We went here for Brunch and got the Pani Puri, Pav Bhaji with Masala Fries and Vada Pav. The vada pav was the best part of the meal. The Pav Bhaji was good enough but the portion of the pav was ridiculously small considering this was labeled was a large plate. The masala fries had literally no flavor which was odd. The Pani Puri was the worst out of the 3 meals, being just sweet although it had chili on the ingredient list. First things first. For an Indian restaurant- really beautiful and elegant inside. Staff and service is top notch. We tried many dishes. Very unique and creative spins on Indian dishes, along with a few standards. Everything was plated immaculately. The highlights of the night were definitely the apps and the desserts (not pictured). Most of the dishes were good, but lacked salt, acidity and spice - so they fell flat. It tasted like toned down Indian food geared towards a non Indian audience. My fave dish of the night - the avocado bhel. And the dish I just couldn't stand - the mushroom fry. Portion to price wasn't there either. We came here for dinner after a conference at the LA Convention Center, as a party of three. The reservation was made pretty last minute, but since it was a weekday, we had no problem getting a table. We decided to go with the prix fixe menu. Note that everyone at the table has to choose either the prix fixe or the à la carte menu--you can't mix and match, which I initially found a bit inconvenient since I wasn't very hungry and had planned on just a couple of small appetizers. However, in the end, I was glad we opted for the prix fixe menu. We shared a variety of vegetarian and meat dishes, and the portions were perfect for sharing. The menu offers a lot of vegan and vegetarian options, so guests with dietary restrictions will definitely find plenty of choices. The presentation, textures, and flavors were outstanding across the board. The highlight of the evening was the Gulab Jamun Cheesecake with mascarpone, caramel sauce, and saffron pistachio ice cream--it was absolutely out of this world! I'd come back for that dessert alone. Ambience: Baar Baar is a classy indian restaurant without the usual dark interior and smell of Indian food in your hair once you leave (you all know what I mean ) The interior is beautifully decorated. Though I did think the main restaurant was very loud. We were seated in the second inner part of the restaurant which was less loud. Im thinking it was because there were less tables there. Parking: valet for $15 plus tip or just down the same street less than 50 feet away $10 for the parking lot. Service: very attentive and friendly from bar staff, front hostess stand and table service. The manager came to tell us that that they overcooked the fish we ordered and they were making another one thus the delay. I really appreciate that rather than us wondering what's taking so long. Cocktails: the cocktails here are phenomenal. The ingredients are not what you usually find in most cocktails. The menu is super cute with names of popular Hindi movies. Though I have to say it's not very strong. I'm a lightweight and Usually after 3 cocktails I'm done for and I wasn't after these. I loved the Hare pere. little spice to it. Particular highlights were the Homemade Crisp starter with the chutney set which were addictive and the perfect starter to our meal and the Paneer Pinwheels-just so delicious! I also need to rave about Rafael who gave us such personal attention and made sure that our drinks complemented our meal choices perfectly. We tried several of them, but were really impressed by the "Slumdog Millionaire". For food, we had the Dahi Puri, Cauliflower 65, Pork Belly, Lamb Keema Hyderabadi, Wild Shrimp Ghee Roast, Baar Baar Butter Chicken, and Beef Short Ribs. Everything was great, but our standouts were the Lamb Keema and the Butter Chicken. They were absolutely packed with flavor and incredible. We hosted a surprise party for my dad's 80th birthday at Baar Baar this past weekend. The event planner was fantastic. She communicated with me often and ensured all details were executed nicely. This place was much better than expected! We got the dahi puri, butter chicken, cauliflower, and wild shrimp ghee roast for 3 people. It was just enough food. The dahi puri was my favorite but I'm generally a sucker for pani puri. For drinks we got the Mera Naam Joker and the Slumdog Millionaire. The Mera Naam Joker is made with a ghee washed bourbon which I asked our server about because I was so intrigued. They combine ghee and bourbon and let that sit until the ghee separates and they strain it from the bourbon. It tasted like a buttery bourbon (you can actually taste the ghee but it's really smooth) with saffron - really unique and amazing flavor. I'm not usually a cocktail person but this is definitely one I'd go back for! For dessert we had the brownie which was pretty solid but if I had a do-over, I'd choose something with more of an Indian influence. The ambience was really cozy and the restaurant is very beautifully decorated. I would be remiss not to mention that the service was IMPECCABLE. We had several waiters, servers, and the manager check in on us to make sure we were enjoying our experience. The cocktails are a homage to Bollywood movies which was a fun unique