This place used to be FDR, Ferment Drink and Repeat bar that closed during the pandemic. Not the FDR former President of United States. Lol! I saw this restaurant a while ago when I was in a neighborhood during my appointment. I've always wanted to try their drinks and food. Fast forward this year, I finally decided to visit the place. Mondays is not always busy. I only saw a few customers at that time. Upon coming in, I sat in one of tables. The lovely redhead lady, Debbie, whom she introduced herself later on, told me I HAVE to order at the bar. I didn't want to sit at the bar. I wanted a table. I sat on the bar since I didn't want to argue. It's no big deal. Once I'm in a bar, I couldn't help myself ordering food. They all look good but you can eat what your body can. Lol. So I ordered a hambuger which some salad. It was alright. The buffalo bites was pretty tasty. The non-alcoholic drinks are good. I eventually ordered a couple of alcoholic drinks before I left the restaurant. Debbie, the staff, was very nice. She was always smiling and accomodating to the customers. She said she's one of the managers but she could also be one of the owners. Who knows? Overall, I'll rate this place 4.5. But I'd give this a 5 since the place is clean, the space is wide while the workers are hella nice!

I'm a Dodger fan and we came in at night for something to eat. The people here are very friendly despite the sports rivalry. The lady behind the bar was very nice and provided great service. Definitely a great place to get a late night meal and drink. I definitely recommend this place!

A perfect place to meet after work for when we want someone else to cook dinner! The space is quite large, neat, and good for groups, plus there are several TVs for watching sports. I liked the decor, art made by local 6th and 7th graders. It seems like a comfy and chill spot for locals to gather. Plus the staff are friendly and attentive. We placed our order at the bar, were given a number, and took our drinks with us to a booth. Eric and I split the wedge salad and a chicken jalapeño pizza. After we finished our salad, our server offered to change our plates. We said no, cuz like why dirty more dishes! But it was nice to be asked :) Solid, tasty food that I washed down with a full size guava cider. Yum! So many other things I want to try on their menu - hope we can come back to try them soon!

Unless you're an SF native or lived in the city long enough, you've probably never heard of Portola (same with Vis Valley and Little Hollywood). Unfortunately, there's not much going on in this hood...except for Cantonese BBQ delis + bakeries and Jim Georgie's. I do remember there being an AZN bar on San Bruno Ave. but it's a blur like the rest of my 20s. So, when I read that there was a new cocktail bar that's dog friendly...LFG! Opening in April 2024, Out The Road took over FDR (brewery) that closed in 2021. They offer takeout and indoor dining. Order at the counter, take a placard, seat yourself, and your order will be brought to you. Visited on a Sunday around 7:15 pm with a friend. The bar had a few other guests but plenty of open seats available, great for walking in. I decided to grab seats at the bar. Drink: Nitro Negroni - smooth, nice balance of sweet and bitter, not too boozy, well chilled, really enjoyed this Food: Fried maitake mushrooms - delicious, lightly battered and fried, these were crispy and airy, served with a flavorful romesco sauce, definitely order one for the table Margarita Pizza - pretty good, thin crust with a nice chew, tangy tomato sauce, topped with mozzarella, grana and a herb pistou, wish this was finished with a bit of salt or more grana cheese and baked a tad longer for a crispier bottom but overall a solid pie. Size was about 12-14" across and cut into 6 slices, I'd say enough to serve 2 if you order an appetizer or two to accompany Service was great, the bartender was warm and friendly with great knowledge of the drink and food menu. Water was refilled throughout the meal and the bartender checked in regularly. Food came out fairly quickly. Overall a great addition to the Portola district, a nice casual spot with reasonable prices for drinks and dinner. Full bar available which is a major plus and a nice variety of bites, sandwiches and pizza. Excited to come back to try more of the menu!

Neighborhood bar in portola in the old bones of a brewery. Modernized with a kitchen and full bar, great place for happy hour or nightly neighborhood events. Enjoyed their brat reuben which was served quick and tasted great. Great for those in the area or a post-meal drink. Also has the vibe of a newly minted sports bar, with TVs ready for all sports fans

I'm really glad there's a tavern on San Bruno again. They've a nice selection of beers - some national brands and some local breweries. A full bar means they can also throw together cocktails for folks. The food menu means we don't have to leave to get a bit to eat. We had two beers each, and split a salad and a pizza for our impromptu Date Night. The fact that Out The Door is served by the no. 9 is a bonus! Take the bus, ya'll!

