapé,, beetroot chop was amazing! 10/10. For my small plate, I chose the kerala duck (birria) taco. I truly enjoyed it 8/10. For my large plate, I chose the traditional butter chicken (7/10) with garlic naan. I really love garlic naan but I will say, I wish the garlic naan was thicker. Lastly, for dessert I had the pecan brownie. It was tasty but I wished the brownie was warm. Street parking was free after 7pm but there is a parking garage next to the restaurant

Ask the Community - Baar Baar

Does the restaurant use halal meat?

I don't know but they will answer the phone. It's a lovely place with great food. You could build a great meal with just vegetables.

    What are the vegan options?

I believe these are the options: Beetroot Murabba…

Are there any vegetarian no onion, no garlic, no egg options?

You probably should call the restaurant and ask as your limitations seem to be fairly restrictive.

    Do you have Halal meat?

When we went, the chicken and Lamb was halal!

    Is this restaurant gluten-free friendly?

Im presuming this is directed towards the Naan - traditionally it is made with wheat flour and most restaurants do it that way. I honestly cannot recall there being a gluten free option but I could be wrong and it may be best to call. Sorry for not…

This place is sus and I really did not like the service…read more We came here for a quick dinner at 7 pm (there was no one else inside). We ordered Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Korma and Butter Cheese Naan. They came out with Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Korma (did not notice this right away as it's all covered in sauce). I told the waitress that we were just waiting on the naan and she said that it's coming. She then proceeded to ask what kind of naan we want (so they weren't working on it). Once we started eating, we quickly realized that none of the dishes were lamb. We told our waitress and she was like oh no I'll bring you a lamb one. She didn't take the chicken one away or mention anything about paying for it. The food was pretty good overall so maybe a lot of good reviews are from delivery. When we were done, we asked for to go containers. They were gross and had white flecks/oily stuff all over them (just thinking about people that did delivery and had their food packed in those containers already...gross). They brought us different containers that were fine. The chef then came out and said he charged for the Chicken Korma (that we did not order) but didn't charge tax on it. Excuse me? First of all, if you even wanted to try to charge for that, you should've said something upfront. Second of all, you should never try to charge a customer for a mistake made by the kitchen. Will not return.

The food here is phenomenal!! The portion sizes are perfect and the customer service is a 12/10…read more Our server seemed very happy to have us and checked up on us to make sure we weren't missing anything. It's a little warm in the building but nothing too extreme. It's a cozy space to dine in, but I noticed many people ordered for takeout. I definitely recommend!
