I ordered the BBQ nachos with smoked chicken and a side of macaroni and cheese. The nachos were tasty as a whole. I opted for the "medium heat" BBQ sauce, which is said to be the restaurant's most popular (there were several others to choose from). The sauce was good, but I'd classify it as mild and sweeter than expected. The smoked chicken was very inconsistent in form. Half of it was halfway shredded and the other half was comprised of big, chopped chunks. It would have been nearly impossible to eat with the plastic fork that was tucked in the bag. But thankfully it broke apart fairly well with some sturdy silverware. The chips were okay -- the basic white corn variety. The toppings were fairly standard for nachos: cheese sauce, shredded cheese, sour cream (which was nearly lost in the shuffle) and jalapeños. For some reason, our two orders of nachos came with two large sides of nacho cheese. I'm not sure if that is standard or if we got them by mistake -- it was way too much, even if used as a dip. The macaroni and cheese was on the drier side with a stiff layer of melted cheese on the top. Overall, it was rather bland and would have benefited greatly from a bit of creaminess. The drive-thru was very convenient and our food was ready to go as soon as we pulled up. While I was certainly satisfied by my meal at Baby Jack's, I probably won't rush back soon. One of the worst experiences i've ever had at a recommended restaurant. I work at a restaurant as well so i understand things happen, but nothing has ever been this bad! When I got there, they didn't have any BBQ and instead told me they were now a lower-scale chick-fil-a. I ordered a chicken salad which had hardly any chicken and horrible ranch. The chicken also had WAY too much salt and was almost inedible. (also a salad took 15 minutes and I was the only one in the restaurant besides my friend who had already received his food). The diet coke was horrible and there were ants crawling in the soda machine. The menu is now very limited and there is no wonder why it was a ghost town when we walked in. No longer serves BBQ! What! The service was not the best, the people were nice but the wait was 10 minutes for some subpar nachos. The tables were some what clean but the Diet Coke tasted unrecognizable. The sweet tea was not stocked either. We never tried Jack's before, so we gave them a chance. We ordered takeout and were a bit underwhelmed. We ordered a BBQ sandwich with 2 sides, a full slab of ribs, banana bread pudding, baked beans, and vinegar slaw as our sides. The BBQ sandwich was actually one dinner roll, and the meat wrapped in foil. Now, I understand the differences between takeout and in-house serving, but I expected at least a sandwich bun. Would I have gotten a dinner roll had I asked for the same thing in the restaurant? The flavor of the meal was very good, ribs were well cooked, and the sides, although smaller portions than what I expected, were also tasty. The store is poorly managed. Sunday at noon all the bbq sauce dispensers were empty and dirty. When asked they said they simply give it to you in a cup. The napkins dispensers were empty. I saw the Baby Jacks Bbq sign from the left side of the road. I decided to pullover and place an order to go. I checked in on yelp then I placed the order at the drive thru. I ordered 2 smoked chicken sandwiches. One smoked chicken sandwich no slaw for my hubby. I also ordered two sides. I selected fries and fried okra for my sides and a sweet tea. When I pulled up to the window to pay I was informed that the bbq sauce would come on the side instead of on the sandwiches. I then showed my yelp check in freebie -homemade banana pudding. After the check in was approved I received my order and the complimentary homemade banana pudding. Everything was good! My hubby enjoyed his meal. While I was waiting for my order to be fixed, a man came in upset about his order. Nothing was missing, however the rolls he was given were moldy. Not like a small spot, but seriously moldy. I left without seeing how that was handled and promptly threw my rolls out (didn't see any mold, but not risking it). A few years ago, I worked with a young lady (Michelle Dorris) who said she was ADDICTED to Baby Jacks BBQ. Actually, "THE" Girlfriend and I are not big on BBQ and we usually don't dine at BBQ restaurants unless we have friends visiting from out-of-town. Today, I had to exchange some Comcast equipment and needed to grab a quick lunch. Leaving Comcast, Baby Jacks was right there and I decided to give them a try. As I pulled into the driveway I recalled that this location used to be a Starbucks. Inside, I found the store to be clean, warm, and the staff was SUPER Friendly. While trying to order I admitted it was my first visit and they VERY Patiently explained the menu and sauce options. Selected the Big Pulled-Pork Plate, it comes with two sides, a dinner roll, and nice size drink (refillable). WOW... The food was GREAT, their Cajun BBQ Sauce had a TERRIFIC Balance of Heat & Sweet, and their dinner rolls are definitely the first-cousin (once removed) of a Butter Roll :)) For $10, including tax, I was so STUFFED that I had to pass on dinner four hours later. I had some food catered from here for my Christmas party and everything was excellent from the customer service, to the food and set up. Baby Jacks gave me everything I needed to compete my party! Our food even came with set ups and warmers. I am so happy I decided to use them! The bbq was amazing too! So we've been coming to Baby Jack's BBQ for years. The pulled pork and ribs are some of the best you'll find in a city loaded with great BBQ joints. Their selection of sides is great, and they have a BBQ sauce for every taste. We even saw a guy come in with travel size bottles to buy some sauce to take home with him--he was flying out and stopped by on the way to the airport. They just gave him the sauce, letting him fill up his TSA approved containers. If you have room left, get some banana pudding. It is also some of the best banana pudding you'll find. If you're in Bartlett visiting and want good Memphis BBQ, skip Rendezvous and just go to Baby Jack's. read more