New gem in Portola district. We are so happy that this cool new spot opened on the neighborhood's commercial strip of San Bruno. We went last week to try it out on a Friday night. The place was full and the vibe was happy. The staff were super nice, with the bartender asking what kind of cocktails we like before he recommended a few. Cocktails on point. Also got a pizza, which is definitely the best pizza in the Portola district. Plenty of pepperoni. The sausage sandwich was excellent, and the fries were well done just like I like them. More than the quality of food or drink, I liked the people there. I met other neighborhood folks, and ran into my sister's best friend! It's a place where customers talk to each other and can hang out in a 3rd space.

This is just what the neighborhood needed!! Great service from the start, the staff knows their beer and cocktails. The food is delicious and comes out before you know it. The burger is fire along with the chicken bites and the chicken sando. The fried mushrooms with the romesco sauce is my favorite especially with their cold Pilsner on tap. The bar is clean and has great local art work in it. The bathrooms are brand new which is refreshing for a bar in SF. Great staff, great food, great drinks ! Definitely check this bar out!!!

It's the only reason I come to 7 Mile House during Asian History Month that aims for Filipino fun. My specialty drink: Ube Colada (non-alcoholic). I want to try the Lambanóg, but it's few years late and I wouldn't mind since I prefer any drink that's zero proof. This creamy purple smoothie is so refreshing, I wouldn't mind getting a brain freeze. Main course? Actually, I take something out of the lunch menu, which is Beyond Burger; pickles at the top, lettuce, tomato, and cheese; old school American style with a plant based patty! I eat the fries first since they're fresh and chewy. Wish I stick around for an appetizer or a salad; but given that there's several people dining indoors while few of us outdoors, I'll have to pass. Before I walk a couple of blocks toward 7 Mile House, I noticed the gas prices for both gas stations are just as high as near my neighborhood. I'll be wondering how long will a famous family run restaurant can go an extra mile before it runs out of steam. My best bet is that we must support each other as local communities, just like how the 7 Mile House of today had kept us together for generations.

We got the espresso martini flight, beef and chicken lumpia, and sizzling pork adobo. The espresso martini flight was pretty good - I never would've thought to try different variations like ube churro, salted peanut butter, and banana pandan - a small deviation from the classic, but it boasts wonderful fusion flavors. The lumpia was good but they mixed it so it's a gamble if you got chicken or pork, and I wish they separated it out so we all get an equal share of each. The sizzling pork adobo is good but could be better. The rice is a bit overcooked. Service is very slow - it's fine given all the sports playing, but it is quite inefficient. Definitely plan a lot of time here, and a very long waitlist if you don't make a reservation.

