My husband tried this BBQ restaurant in a failed Starbucks when I was out of town, Apparently our visit was on another bad day here. My order was mysteriously lost. My husband's took over a half hour while subsequent walk ins were served. I have the patience of a gnat. I tried some of my husband's ribs which were way overcooked and dry but eventually caught someone's attention and got my order. Came here as I made my way cross country back to good old So Cal. We were meeting a friend who suggested this place. I like BBQ so I was okay with this. Upon arrival I noticed this was more of a fast food type establishment, which is ok by me. They have a drive through, indoor seating for probably around 25-30 people and outdoor patio seating for about 10 people. Ordering was easy and the girls working were super friendly and helpful. They complimented me on my tattoos so that was a plus. I ordered the pork sandwich with Mac and cheese. My friends ordered the bbq nachos. My food came out right away and looked good. The nachos looked amazing though. As for my sandwich there wasn't anything really special about it. The pork was a little dry but not too bad. I liked it. But those nachos though!!!! Working in the area and knew bbq was going to be for dinner. This place was across the street and had good reviews. Not sure why. Nice guy working the counter. But an ubscenely long wait for my food. It is a very small place and I noticed everyone else had obscenely long waits. At least they play rock music instead of country. If i would have had to listen to country until I got my food I may have burned the place down. Seriously I could have given up on the food, driven to another place and ordered there an still had the food earlier. Then it came and it was an incredibly small serving size. The sides were were in tiny Styrofoam containers...tiny. the pulled pork was a blob of pork in aluminum foil. I had to pull it myself. And the roll. That tiny useless stale piece of crap. I wouldn't have missed it. The sauces are good and thick. Found in ketchup containers on the counter. The tea is advertised as best in town. I doubt that. It was good. But not very sweet. And it ran out. Speaking of running out... the people that ordered after me didn't get their potato as they ran out. For my only bbq dinner in Memphis on this visit I am very disappointed that I wasted it here. Living in Memphis BBQ becomes difficult to rate one place against another. I had the baby jack plate my first time and found it a neat way to sample one of each type of meat they; Pork, Turkey, and Beef. Both the turkey and the pork have a nice pork flavor and are tender. The pork has a moist smokey flavor to it, which is a bit different compared to most smoked pork that tends to by dry. The beef is probably their best tasting meat, and is so tender. They offer both wet and dry ribs both are tender but I lean more towards the Wet Ribs. Most items on the menu can be made with your choice of one of the three meats. They offer many different sides . i found the BBQ beans here had a nice smoke flavor to them, but the consistency was more soupy than I typically like. The Loaded Potato salad is really good. You cant go wrong with the fries here they have been perfectly cooked every time i came. They offer 6 different sauces here ranging in heat and ingredients. The Honey BBQ is made with honey, Sweet is made with brown sugar, Cajun is made with cayenne pepper, and end of the world is made with habanero. Cajun is my favorite! I have been here three times now with my wife once on a weekday around 3 and another time at 12:30 on a Sunday and have not run into any service issues. I enjoy the decor here, as a smaller place it fills up fast however I have not had a problem getting a table for two. Recommendations: I recommend going for the beef here it is probably their best tasting meat. Also the BBQ baked potato is great. They have homemade pickles here, and I suggest trying all the sauces. Stay Away from: The nachos are nothing special generic chips and canned cheese sauce and jalapeno's. read more

Small side portions. Very small cup of sauce. There isn't in house person taking orders. Which is fine but when I went back to ask lady on computer screen for more white sauce she said it would be out and never was. Baby Jacks is awesome. I have stopped here for years during my duck hunts in Arkansas and just picked up a ton of bbq for a trip to the Grand Canyon. Baby jacks packed it up for us and a few days later we were eating really great bbq pork and ribs in Arizona with our friends/family from California. Baby Jacks was a total hit from Georgian to Arkansa, New Mexico and Arizona. Unreal!!! read more

