ok I have to apologize. Went to baar baar in NY twice & I loved the drinks but was disappointed in the "chat" we had. So even though they've opened in LA for few years this was our first time & OMG. This is the best food we don't have upscale Indian food so definitely a must try! Their tasting menu is everything ! Wasn't disappointed in vegan & veg dishes The vegan kofta, paneer dish & gulab jamun cheesecake was to die for!

Went back after more than a year. Same great ambiance, outstanding food and drinks. Valet parking is available. You can't go wrong with the food, but my favorite is the Butter Chicken. The cocktails have playful names based on old Bollywood hits. Service is excellent. A great place for a date night or a special occasion.

Came here with my family to celebrate Mother's Day. We were excited to get reservations and it was a prefix menu. We had a great experience overall. A few things I would probably change, but overall it was wonderful. The family who owns the business also was cordial and kind and took time to talk to us. The vibe is incredible. Love the colors and it doesn't feel like a cheesy Indian restaurant. I loved all the appetizers. The main courses were OK in my opinion and the desserts were fine as well. The drink selections were great. I really look forward to coming back again, but to be able to order off of an alacarte menu

The ambiance is very modern and elegant. We were immediately greeted by the owner and were taken to our booth. It was my birthday, so we received some special treats from the staff (champagne and dessert). Their cocktail menu is beautiful, I wish they had more on the menu because the concept of curating cocktails after classic Bollywood movies made my heart melt. I ordered the Slumdog millionaire cocktail. All the drinks were deliciously strong, packed with flavor and a heavy hand, which was awesome. We started with some appetizers and all shared the chicken biriyani, butter chicken, and garlic naan. Food quality was excellent. everything was well thought out and delicately put together. Thank you Baar Baar for making my day feel special!

We visited after work on a Tuesday for happy hour. I loved the ambience, right down to the storybook drink menu! A beautiful restaurant! We ordered the chutney set with garlic naan and the butter chicken. The chutney set and garlic naan was delicious, but the butter chicken lacked flavor, big time. It was quite disappointing since we started off on such a good note. I think I would go back and maybe give something else a try. Maybe it was an off night.

Ambience is great no doubt and so are rhe drinks! The slumdog millionaire is a fan favorite for sure. The food however was not that impressive, maybe because I'm Indian? The presentation was lovely as is rhe decor of the restaurant but the creativity didn't always translate into flavor. The cauliflower 65 was our favorite from the night. Good flavors and nice texture to the gobi. The avocado bhel was a stretch. It tasted more like guacamole with a few crispy wonton on top to make it a "bhel". The sweet potato chaat was interesting with pakora on top adding to the crunch, mostly tasted of chutney though. The paneer pinwheels were disappointing. The sauce was basically tikka masala with 3 little rolls of paneer floating in it - not the best ratio. Service was very good, food came out quickly and they were very attentive.

They well deserved the 5 stars + for the food, service and the atmosphere. The food was very high quality and really pleasantly delicious. This place Indian food will take you to another level of the dining experience. You must try to go there to understand what I mean. I can't remember the server's name but he is from Slovenia something. He was really friendly, kind with very professional matters. This restaurant interior were absolutely beautiful and amazing. My mom who doesn't really care to eat Indian food that much, even my mom loved their food every bite of it. It was a eyes wide open experience of the dining from this place. We will definitely be back again.

I'm not a big fan of Indian food, but last night My Mom said she was craving Indian curry, so we went out for dinner. The restaurant is right near our home, so we walked there. The food was absolutely amazing. The atmosphere was lovely, every dish was delicious, and everyone was very kind and friendly. I ordered the Paneer Pinwheel, my mom had the Shrimp Malvani Curry, and my brothers ordered Butter Chicken and a Selection of Indian Curries. All four of us also ordered Saffron Rice. Everything tasted wonderful, and the service and ambiance made the experience even better. We really enjoyed the nice ambience, tasty food and attentive & friendly service.

It's DineLA! Came here on a friday evening around 7pm. We were seated instantly for our reservation. Our waitress was amazing. The DineLA menu is great. The canapé,, beetroot chop was amazing! 10/10. For my small plate, I chose the kerala duck (birria) taco. I truly enjoyed it 8/10. For my large plate, I chose the traditional butter chicken (7/10) with garlic naan. I really love garlic naan but I will say, I wish the garlic naan was thicker. Lastly, for dessert I had the pecan brownie. It was tasty but I wished the brownie was warm. Street parking was free after 7pm but there is a parking garage next to the restaurant

I came here for my birthday dinner with my Yelp BFF, Karren, and we had such a memorable experience. They offer valet parking, but we parked in the paid lot nearby which was quick and convenient. The restaurant itself is absolutely stunning, the bar area is gorgeous, the mural on the wall is beautiful, and they have a unique, creative drink menu that really stands out. We ordered several dishes, and the daal and chicken were definitely my top favorites. The paneer kulcha, however, didn't have much flavor for me and wasn't my favorite of the night. The gulab jamun cheesecake was unbelievably delicious... I just wish I had more room in my tummy to eat more of it! One of the highlights of the night was unexpectedly running into a few celebs who were also dining there it added such a fun surprise and totally topped my birthday. We also had the pleasure of meeting the owners and their daughter, who personally came to our table. They were incredibly kind, welcoming, and genuinely cared about our experience. Overall, the food is high quality, crafted by top-tier chefs, the drinks are unique, and the service and atmosphere are exceptional. I would most definitely come back. Highly recommend!

