Pierogies is a delicious treat, if done right. Here, at the Late Night Pierogies hole in a wall (or, more specifically, a side window of Wódka Bar) pierogies are, sadly, not the greatest. It is a simple, but laborious, dish. You will find many variations in all Eastern Europe through Russia. Everyone from central Europe knows pierogi, it is a traditional dish served on many holidays and family celebrations. In many households making pierogi is a family bonding event. It looks simple, but, as with any food really, there is a skill to it. Good pierogis have a thin elastic dough pinched elegantly around a generous portion of some delicious filling. They come in many flavors, both savory and sweet. You can stuff them with anything you want, but the most traditional are quite simple, originating from humble beginnings of our ancestors, like cabbage and mushrooms, potato, potato and white cheese, blueberries and sugar..... I am Polish and was really looking forward to having an endless supply of pierogies in OTR. I know Babushka pierogies from Findlay Market and was buying them frozen from time to time in the past, whenever I felt homesick. Even then, these dumplings never hit the home run. The dough was waaaaaaay too thick and the most popular filling, cheese potato, was underseasoned. I am not a fan of their twists on fillings, like loading them with bacon or cheddar, but I guess that is to cater to local tastes. Because they are made so thick, with a huge pinched rim around, they are more forgiving, but still very hard to boil without coming unpinched or torn and spilling the filling all over the pot. I guess for this reason Babushka suggests frying them, which is NOT the traditional way. Now that I had the pierogies from their take away window on several occasions, I have to say they bring a bad name to my beloved dish. They are sauteed straight from frozen, which makes the already too thick dough more chewy, tough and heavy. They are way too big, and therefore you only get 4 per serving. The outer rim where you pinch the dough together is way too wide and amateur, something like that would never fly in Europe. Instead of enjoying some beautiful filling encapsulated in thin layer of dough, I felt like I was eating chunks of meh starch on starch drama. The potato cheddar was sooo bland it made me sad, just a yellow mushy mash. Not enjoyable at all. The presentation leaves a lot to wish for too. 'Babushka' means Grandma in Russian. With all due respect, I really don't think any Grandma would approve of these. Cannot recommend.

Such a fun concept! Just walked past this unassuming window (very tall in fact) with a chalkboard sign in front to realize that inside held pierogis. Be still my beating heart. Bacon cheese and potato, what more could a girl want. And it is close to popular bars, this would be awesome to check out after a night out.

Wow! I am so excited that there is now another incredible walk up window option in OTR. I I have now had them two weekends in a row and was very pleased both times. For $7, you can get four pierogies, and you can mix and match the varieties. The choices available are Cheddar, Bacon, Rosemary and garlic, and Black bean and sweet potato. Each time I have gotten one of each. I think that my favorite is the bacon, but I like all of them. The service has been very friendly both times, and the food was ready within minutes. I highly recommend checking them out the next time you are out in OTR.

I LOVE these Pierogies so I was really excited to find they had opened a walk up window for some late night snacking! Their menu rotates, but really, anything they serve is delicious. On the most recent visit, the cheddar bacon pierogies were my favorite. Definitely opt for the sour cream on top for added yumminess! The staff was super friendly and our orders were up very quick, even on a busy Saturday night. Skip the long pizza line across the street and come here!

First time here but have read.multiple reviews and was intrigued. Did not disappoint in the least,…read moreand already planning another dinner. There were three of us and we split the holubtsi (cabbage roll with tomato sauce), the special pelmeni (had a pesto type sauce and slice of radish pretty much for each piece) and the cauliflower schnitzel. Plenty of food for us with 20 pieces of the pelmeni and the two cabbage rolls were ample. Cauliflower was wonderful , and again, an ample portion. Spaetzle was quite tasty. Food was brought promptly and the presentation of the dishes very attractive. And then the dessert. The Carrot Cake Medovik was amazing! All the layers and so tasty! We also had the cheesecake which was good;, fruit compote and apricots gave it pizzaz but just the cake itself was light and flavorful. This is not a New York style and it far surpasses any NY style I've had. The space is interesting. I like the banquettes. It's a smaller space but you're not right on top of each other, and even with the higher ceilings it was not noisy/loud. Nice gem of a restaurant on Court Street.

Cabbage and spaetzel is a must. Salt cod dumplings delicious and the polish hunters stew was a crowd pleaser. If you like borscht, they have a killer white borscht soup. Would be five stars but they do not offer any decaf after dinner options. Only caffeinated coffee and caffeinated teas.

Delicious ready-to-eat pierogis in Findlay Market…read more Two friends created Babushka's Pierogi as a delicious homage to their grandmothers' cooking, in Findlay Market, OTR, Cincinnati. We spent a day at the market and riding the Connector (May 2026), and circled back here for their delicious authentic creations. They serve 15 home-made varieties, including traditional combinations of potato,, sauerkraut, mushrooms, cabbage, and kielbasa. And some adventurous recipes with goetta, lentil chili, sweet potato, beef & onion, bacon, cheddar, and even a vegan potato and onion. We chose classic potato pierogis with caramelized onion, which we enjoyed with craft beers at tables outside the market. The dough here was fairly thin, which is our preference, because we like the lighter shell around the savory contents. Learning about Babushka's Pierogi, i see they also sell at local groceries and they supply some local restaurants. We will search!

More curious than hungry I got two varieties to sample and do reconnaissance for a future visit.
