We live in the neighborhood and have been here a few times. It's a solid four star establishment: a no-frills, hole in the wall spot where the food doesn't disappoint. Admittedly I come here more out of convenience than any other reason. Today I stopped by during a neighborhood walk and got the chicken Cesar wrap which surprisingly hit the spot. It feels great to be back at Tower Burger after 12 years! My bestie and I ate here for dinner on a foggy Sunday evening. It wasn't too busy at 5:30pm, but it got busier as it approached 6pm. We used to eat here for lunch on special occasions or for dinner before a show at our high school. The ambiance significantly changed for the better as it became modern with updated tables and gray chairs. Ordering was easy at their counter, and the staff on duty kindly writes it down including specific requests. I ordered a California Burger without cheese and tomatoes, while my friend ordered a hamburger. There's an option to add fries for approximately $4.99 to your burger orders. After placing and paying for our orders, we were able to sit at any table. Our orders were ready within 10 minutes. The burgers were perfectly charbroiled and were delicious and not heavy. It suited well with the avocado slices, lettuce, red onions and the toasted buns. The fries were crispy and not greasy. It matched well with a side of honey mustard sauce (as per my request). Haven't been to Tower Burger in well over a year and will definitely not be going back. I always enjoyed their burgers and fries in the past but today was a different story. Ordered the bacon cheeseburger. One of the worst burgers I have had in a very very long time. The top bun was burned so had to immediately return the hamburger so they could replace the bun . The hamburger meat itself was kind of falling apart, the bacon needed more cooking and it just did not taste right. On top of that the fries were very greasy, overcooked and tasted like the oil they were cooked in. Definitely left in the fryer too long. I only ate half of my meal. Not sure what has happened to the quality of this place but since I read there is new ownership I sure hope they see this review as attention is needed! read more

This is a mom and pop shop in Portola SF. Not many options in the area to eat. Located in its own lil parking lot. Get this.... You have to pay for parking! In a parking lot! I came here because I didn't see many dining options on my way from the Forest Hill MUNI station to Mount Davidson, and I was holding out hope that I could find something healthy to eat here. As I expected, there were plenty of burger and fries options on the menu, and if it was an indulgent Fatterday Saturday, I could see myself going for the Mushroom Swiss Burger with Chili Cheese Fries. However, I dodged a bullet and found they offer four salads. Of course, I went for their highest ticket item, the $12.49 Cobb Salad, which came in an intentionally lopsided bowl.
