Came here on a Monday and it was pretty empty. We were seated immediately and the server was super friendly and nice. We ordered the 3x3 platter with 3 meats and 3 sides. We got baby back ribs, brisket, and pulled pork. We also added a couple sausages and for the sides we got collared greens, mac and cheese, and coleslaw. The sides were okay in my opinion. I didn't like the cornbread as it was a bit too greasy for me and the mac and cheese was a bit too watered down and I would've wanted a thicker and creamier cheese sauce. I didn't try the collared greens or the coleslaw but my friends said it was okay as well, nothing special. However, the meats were amazing! The brisket was delicious and melted in your mouth. The baby back ribs also fell off the bone and were juicy and thick. The pulled pork was also yummy but it was my least favorite out of the meats. The sausage was good too but nothing extra special about it. The barbecue sauces were incredible though! There were 4 sauces and they were all homemade! I only tried the regular bbq and the sweet bbq sauces but I used so much of the sauce because it was so tangy, sweet, and perfectly thick. The staff is really welcoming and nice and has really great recommendations on the menu. Plus, this place is kid friendly - each table comes with a giant tub of gel pens and massive coloring books. This was a while back so I don't remember exactly what we ordered, but everything was very good, there are beer & cider options in the fridge, and you get I think 4 different BBQ sauces to choose from to accompany the meat! On a Sunday, I came here as a group of 5 for lunch right as they opened and it started slowly filling up as time went on. Please note that while I love meats, I'm not a southern food specialist by any means. The ribs were tender and juicy, and you add your own flavor of sauces to them with the 6 different types they give you. For our sides we ordered collard greens, mac n cheese and potato salad. Usually places get collard greens a little too sour for me, but this was really delicious and the Mac wasn't too heavy. As we got the 5 for 5 (five cuts of meat, which we only took one, and five sides) our total was $130 not including tax & tip. We came to the SF and decided to pop in to this location. We had a party of 6, they sat us down towards the back the table was pretty sticky. This location can use a major cleaning/dusting. The staff at the restaurant were extremely friendly. They had music playing while we were dining which was cool, they offer can or bottled beverages. They also offer hard ciders and beers. They had 4 different bbq sauces available at each table, they tasted like regale sauces except for the beyond hot one. The food came out quickly and all together which I really liked. The food didn't have much flavor and the mac and cheese was sooo watery and flavorless you needed a spoons to eat it. I was surprised both how good the food was and how pleasant the atmosphere. It's rustic and I found the server friendly and alert. It was comfortable to stay there for an hour with dinner. I did not get regular bbq. I ordered the blackened catfish, because good catfish is hard to find. This was one large fillet on top of seasoned rice that was drizzled with what seemed to be salad dressing. The thick end of the fillet was not undercooked, as sometimes happens; nor was it rubbery, as also sometimes happens. But it still had to be cut with a knife, where catfish is usually very tender. Despite this, it was quite good. For a side, I had pork and beans, and this was a relatively few beans and some big chunks of shredded pork. For this, the bbq sauces were a good addition. There were four bottles in the carafe, all unlabeled, but the server took them out and lined them up from mild to hot. I found the milder ones the tastier. Try the ribs on another visit? The server told us they serve them by weight. 3 was enough for my partner and I to share cuz we actually ordered a lot of food. We had fries, mac and cheese, caesar salad and a Texas rolled taco. Everything is great. I didn't love the caesar salad but that's okay, I just wanted to try it. I wasn't expecting the best caesar salad. The Texas rolled taco was more like a burrito with how huge it was. I liked it but I don't think I would order it again. I would highly suggest the chicken wings, baby back ribs, fries and mac and cheese. My reason for giving 3 stars is because I saw some unsanitary behavior in the kitchen last night. I sat in the far back wall and I noticed the female server and male cook let an older woman, who was not a worker, reach over and get fries for herself and put them into a togo box. She used her bare hands to get fries from a big bowl of fries that they were serving to the rest of the restaurant. It was really uncomfortable to see because I think it's very unsanitary to just let someone, who doesn't even work there to handle food. I guess she seemed like a regular but even then, I would hope that any establishment would be careful about the food they are serving. My boyfriend and I live nearby and have dinner here as often as we can allow ourselves to chow down on BBQ, incredible Mac n cheese, potato salad, cornbread, okra and collard greens! Everything is great here from the meats to the sides. The server (we always have the same one!) is delightful, she's funny and friendly and she remembers the regulars. It's a classic casual BBQ joint atmosphere, clean but slightly run down in a comfortable, relax yourself way. Came here on a Sunday afternoon with my family and we got a family meal 5 meats 5 sides and also got a couple appetizers. The brisket, chicken, pulled pork and ribs were all pretty juicy and good. We also tried the bacon and chicken tenders which my kids loved. They had a few options of sauces and our super nice waitress explained them all to us. She was very attentive and kind, even took a picture for us. I grew up here and been to so many places nearby but never ate here not sure why.
