Wow! Great first experience at Baby Bear Biscuits! Super nice staff - answered all of my questions and helped me figure out what to order. I thoroughly enjoyed the BLTA Biscuit. Delicious crunchy perfectly executed bacon, fresh avocado, tasty heirloom tomato, and the arugula & pickled red onion was all exquisite - on a delicious biscuit! Biscuit was buttery but not greasy - soft and pillowy on the inside with a nice firm exterior. Everything on the menu looked great. Will definitely be back! I also love the SLO Market in general. Such a cool place to hang out - and a great place to go with friends who might have different tastes or dietary restrictions since there's so many options in one place. Glad I didn't order a side as the biscuit itself was plenty (!) and left us with just enough room to pop over to Negranti for a small scoop of ice cream. Ambiance was excellent. Lots of seating options inside and out. Excellent musician playing today that was lovely background music for a catch up luncheon with my childhood bestie. Highly recommend!! Travelers: great for a stop along the road - not far off the highway.

I was super happy to find this mostly gluten free place, and they serve halal chicken! The staff is very knowledgable on which options were and were not gluten free. The blueberry dirty soda was good I liked the pickled okra. I got the fried chicken entree with dark meat and fries and grits. The grits were nicely salted. However the rest of the meal was not. The chicken was really underseasoned, probably not seasoned at all. So was the biscuit and it was very dry as well. I was told only the buttermilk biscuit is gluten free so i expected it to taste like buttermilk but this was like a cornbread biscuit. This place would be perfect if they seasoned the food more

Back again! Baby Bear is consistently a great place to feel the warmth of the South on a breakfast plate. It has become one of our favorites!

A bunch of us tried some of the food offerings over at the new San Luis Ranch Market the other day. It was raining, so we all sat inside where there was a lounge area as well as both regular tables and high-level tables. We shared the food, and discovered a lot of new additions to the SLO area cuisine. Two of my friends got the biscuits from Baby Bear Biscuits. One got the bacon, lettuce, tomato, and avocado on a biscuit and the other got gravy and biscuits. I got to taste some of the BLT and it was delicious. It also had that full rich flavor of the biscuit to kind of pump up the volume. It's huge, like four biscuits in one, so the servings are very large. We had fun dining inside, but it is kind of a food court experience. Don't expect tablecloths or service. You have to walk over to each vendor and order what you want, and then basically get it as takeout to take to your table. Always fun to try new things and we left with lots of new dining options.

I wanted to like this place but some things were kind of meh. In their defense, what I ordered was really hearty and thick and I should have read the menu more carefully. I ordered the Piggy Wiggly (wiggy?) which had bacon jam, strips of bacon, and ham. It was just overkill; I didn't think they'd put so much everything. The service was also oddly slow. A few people went up to the counter to double check on their order. It was really busy since we went The Weeknd before Easter and there was an Easter egg hunt going on for children but other than that it was pretty casual. The biscuit itself was delicious; I just wish I got something more simple. I'd be willing to try it again with something else lighter on the menu.

Very crispy chicken. Very creamy grits. The salad was placed over hot grits and just didn't belong. Otherwise this is a very delicious meal.

I went to Baby Bear Biscuits a couple of times when I was in SLO. The first day, I got the biscuit with ham, bacon, and bacon jam. It was really amazing, full of flavor, and more like a meal than just a biscuit sandwich. When I came back, I ordered the biscuit with the fried green tomatoes, and it was really delicious. I liked how it was a little bit lighter and very fresh. Though neither biscuit really seemed possible for me to pick up and eat, I had to use a knife and fork for both of them. Food was made to order and very fresh. I agree with what others have said that the service is slow, and the staff don't seem very friendly or welcoming. When you walk up, they don't even look up. We did get acknowledged with a gruff "in a minute" on the second visit. Also, it does seem to take a bit of time for the food to come out. I appreciate that it was made fresh to order.

Last time I was I the SLO Ranch Farms and Marketplace was at the March 21 "soft opening" event for several of the restaurant establishments there in. That was quite an event and one of the restaurants, Baby Bear Biscuits, was more than intriguing and so a return trip was planned. Recently we made the trip and had another opportunity to not only to converse with Chef Norwood Pryor regarding his dedication of farm to table fare but to order several dishes from his Menu. From the moment we stepped up to order to our departure...all staff were helpful, friendly and attentive. The ambiance/atmosphere was as first experienced at the "soft opening" ...pleasant and airy, with a good buzz and plenty of available seating. Our order consisted of Appetizers: Fried Green Tomatoes (3/5 - not as "stunning" as I expected (crust was "soft", not "crisp" like I prefer)...but better for some reason as leftovers in the following days at home). Sandwiches: Fried Chicken Sandwich (5/5 - WOW...give this one a try, it's down right delicious!) and from the Special Plates: Shrimp and Grits (5/5 - Fabulous presentation and really yummy!) The portions served are more than plentiful so plan on taking some of your meal home ("the value factor"). After our meal Chef came out to thank us for returning...perhaps he remembered my Stetson hat from our first meeting. What stood out from our conversation was his "passion" for his craft. He was completely engaging, and invited us to return soon. Thank-you Chef! We enjoyed our dining experience with Baby Bear Biscuits in the SLO Ranch Farms and Marketplace and on this occasion, in this Yelper's opinion...Baby Bear Biscuits earned this definite "recommend" 4 Star review.

As welcoming as the name sounds, they didn't have a very friendly staff, but at least the food was great. The lady taking orders seemed very rush even though we were the only ones in line, it felt like "order your food and leave" kind of vibe. I ordered the pancakes with cinnamon and strawberries, not sure what it was called, but it was delicious. They gave me my food with no syrup or anything so it was dry at first, so I had to go back and get some. They had a weird mix of wooden utensils and metal utensils (for example they had metal forks but were out of metal spoons, so they had some wooden ones out). This kinda surprised me that they were out of utensils since I was there shortly after they opened. I would probably go back since I enjoyed slo ranch farms, but if there were other brunch options, I'd definitely like to try that out.