The food is great. I'm not sure what complaints are about, portions are great food is delicious everything is fresh cooked, tastes like a home cooked meal. It's juicy, succulent (chicken beef, pork AND turkey) , there are a variety of sides, vinegar slaw, Mayo slaw, etc. Sides all work well to make it taste better, including great beer. Selection is terrific - it's a hometown run operation, and they have a great recipes. I could not believe some of the negative reviews on here; so I had to leave mine! I've never had a negative experience with Baby Jack's. Definitely some of the best BBQ we've ever had and absolutely fantastic side options. THE PLACE TO GO if you need catering for an event as well! If I could leave 0 stars I would. I went to baby jacks today 5/29/22 and received the WORST customer service EVER! I paid $26 for my food and asked for a couple extra sauces at the window. THIS IS WHERE IT WENT LEFT! The guy gave me the sauces and says "HERE, THAT'S ABOUT $2 WORTH OF SAUCES, IMA CHARGE YOU NEXT TIME" in the MOST RUDEST WAY!! then he slammed the window shut before I could reply. I then honked my horn to get their attention. The manager then came to the window and explained that they do charge for sauces BASICALLY DISMISSING HIS EMPLOYEES RUDE BEHAVIOR! I explained I would have gladly paid for the sauces had he told me there was a cost! I have been inside numerous times and the sauces are readily available and FREE! If I could give them a zero it's deserving! I ordered a pound of BBQ pork to go. Got home just before the storm hit. When I opened the container, they had given me nothing resembling BBQ pork rather some shredded beef? Pork? roast from what looked like it came from a crock pot. No BBQ smelt was in a soupy juice! To top it off, I place the container and the repulsive food on a scale and it definitely wasn't a pound. I was shorted and charged &21.+. I called immediately because no one in my house was willing to taste whatever I was sold and asked for my money back. It took many attempts to receive a refund only for the owner to send me an email that the refund had been processed. I replied that they had refunded the wrong customer and I had no idea who the customer was on the credit. Not my account either. I ordered the half rack of ribs with potatao salad and okra. The okra, fried of course, was crispy, seasoned, coated well and delicious. The twice baked potato salad was seasoned to perfection, firm, and just the right temperature. The ribs, however, were a different story. While not really visually appealing,(no bark or that fresh off the grill look), the taste is what mattered most. They were some of the driest ribs I have tasted in some time. I first took an end piece for tasting and it was dry. I didn't think much of it because it was an end piece. I did approach the rest with trepidation but was hopeful that I didn't waste $18. Well.....I wasted $18. Desert dry ribs throughout. But, maybe they were having a bad ribs day. Good luck. read more

Apparently only the meat doesn't come straight out of a can, Not only that, but if you have dairy allergies, most of the sides have that in them, especially the potato salad. I asked about that before I ordered and the counter person wasn't forth coming about it at all. read more

I've been to Baby Jacks about 8 times now. The best thing on the menu is their sweet potato casserole! Our friends would say it's the BBQ nachos (with fries instead of chips). I've tried both pulled pork and pulled turkey sandwiches... both of which are a bit disappointing because the meat is really dry. That being said, the sides are better than the food. Had to request that the sandwiches be brought out while the sides were being cooked. My food which was the baby jacks trio came out ice cold and my who was pretty hungry and settled for her dish. Baby Jack's is a fast food take on BBQ. There is a drive thru. My friend and I each had the 3 sliders 1 pork, 1 chicken, 1 beef. The fries and okra were good, but I really loved the beans. The value is great too and there are lunch specials. I've had better BBQ. Maybe a little dry, but not too bad. I'm really torn between 3 and 4 stars. Baby Jack's, to me, is the best BBQ in Memphis! We ordered take-out last night and it was so delicious, but that is no surprise because it always is delicious! The pork BBQ sandwich is always so tender and juicy and not dry like a lot of other Memphis BBQ places. My husband likes to switch it up between the Pork BBQ Potato and the Pork Nachos and there is never ANYTHING leftover! And I don't know what it is about their mac and cheese but I literally sit at home a crave it, IT IS SO YUMMY! We get Baby Jack's at least once every two weeks and it is never a disappointment and the staff has always been super awesome. Love ya'll and thanks for always giving us amazing food! read more