This meal was consumed at home on St. Patrick's Day. Delivery always robs you of a restaurant's true experience but despite ~50% of my genes being Irish, I have absolutely no tolerance for drunk people. My husband ordered the corned beef & hash because he's obsessed with the "tradition" aspect of food. I swear to god it's the only reason we tried this place. He could be on the road in the middle of the Mojave with a trunk full of perfectly ready-to-eat food, and he'll starve his ass to death if it happens to be St. Patrick's Day unless somehow a corned beef & hash food truck materializes in the desert. It's positively infantile. My Ratatouille moment was with the beef stew. The last time I had a proper beef stew was probably more than 25 years ago. My mom made my grandma's recipe when I was a kid. My husband, bless his heart, has erroneously claimed for 20 years, with minimal pushback from me because I'm polite, that there is no good stew. "It's a terrible dish with dried out meat bathing in oversalted broth!" He changed his mind when had the stew from Napper Tandy. Now the cheesecake? The cheesecake was an absolute joke and it wasn't even particularly great. It was very average but when you factor in the value, it becomes terrible. Maybe I got the last slice from an oversliced cheesecake but $6 for a sliver, and I do mean sliver--at the crust's edge my cheesecake was no wider than 2". Damon and Lee have created a fantastic bar that's been a beloved San Francisco spot for years. I…read morehave been a loyal supporter and truly value the community they built. My experience soured due to harmful actions by bartender Mary, her boyfriend Damien (who does not work at the bar), and Kim (another bartender who got involved despite missing the original incident). One evening, Mary was drinking whiskey on shift while her dog appeared unwell nearby. As friends who had plans to get our nails done the following week, I offered to take the dog out for some air when she did not respond. I stepped outside for 60 seconds, returned immediately, and explained what happened. She seemed upset at first, but it appeared resolved at the time. Damien (around 6 feet tall and 200 pounds) escalated the situation aggressively by dragging me outside, yelling at me with a closed fist raised, and using a racially insensitive slur (a variation of the n-word). This was deeply terrifying for me as a Black woman who is 5 feet 3 inches tall and about 120 pounds. It was not the first time either, he had previously shouted at me when I jokingly asked for a glass of water, though he later apologized, saying that is how he talks to friends. I accepted that and moved forward as adults. A week later, I returned to the bar calmly to clarify the situation and even apologize for any confusion about the dog. Instead, Mary called the police, falsely claiming I had threatened her and that I was banned from the bar (both untrue). Six officers arrived and, after hearing my side, confirmed I was within my rights as a customer and that while she was not required to serve me, others certainly could. They all comforted me while I cried because I could not believe the escalation. I complied fully and left peacefully. Despite this, Mary and now Kim (who was not even present for the original issue) continue to deny me service, blacklist me, and spread false stories, like me trying to steal her dog, to other bartenders and patrons across San Francisco. This defamation has real consequences: people I have known for years now avoid me, harming my deep community ties here, where my family has roots, and my professional reputation in human resources, where trust is everything. Mary has also openly admitted to me and others that she takes unpaid shots while on shift. She previously bragged about getting a Black male bartender fired by sending footage of a messy bar to the owner, then later denied it, showing a pattern of inconsistent and harmful behavior. This ongoing exclusion, harassment, and slander must end. I deeply respect Damon and Lee's hard work and want everyone to thrive and make money in this tough economy, but the actions of these staff members undermine the inclusive, welcoming environment they have created. Update: I am pursuing legal action and have a meeting with an attorney next week. I have never received an apology or a chance to discuss the situation, and so many people are now shaming me and my name because of a complete misunderstanding. The owners have decided I am no longer welcome, and I fully respect that. I want everyone to be happy and to make money in this economy. If the bar must be held liable, I will likely drop the suit, but if I can stop Mary and Damien from continuing to harm my reputation, then I will do so. Because I am being honest, I am happy to swear on a Bible about this experience and why this matter is completely ridiculous and unjust. Black people, women especially, are unfairly targeted in the US, and the one place that was a haven, the Bay Area, is now seeing that inclusion spread thin. I refuse to lay down and say it's okay. It is not. The optics do not lie, and yet again I am having to stand up for myself without a single human being supporting me. It hurts, but I won't let this ruin others' good experiences at the bar. Do better and be better, life is short, and there's no need to continue spreading hate.

I knew there are two locations of this watering hole, one in West Portal and the other here in Noe Valley, both lined in dark wood paneling likely meant to evoke the taverns on Dublin's Temple Street. I came in here on a particularly brisk day weather-wise and ordered the $12 Irish Coffee (Photo 7). I was not disappointed even though the generous topping of whipped cream amounted to a mid-afternoon dessert. Hey, I wasn't complaining. I walk past it frequently and noticed the pool table so I've been meaning to practice my skills. It was busy but not crowded, very casual, and had a nice laid back ambiance. People were chill and they kept bartenders very occupied, but they were friendly and the bartenders were calmly keeping up with the orders. My only complaint is that one of the billiard balls was missing. Other than that, I think this is going to be my go-to spot to relax after a long week or my hideout when I don't have a busy weekend.

It's been in the same location since Prohibition was repealed, and the history of the bar is described in meticulous detail on the pub's website. This is definitely no trendy pick-up joint for Gen Z drop-ins. As you might expect, they have a robust calendar of events encompassing bingo, trivia, live music, and dance parties. However, more important to me, they make a half-dozen specialty cocktails and a half-dozen Bloody Mary variations. I've enjoyed the $10 Palomarg, a refreshing hybrid of a Paloma and a Margarita (photo: https://yelp.to/5c0lWhLmBb), and the $10 Madonna Inn, a bright mix of rum, Campari, ginger beer, and orange bitters (photo: https://yelp.to/zWpjXVZ3t6).