My family and I were pretty big fans for a long time. We would probably eat there twice a month (or more) and have the in-laws and our kids come. So, this is a little bit of a price tag for us to do, but we thought it was worth it. However, the last two visits, we have decided we are not going to return to Baby Jacks. Here's what led us to this decision: 1. The Ordering Tablets. Customer service went way down months ago when they tried to implement the electronic ordering that you see in places like McDonald's. In my opinion, this was a HUGE mistake. Eating out is not just about eating the food. It's about the experience, the atmosphere, and most importantly, the people. I would go out of my way to NOT use the ordering tablets, but I was pushed by the "cashier" to order using it with her assistance. I KNOW how to use it. I don't WANT to use it. I want to be serviced. I want a smile when I order my food. This isn't hard to grasp. It does seem that they did get the picture because the last few times we were in, the ordering machines were conveniently "out of order." 2. Lack of customer service. Teenagers are not graced with knowing how to have good customer service. They have to be trained like anyone. A smile goes a long way. Raising your inflections at the end of sentences presents a "happy-to-be-of-service" tone. No one there looks like they want to be there. That's all I am going to get into with this. Baby Jacks needs to really look at what Chick-fil-a does with their customer service training and quickly begin to implement it before it's too late. 3. Inconsistent product. My wife and I ordered BBQ nachos. The server comes out with our food and my wife's plate is full of food, without the extra sour cream she asked for and with the extra jalapenos I asked for. My portion was almost HALF of what my wife's was (they don't have half or full orders) and I pointed this out to the server and she just looked at me with a blank stare. There was NO ATTEMPT to try to correct the problem. 4. Cold fries X2. The last two times we visited, we ordered fries for our kids and they came out cold as a fall day and mushy. Both times, we told them that it was unacceptable to be served cold fries. The first time it happened, it was fixed quickly. This time, it took the entire meal time to receive the fresh fries and when we received them, they had NO SALT nor the normal seasoning they put on them. 5. Sam's Club BBQ sauce. Before leaving last night, we saw something extremely suspicious. We saw multiple large bottles of BBQ sauce that looks like they were bought from a supply place such as Sam's Club. The labels were not Baby Jacks, because I had my wife go up to look and confirm what I saw. Come on! You guys are better than that!! Make your own BBQ sauce for crying out loud! I was extremely disappointed to see those bottle laying out on the meat table. 6. Environment. The environment at Baby Jacks has grown sterile. We went yesterday, which was a Friday night. A good BBQ place should be bumping on a Friday night. It seems they have run off their loyal customers because it was just us and one other couple of guys there. That's it! I hate to compare, but Central BBQ (while not perfect) has a lot going for it, even the location on Summer that was a former Red Lobster. I mean, if you can make a former Red Lobster have some swag, you are doing something right. Baby Jacks needs an identity and atmosphere and currently, it has death as its theme. All and all, I really hate it when something I like goes downhill. I write this not to simply complain, but I hope that the owners read this, take action, and work very hard to earn back their lost customers. For now, my family and I will take our weekly restaurant visits elsewhere. UPDATE: Will Clem reached out to me via Facebook a few days after I posted my review. I have attached the conversation in the comments. In response to those: So, few things to comment on. First, it seems he has had this problem as bit as what I received is a copy/paste of a coupon for a Ms. Lavelle... Not the most professional way to have an exchange with a (former) patron... Second, I really want to point out the teenager was NOT the problem, rather a symptom of bad management. The teenager did not plate cold fries on two different occasions nor did she plate the nachos. The teenager was obviously NOT trained to deal with customer complaints. At $5.99 for a kids meal, I expect the food to be hot, timely, and consistent. Furthermore, I find it super distasteful he wants to blame the teenager, wanting to fire them instead of deal of the issues I laid out before. Distasteful Finally, his last comment sealed the deal for me and my family (and I have been telling everyone I know about the incident when it pops up). He has no desire to hear from his patrons himself. He wants to bump it to "management." Another prime example of absentee owner syndrome. It's a real shame. read more

I placed a large order through the website to be delivered via Uber Eats. I placed the order early in the afternoon to be delivered at dinner time. An order was delivered which was completely incorrect, not even from Baby Jacks. Uber Eats refunded the money. However, when I called Baby Jacks because my family still wanted their dinner, I was informed in no uncertain terms that this wasn't their issue and they would make no accommodations to correct it. They had terrible customer service and never once issued something as simple as an apology. I am horrified at the customer service that I received. I will not be spending money there in the future. Its a small space so calling it Baby Jacks fits. LOL! I ordered the BBQ chicken and it was great. Meat falling off the bone. They gave it a nice coat of BBQ sauce. It was good. They also have a white BBQ sauce. Not many places around the area have that sauce. The nachos were ok. They are setup like Central BBQ's nachos but not as great. The banana pudding is ok. I am a huge lover of the white bbq sauce that hails from northern Alabama. When I saw that Baby Jacks offered it, I was eager to give them a try. I purchased 2 smoked chicken sandwiches, fried okra, baked beans, and baked potato salad. We ordered in using a delivery service. Despite leaving specific instructions, they left the coleslaw on both sandwiches. The chicken wasn't pulled, it was 2 big hunks on a bun and the outside of the chicken was dry and hard. They were COLD (not lukewarm - COLD) when I pulled them out of the bag. I had to microwave each for 30 seconds before serving. The sandwiches basically went into the garbage with a few bites taken out. My husband said the baked beans were good. The fried okra was good. My baked potato salad was incorrect. They gave me traditional potato salad (mayo-based with pickle, which I abhor) instead. Jim and Nicks offers a pulled chicken sandwich with white bbq sauce. If Baby Jacks version is 2 stars, in comparison Jim and Nicks scores 5 and then some. read more