My wife and I enjoy our BBQ and have found a great place - Baby Jacks. We like BBQ sandwiches, but we also like BBQ Nachos - Baby Jacks BBQ Nachos are incredible. It's not just the meat - which is great, smokey and flavorful - but the toppings are great too. Sure, not everybody like jalapenos, but for me they are a compliment to the whole experience. Another good factor - drive-thru. Easy to get some good "Vitamin Q" on the way home. The place is easy to spot - it used to be the old Starbucks. Like a reviewer below, this business needs to work on their staff and their experience level. I called on Thursday, November 20th to order a turkey for Thanksgiving. I wanted to support a local business. The young girl who answered the phone had to put it down multiple times to go talk to someone else. She didn't even know what size turkeys they had or when they would be available to pick up. I was hesitant about using them, but after calling a couple of other places I decided to order from them since they were also near a relative's house who could pick it up. I called back to place the order and the staff member who answered the phone this time also didn't know basic information. I believe it was the same girl as before, but I am not sure. She told me that they would have different sauces available for the turkey and that they had to check with the owner (who wasn't there) about what would be available. She stated someone would call me back Friday or Monday. She again had to put the phone down multiple times to go talk to someone else. It is now Tuesday, November 25th and no one called me back. I called them to check on it, and they didn't even have record of my name or order. The lady who answered the phone tried to give me multiple excuses and rambled about having orders on a bulletin board but they had ordered extras, but it was first come first serve. I told her I had already called them twice and placed an order and at this time, I did not want to try again and risk not having a turkey for Thanksgiving. The BBQ potato is awesome! Just make sure you ask for extra sour cream. They skimp on it! Also, I wish they had a hot bbq sauce. They claim that the "End of the World" is hot, but it's not. This is one of the best barbecue places in town! I mean, WOW! The owner was super friendly. It was like he already knew us and talked to us as if we were family. Although, I didn't know all about the menu, he was more than happy to explain the "deals of the meals". Let me tell you this- The brisket was mouth watering. It had that smoked flavor to it. I came so close to smacking my wife, since my mom was at home, because, it was THAT good. She took a bite of my long, tasty, smoked meat, and almost reached around to slap me. The sauces were amazing. They had a small variety from sweet BBQ, to Flaming hot. Now, I don't know if the flaming hot wasn't mixed right, or not. But, it really didn't have a taste to it. It DID, however, have a sneaky, hot kick to it. So, watch out. My favorite sauce was the Cajun flavored. I filled an extra 2oz cup up just to drink it. Call it what you will. But, it was yummy. Not to mention, that had a sweaty kick to it as well. The meal was affordable. But, the deep fried brownie bites may have been a bit over priced for the amount given. It was good, though. However, they DO have a popular banana pudding, that is supposed to be "Out of this world". I wish I had tried that to see what the fuss was about. Next time... I absolutely love Baby Jack's. When friends come in from out of town and want to hit Corky's or Rondezvous, I tell them they will be quite happy partaking of the ribs and BBQ at Baby Jack's. Whilst a bit hesitant at first, everyone has left happily stuffed. Both the BBQ and the BBQ chicken are very good, but the ribs are where they really shine. Whether you like them wet or dry, they are perfectly cooked and so tender that the meat falls off the bone. They have several kinds of sauce and you can get vinegar or mayo-based cole slaw. This place is pretty great. Don't judge it when you drive up, though. Yes, it looks like a BBQ chain restaurant, but it doesn't taste like one. I had a brisket sandwich and my wife had a turnkey sandwich. We both loved our food and loved the price. PLUS, they had coupons available in one of those coupon books that high school basketball teams sell for fundraisers. Who doesn't love that??? This may be weird, but the variety of sauces available at this place made me love it even more. I have gone to A LOT of BBQ places in Memphis and this is the first one I can remember having white BBQ sauce. So if you're into that thing...there ya go. Pork shoulder tastes brined. Tender, well cooked. No perceptible rub and no bark at all. Smoke is light. Well cooked, but missing that rich smoke and rub flavor and delicious bark that makes great bbq pork great. Ribs were extremely overcooked. I don't mind ribs cooked past competition doneness, even prefer them slightly past that - but these ribs were hammered to the extent that I couldn't pick up a bone without the meat crumbling, and couldn't tear a rib off without the meat crumbling. Overcooked to the point that it was dried out as well. Seems clear that these ribs are smoked in a gas fired smoker, but the smoke was still there if not the same rich flavor that an old fashioned coal and wood pit imparts. The rub is very good, similar to rendezvous, but overall the ribs were lacking depth of flavor - and just beat to death overcooked. read more

I like going to this place because of the convenience and good food. I have been three times, and I have received good service each time. I have not varied my order from the full order of ribs because of how delicious they are. The meat literally falls right out off the bones (no cliche intended). The Carolina slaw/vinegar based slaw is a good one to try just because not many places in the area have it. The people are friendly. You have to realize its a new joint and locally owned! read more
