There's a ton of parking in the back, just found out about that. Bac Nam I new to me, noticed a the reviews were good and wanted to try it out. The pho was clean and I was impressed with the spring rolls. The Hue beef noodles were pretty mediocre, and it doesn't come with the side vegetables like what I'm use to for a bun bo hue, don't get recommend that. When compared to the other Vietnamese restaurants, this place is also lacking in the spicy sauce. They have the basic sriracha and hoisin.. the uncle was serving, seems like the boss there. He was chill. Overall not bad, would go back for the pho and spring rolls again

5 stars. Wonderful staff. Endless choices and a cozy atmosphere. Dessert too Street parking

Appetizer #09 (Chicken Wrap with French bread and sauce) -- fresh, tasty, and paired perfectly with the sauce.

Errands + Bac Nam = perfect combo. It had been awhile since I've been to Bac Nam Restaurant, but I stopped in for takeout while running errands -- and it absolutely hit the craving. What I ordered: House Special Curry #53 - Crabmeat Curry w/ French Bread Rich, savory, comforting, and full of flavor. The French bread was perfect for dipping. So yummers. Appetizer #09 - Chicken Wrap w/ French Bread & Sauce Fresh, tasty, and paired perfectly with the sauce. Light but satisfying. Vietnamese Iced Coffee That smooth, sweet zing you need to power through your work day. Everything was packaged well for takeout. The service is awesome, the staff is great, and you can really feel the culture and warmth when you walk in. The restaurant is always clean and cool inside. Bonus -- I scored front meter parking, and there's also a lot in the back, which makes it super convenient. So good. Definitely won't wait so long to come back next time.

Perfect day for some soup. Seafood egg noodles and Crab noodle soup.

Sometimes you take things for granted. I take this place for granted, and this review is long overdue. It's one of our favorite go-to restaurants. We come often and are never disappointed. I don't have a Vietnamese grandmother but if I did I imagine this is what eating in her home would feel like--cozy and comforting. I imagine that the food from her kitchen would taste like this--full of flavor and love. It's a family-run, small business and the owner always greets us with a warm smile and nod of recognition. He must have lots of regulars because I notice he offers this greeting to many of the clientele. Like us, they don't really need a menu because they come knowing what they want. My husband always gets the Bun Rieu, crab noodle soup. He has a conversation with the owner every time saying he was thinking of trying something else but can't pass up the Bun Rieu. The owner teases him that he knows his order! Such wonderful connection with customers. I'm no better but at least I differ between two dishes, the seafood egg noodle soup and the Bun with lemongrass tofu. It just depends on my mood and the weather outside. Neither disappoints me. Service is not just courteous but fast. We often eat here between errands and appointments or when we're very 'hangry' because we know we'll be served quickly. It's a place we can count on for taste and timing. Try them out. You'll start counting on them too...parking is in a lot in the back or on the street. They have a side room for larger parties. We haven't used it yet but I've seen larger groups in there. So if you're running around town and just want a place to get some great food fast or you want to come with a gang for a good time, stop by Bac Nam. It's like stopping by grandma's house in all the best ways...

    Delicious trotter.

This was my third stop of my Bun Bo Hue challenge. And it's another excellent meal. Here, it's simple. It's mostly pig trotter. The broth was rich in beef flavor. Piping hot. The service was very quick. The food came out quick too. This is the OG of Vietnamese food restaurant. I don't remember when it wasn't here. It's a little small, but it was never too busy where I didn't have a table right away. I've had the pho here too and it's as good as any other's.

    Steamed Dumplings
    Shane A.

Stopped here purely on Yelp ratings to try out their pho. Started off with the Steamed Dumplings...wow. So much flavor packed into those small dumplings. The outside was chewy and went well with the stuffing and the toppings. The pho broth was one of the best we've tried (and we've tried tons from the west side to the east side). Soup was piping hot with tons of flavor. Service was excellent and the food came out fast. This will be our new number one stop for pho!

    Small crab curry

A local Vietnamese family run spot that's great for lunch. A hint, there's a small parking lot behind the restaurant. The most favorite dish was the crab curry! A small was good enough for 4 people. Served with either rice or bread (choose rice, since it's best to soak up the sauce). Shared the summer rolls and a green papaya salad. The summer rolls were served with a nice peanut sauce and the papaya salad a fish sauce. The papaya salad was a bit bland, hence the 4 stars.

Plenty of seating available, decently priced and great portions! Got their pho twice in a row. I never usually drink all my broth, but this broth tastes like it's been simmering for hours! Street parking up front or a small lot in the back. Restaurant accepts card.

    Lemon Beef Salad
    Dan T.

First visit and was delighted. Summer roll was fresh with correct fillings and a savory sauce. Steamed dumplings (Banh bot loc) was cooked perfectly with a crunchy bottom and topped with herb and fried onions and dipping sauce. Banh xeo was crisp with a crunch, savory filling and served with a generous portion of vegetables. Lemon beef salad, hot seasoned cubes of beef on a bed of salad with pleasant lemon dressing. Two color tapioca was refreshing. Everything was scrumptious and authentic. Service was quick and friendly. Ambiance was comfortable and cozy. Will be back to try everything on the menu. One of the best Vietnamese food on the island!!!