twist. We ordered the Sholay, DDLJ, Munnabhai MBBS, and RRR and they were all fantastic. I was a little skeptical at first as high end Indian cuisine isn't always done well and you end up feeling paying too much for Indian Food designed for western palette. I was so excited to come to Baar Baar after reading all the glowing reviews but ultimately it was a really huge letdown (I'm so bumming as I write this!). At the end of the day it was all form and little substance for the vast majority of the dishes we tried, and we tried many. The restaurant itself is beautiful and everyone who works there that we came in contact with (doorman, hostess, server) were friendly and welcoming. We drove up from Orange County and were starving when we arrived. I had made a reservation and specifically confirmed that the table wasn't in the bar area. But the hostess tried to seat us at one of the high tops in the bar area. We asked to be seated elsewhere and were moved but that was definitely not a great start to the night. And ultimately we sat at a table on the other side of the bar and not really the main part. Of well. Because we were so hungry we definitely over ordered. We started with the kulcha, which was delicious but definitely needed a sauce. The hostess mentioned the pomegranate raita and we asked our server if we could order one. By the time it finally came out, we were basically done with the bread. And it was nothing special. Literally just yogurt with a few pomegranate kernels on top. We tried the dahi puri next and neither of us cared for it. The sweet potato chaat was very good. One of the top dishes of the night. I liked the beetroot dish but my husband correctly pointed out that the beets it came with were undercooked and hard. The cauliflower was crispy but also missing something (maybe so acid?) The avocado bhel had no discernible avocado to be be found and was just a huge miss. The halibut was incredible. Fresh and flavorful. The butter chicken was a huge miss. My husband said the chicken was dry and the sauce lacked flavor. The mango dessert was spectacular. Our bill was around $275, with no alcohol (we had a bottle of sparkling water). The prices of some of the dishes for the amount/taste is preposterous. Still makes me mad. You can eat at a Michelin star restaurant at that price point (something I doubt this place will ever get). Or feast at Pijja Palace on their unique pizzas. I wanted to give Baar Baar 3 stars but the incredible dessert took it over the edge. The music can get pretty loud so if you want something quieter, I'd recommend requesting a table towards the back of the room. The variety during brunch was a lot better than the variety (and flavors) during dinner. Also, the cocktails at brunch seemed to taste better than those at dinner! Meal was excellent. Service was good (server, host and bartenders). The first time I went they basically told us we had to wait (despite being on time for our reservation). They had overbooked and could not guarantee when they could seat us. Excuse me? This has literally never happened to me when we have a reservation. The manager was so nice and said the owners get greedy and overbook. Not OK. Again the food and the staff is very nice but this left a very bad initial taste. They comped up drinks which some what made up for it but regardless, we waited almost 30 mins past our reservation and had to keep harassing them to seat us. Very odd. read more

On diwali and my birthday celebration, my kids reserved this place with a specific menu for the day. Ambience was ok but music was way too loud to converse. Service was friendly. Taste wise, they could have done better job. Presentation wasn't very exciting either. On top of that, menu had daal, naan, rice included with every order/ per customer. Server brought only 2 bowls of daal for 4 people. They charged per person but said it's too much food so they will ask "someone " to bring other 2 bowls. Server again said that if we want daal for each person, he can bring later if we need. Menu also included Pistachio icecream in dessert. When we asked, server again said, she will ask. Then brought only one bowl of ice cream saying it is for my birthday. It was included in menu and we paid for 4 people. Baar Baar didn't give us each promised item on the menu so food is not wasted. Helloo...we paid so we could have packed and take it home. Also, their other dessert Rabdi wasn't made perfectly with cooking milk for hours. To save time, they added like bread or semolina to thicken it. It tasted awful. Furthermore, they included 20% tips twice..making it 40% on the bill. Our bill came about $300 for average food and very loud music. They tried to make prices very classy but quality /quantity both were disappointing. Do not recommend this restaurant. read more

This used to be the Faith and Flower space that had remained vacant during the pandemic - now with a new restaurant. The space has always been beautiful and it's a nice space that's relaxed yet classy. It's easy to chat with your dining companion without a need to yell. The food is middle-upper price range for Indian fare, but you can tell the quality is good. I enjoyed my butter chicken dish with basmati rice and garlic naan. Also lots of vegetarian options that are great. read more