I was surprised to see the reviews on this establishment, I would say one of the best fried chickens for the area. Even better customer service. The employee who took our order forgot about our order, when we asked how much longer she apologized and found out where we were seated outside and gave us a huge red velvet cake for free. You rarely see that type of customer service these days. Additionally, she brought our food out to us when it was ready, I'm not sure if they always do that but out of the the restaurants there they were the only ones to do that. Now to the chicken, extremely fresh, moist, and breading was crunchy. I wish they had some sort of hot sauce. The Mac and cheese was great as well but chicken was the star of the show. We did not choose to sit inside but the area looked clean and would sit there if it wasn't a nice day outside.

Great location. Great food, and fantastic staff. The Chicken sandwich was Delicious, perfectly fried. Fried Green tomatoes had the perfect sauce paring. There were a generous portion of shrimp. The Grits were a bit watered down for my taste although tasted very good.

Really enjoyed this cute little place. The owner was there taking orders and also cooking in the back. He was extremely friendly and was happy to answer. Any questions about the menu. I got three individual biscuits all plain for my husband and I got a biscuit breakfast sandwich. All of it was fabulous and I love that it was fresh and made to order. The biscuits were fluffy. The egg was prepared well and my husband enjoyed the plain biscuits with just a little butter on them.

    BLTA biscuit

Three of us dined here for our monthly (or so) breakfast today and it was outstanding. Yes, there was a wait. Yes, it was well worth it. Delicious BLTA biscuit for me. Seemed like close to a third pound of bacon, generous portion of avocado, the arugula was dressed with a zesty buttermilk dressing that compliments the richness of the dish and the pickled onion finished it off for a perfectly balanced dish. Pickled okra on the side was a nice add. The biscuit was outstanding. Portion was huge. The chef/owner stopped by to say hi and we had a great chat hearing about his ending up here from NC. Such a wonderful man and so great to hear how involved he is giving back to the community besides providing scrumptious elevated southern food to San Luis. I would try anything on his menu. We will be back for lunch and dinner. I have my eye on the fried chicken and the smashburger (my favorite thing to eat ever.) My friend was stoked to find out she could order wings for breakfast. Thanks, chef. Glad you're here

I opted to do a trio with the bahn mi, tip o' Argentina, and the garlic fries. The food was good I forgot to take a picture! The tip o' Argentina was solid with the garlic aioli and the chimmichurri perfectly complimenting the steak and the lettuce and tomato adding a little bit of freshness. The buns they use for all of their sliders are soft, slightly sweet, and don't fall apart while you're eating. The Bahn Mi was even better. I love pork but was a little skeptical about pulled pork on a slider riffing on the flavors of a bahn mi. To my surprise and delight, it tasted just like grilled Vietnamese pork, which was perfectly complimented by the fresh and pickled veggies and surprisingly hot jalapeño. Finally, I got the garlic fries which were a massive portion, crisp, and very garlicky. Everything was good and with such a large and customizable menu, I'd definitely return if I was in the area again. I also want to give a shout out to the bartender, Kelsey. My friends ordered the Greens 5 with prosciutto, Toast 4, Bowl 1, Bowl 6, and everyone agreed that we would definitely come back. One thing that was funny to us is that we felt like the photos on the menu looked smaller than the portions that actually arrived. My friend ordered the Greens and a Bowl thinking it would be small, and she realized very quickly that she was going to need a takeout box for her salad. (This is a good problem to have, rather than the other way around!). The service was also top notch. Even though I ordered on the kiosk, I was still able to interact with the employees, as they frequently came around to ask if they could clear off plates from our table. I also went up to the front to ask for a box, and she kindly directed me to where the boxes were located that I could just grab. Next time, I would definitely mentally prepare myself for how busy it is, but for the quality of ingredients, and the portion size, I think it is great and would definitely come back.

When asked about their chai the friendly barista was happy to share that they don't use dry powder, they use a spicy concentrate. That's one plus!! But, it's not a house brew, it's basic Third Street Chai you buy off the shelf at the local grocer, chef supply, or natural foods store :( To their credit, they heat it up well and top it with a fancy cinnamon design on the milk foam. When asked if there is a local chai, the barista (who is a chai fan) couldn't think of any. This explains why the local reviews were so good for mediocre concentrate. While the chai quest was a miss here in SLO, Kreuzberg is still a pretty cool spot, with a fun, social vibe, friendly, helpful staff, and some tasty looking items on their menu (just not a stop for chai).

I mean... why else would I be walking into your restaurant? She explained I order there at the front counter and the food would be brought out to me. That's fine. I asked if they have mimosas and she looked at me and goes, "Mimosas?" Um, yes. Mimosas. She said "Yeah, technically, but it's up to the person working up here if they *want* to make you a drink or not. I mean, technically I'm not a bartender." I seriously almost just walked out based on that answer. You have a full bar, you serve alcohol, but only if the cashier wants to make you a drink? Is the rest of the menu also based on the cashier's discretion? Are you capable of pouring champagne and a splash of orange juice into a glass? There are 5 employees milling about, and none of them are bartenders? So... I'm not impressed by the service here and based on that alone I won't be back. I'm just gonna drink this mimosa, wait for my chilaquiles, ask for a box and bounce. I'm irritated I just paid $50 (yes, $50 for chicken chilaquiles and one begrudgingly made mimosa cost me $50) to feel like I inconvenienced them coming in. I didn't ask for a side order of apathy with my breakfast, and for that price, I'm sure I can find an actual bartender.
