Mixed Bolani regular (chives and potato)
    Grace L.

I've been to this location several times, and they are consistently good. This time, I got the mixed Bolani regular (chives and potato Bolani). If I had to choose one, I prefer the potato Bolani. The portion size for the Bolani is massive so you will be eating it over the course of several meals! I've tried a bunch of their kabobs, and this time I got the chicken kabob with an extra skewer. The chicken is pretty juicy. My favorite one is actually the beef kabob, so I would recommend that one if you were only trying one type of kabob!

    Small but tasty!

Stopped in earlier this week. Had the combo plate with Chicken and beef. The food here is the best around. Place is small but the food is so good it's hard to believe. If you haven't been I highly suggest you go. Service is good and selection is amazing.

Delicious dinner tonight at Baba Kabob. The small spot was full of Afghani families, and we were fortunate to nab the last booth. For me, the rices were standout here - both the plain and the extra side of cranberry/carrot kabuli rice that I ordered because the menu pic looked so scrumptious (and it was!) As for the meats - never tried Chaplin before, and enjoyed the bold spices. The lamb kebab was puzzling, as it didn't smell or taste like any lamb we'd tried before. The spicy chicken shawarma was so juicy, and definitely packed a punch, which was tempered by the soft and pillowy pita bread. Friendly service, and warm, family-oriented environment.

Just go here.... Take my word for it... BEST FOOD IN SAN DIEGO. Hands down. Best ever. The staff is amazing and everything else too.

This place can get busy at lunch time. I came to place my lunch order to go just before they got busy. It took awhile to get your food because they make everything fresh. The potato bolani was good and was a huge portion. It was probably better to have this at the restaurant than as a to go order since it was a bit soft and soggy half an hour later when we were eating it. We also ordered the chicken shawarma salad. We did enjoy it but it was nothing special. Will probably try their kabob plates next time. The chicken was good and not dry. Also a big portion and good for sharing.

I ordered the chicken and beef combo which came with rice and salad. I liked the rice and salad but not a fan of the meats. I should have opted for the gyro which looked tasty. I tried the chicken shawarma, it was seasoned well. I liked the hummus and pita. The pita was very soft and warm. The baklava was a great dessert, it had a perfect amount of nuttiness. Parking was plenty since it was in a shopping center.

My godson and I tried Baba Kabob yesterday while we were taking a break from playing Magic at At Ease Games near Harbor Freight. Baba Kabob is no-frills, but friendly, down-to-earth, and pretty tasty. I ordered a chicken shawarma sandwich and my godson ordered the Baba kabob, which is essentially the same but with gyro meat included. Both sandwiches also came with shredded lettuce, tomatoes, and tzatziki. My favorite thing about these sandwiches was how non-greasy they were. Sometimes halal street food can get greasy or overly oily, but these sandwiches weren't like that. Also, the meat tasted pretty high quality. The large bottle of sriracha at the table was a nice plus, too. Overall, pretty tasty, fresh halal street food. Prices are slightly steep, but the quality, atmosphere, and customer service offset that enough.

It's been a while since I've written a review and I've gotta say this place knocked my socks off! It was outstanding in every way. The service was amazing...everyone was super kind and helpful. They even helped us get my mom situated with her walker without asking--it was like second nature to them. The prices are incredibly reasonable especially considering the high quality of the food and the very generous portions. The lamb shank literally fell off the bone and melted in my mouth. It was seasoned to perfection. The rice was so flavorful and even the salad dressing complimented the meal and the veggies were fresh. The bolani was delicious and warm and comforting....I look forward to returning and trying the potato version. My friend had the Gyro which was a flavor explosion and my mom had the chicken kabob. I was most impressed with how tender and juicy the chunks of white meat chicken were--how did they do that? Clearly they cook with love and it shows. I don't have any interior pics but it was a small bright space with maybe 5 or 6 tables. I'm already planning my next visit--hope to see you there!

Heard a lot of hype about this place from my friends and it lived up to expectations. We ordered the chicken kabob, beef kabob, and potatoe Bolani. The rice portions are gigantic here! Highlights for me were the chicken and bolani. I have no idea how they got the white meat to be so moist and tender! The bolani was absolute fire - so addicting. We enjoyed it with the included white sauce. Service is so friendly, felt like we were dining at a family run establishment. The workers checked in with us several times to ask if the food was ok. This is rare for a fast food shop and much appreciated. I will certainly be back!