My friends and I loved our experience at Baar Baar. Unfortunately it was raining like crazy on the day we had reservations for but that didn't stop us. We arrived to a rather empty restaurant (probably due to the rain). Staff took care of us right away seating us and explaining the menu. We had heard that they're known for their cocktails so we each ordered a different one. All of them were really good and I can see why people say their cocktails are good. The bar is also really impressive if you just wanted to come for a drink. All the cocktails are named after famous Indian movies which was really cute. For the food, we opted into the prix fixe menu (all parties at your table must participate) but it was perfect because the menu had a lot of their most popular items that we would've wanted to order and try anyways. We did end up ordering 2 extra items - the lamp chops as well as the jalapeno cheese naan. It ended up being more than enough food but everything was so good and we were so happy to try it all. The puri puri amuse bouche was SO GOOD! The avocado bhel appetizer dish was also surprisingly good. The traditional butter chicken with the saffron rice was classic but delicious and I loved the seabass fish as well as the jalapeno cheese stuffed naan. I normally don't care for beans but I can see why the Black Dairy Dal is $15!! It was so flavorful and a must get. Both the dessert options (Gulab jamun cheesecake and Strawberry Cassata) were yummy too. Not too sweet for both.

The service between the bartender/mixologist and our server was just top notch. Paired with the ambience and decor, it truly created a setting for an enjoyable dinner. I usually love wine with dinner but these days, especially the restaurants on downtown LA, have upped their cocktail game. With complex and refreshing flavors and an Indian kick, the cocktails were amazing. We did enjoy the food. The lambchop was decent and the short ribs and sea bass and butter chicken were delicious. I would skip the duck tacos. Not bad but not memorable and with the birria sauce, didn't really help with duck flavoring. I know they try to bring California twist to the menu but I would have done cheese birria taco with mashed peas or potato even. Shredding duck meat is just a waste. We also skipped a lot of vegetable and shared plates and went straight for large plates meat/seafood dishes with sides family style. Skip the dessert. Intriguing and creative idea but disappointing and underwelhming in execution. We definitely all had slight food coma at the end of the night, which is consistent with good Indian food.

Had no idea this place was here, but very delighted to have found it! Parking is meh, but the food was delicious and the service was great! i don't remember the server's name, but she was a beautiful black woman who served us at the bar! Super friendly and helpful with recommendations! The ambiance is relaxing, with art throughout the interior. Our server recommended a beverage that blew my mind. Simple, yet delicious! I cannot find it anywhere on their online menu, but I'm attaching a photo. It was like some sort of yogurt-y, thick priobiotic kind of mango-ish drink. I can't describe it! Will definitely be returning for it! The kerala fried chicken was my absolute fav dish! Packed with so much flavor! I never really order chicken when I eat out, but this was a knockout! I also enjoyed the other chicken dish I got, but not as much as the fried chicken. The naan was also pretty good! Texture was on point!

    Is this restaurant gluten-free friendly?

I regret purchasing anything from here. I never made any disrespectful remarks nor was I being rude at any point. This should not be tolerated. I eat food in the area, this is disrespect to my mine and money. I wanted to like this place but morally speaking it's not worth coming if this is how they treat strangers. I hope people are aware that this kind of activity is going in this business. Love supporting local businesses but my time and money have value and it would not be spent here. She claimed to be the manager. food wise: very important details to consider- just because it's vegan/ doesn't mean it healthy. I had the vegetable potato Samosa - it's deep fried with canola oil (extremely processed oil) consuming oils like these make vegan/vegetarian options unhealthy. It's almost like eating a McDonald chicken nugget. Not saying this in a negative tone, just sharing honest thoughts. The potato was bland, typically with food like this, spices sometimes make up for the dish but unfortunately it didn't. Just a potato deep fried with bread. Lentil soup- had a broth feel to it, it also lacked taste and flavor. It wasn't horrible, it just wasn't great either. This is important because when it's a lentil soup something has to stand out about it, it's a healthier option so the taste makes up for the dish being a healthy. Upon asking, they also add canola oil to this soup. ((Not as much as the other foods on the menu, but still heavy and that gets people bloated) they should consider making foods with coconut oil. The place did seem to be clean. But people make the build what it is)

My friend got Indian food a few weeks ago so I felt inspired to get some too (or Pakistani food,…read morenot sure). Regardless, I've been here a few times and have always enjoyed it. I love how big the naan is that they give you. They make it fresh too. Even though I've tried a bunch of their skewers, this time I tried the fish karahi, which came with my choice of naan or rice. I chose naan. It was really good but it was a little too spicy for me. The cashier told me they could add yogurt the next time around. However, what really stood out is how the fish was cooked. I feel in American restaurants, fish is just cooked in a way that makes it just taste ok. However, at like Chinese restaurants, they really know how to make the fish taste amazing and have it be so plump and juicy. They make their fish like that here! The juicy and plump way where you're just like, "Wow I just want to keep eating this!" I also got a chicken roll too which is fried and crispy. Good appetizer. They also have water for free here too but I didn't see the dispenser so I just brought something from my car in. The ambiance is cozy here. Nice seating area. We ordered Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Korma and Butter Cheese Naan. They came out with Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Korma (did not notice this right away as it's all covered in sauce). I told the waitress that we were just waiting on the naan and she said that it's coming. She then proceeded to ask what kind of naan we want (so they weren't working on it). Once we started eating, we quickly realized that none of the dishes were lamb. We told our waitress and she was like oh no I'll bring you a lamb one. She didn't take the chicken one away or mention anything about paying for it. The food was pretty good overall so maybe a lot of good reviews are from delivery. When we were done, we asked for to go containers. They were gross and had white flecks/oily stuff all over them (just thinking about people that did delivery and had their food packed in those containers already...gross). They brought us different containers that were fine. The chef then came out and said he charged for the Chicken Korma (that we did not order) but didn't charge tax on it. Excuse me? First of all, if you even wanted to try to charge for that, you should've said something upfront. Second of all, you should never try to charge a customer for a mistake made by the kitchen.