Can't believe we waited so long to eat here and I cannot wait to come back. The potato bolani was plenty to share and also great leftover. Both sandwiches were delicious and will definitely be trying more options next time.

I placed a pickup order and was pleasantly surprised by how easy parking was, there were plenty of spots available. I ordered the fries and a falafel sandwich. The fries were generous in portion and really tasty. The falafel sandwich was flavorful, though it could have used a bit more sauce. Overall, it was a solid experience, and I'd rate it around a 3.5.

Hearty servings. Takes about 12-15 minutes for the kabob to come off the grill. 3 skewers was to much for me to finish so I got to take home some for lunch the following day. Great seasoning on all three of the grilled meats.

A Wonderful Evening at Tahini Restaurant…read more We had such a wonderful evening at Tahini Restaurant! The service was excellent, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the food was delicious. They had unfortunately run out of baklava, but Raz came through like a superhero! Just 15 minutes before closing, he managed to bring two of us baklava--and what a way to finish the meal! That kind of service and attention to your guests really makes a difference. And don't forget to get the pickles! They're listed on the menu as pickled cucumbers, although to me, they taste just like delicious kosher dill pickles. I'm not sure why they're called something different, but that tangy flavor adds such an amazing touch to the meal. Thank you, Tahini, for a great meal, great atmosphere, and a great evening with my cousin. And Raz, you're definitely our baklava superhero! ‍ Five stars all around!

We came here for a late lunch, so we were lucky that there was a parking spot opened up right in the plaza. I can not imagine how difficult parking would be during the busy time! I assume you will need to find street parking. Although the plaza is small, the restaurant is big! It has many tables inside, including larger areas for groups. We went in and saw a family having dinner together. That really gave the restaurant a warm family vibe. You can see in the decorations that they have earned many recognitions and had even been on Guy's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives show! What an amazing place! We started the lunch with a nice mint lemonade! OMG! I highly recommend this! I would go back just for this, so refreshing and perfect way to be primed for a great meal. We had three items, Soujouk Flat Bread, Baba Ghannouj, and Ouzi Lamb. The portion is large! We could not finish and had to take to-go for two of us. I love their baba ghannouj! Very authentic and come with the bread. The serve was smiling when I asked whether it came with the bread. He eventually also told us that we should open the bread like a pita and put baba ghannouj in there. I appreciate the guidance on how to enjoy the food. I also loved soujouk flat bread. So delicious! The highly recommended ouzi lamb lived up to the expectation and it's very delicious. Overall, I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. I love the floral and pistachio taste, and it doesn't leave you feeling heavy afterwards. The mint lemonade is also a must have- tastes like it came from the garden in the best way possible. For savories, I had the spinach and cheese bajeen, baba gannouj, and the lamb fatteh - all had a lot of flavor and tasted homemade. I love trying new foods so will have to come back with more friends and try other things on the menu. The downside of this place was being seated on the right side of the restaurant near the carry out section. This was the pit of despair. I noticed that most of the staff goes to the other end first, and as a result 4 tables got seated after us and all of them had food on their table before we managed to flag one of the staff. It was definitely busy in there but he replied that he was simply going in order, but apparently order or left side to right side instead of arrival. I recommend trying to get seated on the side w the stained glass windows for better service. Other than that, the experience overall was pleasant.

We were lucky they were not too busy when we pulled up but after we ordered, they got swarmed. Or shawarmed, perhaps. We tried the beef and chicken shawarma plate (which comes with fresh pita, hummus, rice, and garlic sauce), and the chicken cream chip with comes with breaded chicken breast. Both dishes came with these little cups of some kind of red spicy sauce that was delicious. The shawarma plate is $20 and the chicken cream chip plate is $19. It ain't cheap but this is high quality food and you get a lot of it. I know I am supposed to swoon whenever the word "wagyu" is dropped but honestly, I thought the rice was the star of the show. It had some type of cream in it that made it rich and delicious. The shawarma plate was very filling. I actually liked the chicken a little more than the wagyu beef so maybe my taste buds are off. The breaded chicken was excellent and very tasty. Parking is tight. I am not sure if the liquor store's parking spots are supposed to be used for the food truck but I saw people use them that way. Street parking is very rough in this area so good luck. Well worth a visit.