The food is unbelievable! Sometimes there's a line out the door, but the team is efficient--so always wait! This location is in Chinatown on Maunakea. If you're lucky, you can snag a metered parking spot nearby. Pho Que Huong is super clean, and I love how they decorate for holidays. Family-owned, this local business is very welcoming. Plenty of tables. Clean restrooms for paying customers. The food and drink are made with utmost care. The produce is always fresh and clean. The pho broth is unmatched. Not too sweet, lovely and aromatic. Portions are generous for the price point. Vietnamese coffee is a must! Strong and sweet--yum! The spring rolls even taste "healthy" here in that they're not too oily, and made with fresh ingredients. The customer service is always on-point, whether eating in or taking out. Note: They do not offer XL size for takeout. I think it's sweet they don't advertise otherwise, since they don't have the proper containers for that amount of food. Be sure to check out this authentic Vietnamese spot!

Your service is absolute garbage. This morning, I called to place an order. I initially tried using Vietnamese to order two PDBs, but the woman who answered couldn't understand me. I switched to English and asked for two "Pho Combinations." She understood that, took the order, and told me it would be ready in 10 minutes. I also wanted to order Quẩy, so I asked, "Can I get one Quẩy?" Again, she didn't understand. So I clarified in English: "Add one Chinese doughnut." Guess what her response was? She condescendingly told me, "This is a Vietnamese restaurant, not a Chinese restaurant." What the hell is your problem? On your very own menu, that item is literally listed as a "Chinese doughnut." As a server, you don't even know your own restaurant's menu, yet you have the audacity to respond to a customer with such an arrogant, rude, and racially discriminatory attitude. It's disgusting. Everyone knows you are a Vietnamese restaurant. But Quẩy is widely known as a Chinese doughnut, and that is exactly how it is written on your menu. Learn your own menu. To make matters worse, when I arrived 20 minutes later, the front desk told me my phone order hadn't even been made yet and that I had to wait. What on earth was the point of me calling ahead? It's a complete joke. If you are going to be this arrogant and rude, and if you hate Chinese culture so much, why is your restaurant located in Chinatown? Why don't you move to a Vietnamese neighborhood? This is Chinatown. This restaurant has incredibly low-quality staff and a glaring issue with discrimination. It is absurd that an employee can work here without even knowing the menu. To openly disrespect and discriminate against Chinese customers--when you are located in Chinatown and 80% of your repeat customers are Chinese--is pathetic. Take your business elsewhere.

I heard they will keep this space for special events. The restaurant is quite busy and I'm glad we had reservations. Good thing I was there prior to lunch hour opening, otherwise we may lose our reservations since the person who made reservations tends to be habitual in arriving late. We dined in May, but it's been awhile since I first dined here. I preferred dining in Chinatown during lunch time than at dinner. Our waiter was really nice and helpful. I forgot his name, but I remembered that his eyeglasses that he wore was cool/funny, since the frames for each eye didn't match the other eye! lol. Funny it wasn't me who first noticed it. One was square frame and the other was a round frame! The restaurant doesn't do anything special for birthdays except may write Happy Birthday in chocolate on the dessert plate that you purchase for the birthday person. Their desserts are unique and refreshing. I think there are some rotating desserts /flavors like their seasonal menu for their main menu. I guess you can always keep coming back without being bored of the menu! I was bummed to see a previous dish posted of a pasta that I wanted to try that wasn't on the current spring seasonal menu! When we dined for brunch over the weekend, I was able to get the Hainan chicken with the crispy roast pork combo. It was very filling , tasty and satisfying. I do love ginger sauce on the cold ginger chicken but sometimes the chicken is just okay. This Hainan chicken was really good and the chicken was really moist! I thought it was the best I've tried! It was good that I wanted to takeout one last time in August before they moved! No more the 50/50 combo with the crispy roast pork on the lunch menu during the weekday. It was on the spring menu. Of course it's best to eat it in the restaurant than for take out. Bathroom is a must for me when dining out and they had only one shared bathroom for everyone! There was a guy who tried to make several attempts but wasn't successful, since there was always someone in the restroom. I'm glad the waiter told me there was a bigger separate bathroom with several stalls for men and ladies upstairs. You go straight through the kitchen to catch the elevator and to another kitchen /storage area! Thank Goodness! Best wishes at your new location. You offer yummy and tasty food!

When we arrived, we were the first guests so got to pick our table. When we sat down at the pretty wooden booth, there was a happy hour menu on the table. What?!? And YAY!! There was a 2-for special on the cocktails and you could select from the full menu which featured an extravagant and eclectic selection. There were wine and beer specials too but we were here for the cocktails. From the happy hour menu, we ordered the vegan spring rolls, chicken wings, and the Bo Ne Steak--a Vietnamese breakfast with bone marrow, cubed steak, sunny side eggs and a baguette. I can vouch for the spring rolls, light and crunchy without being oily. I don't eat land animals but my friend said the wings were divine. And they give you gloves to eat them. So civilized (ha) and a nice touch! She loved the bone marrow and steak. There was so much food she didn't finish it so I took it home to the hubby who devoured it. No complaints and only smiles from him! I wanted to try a couple pescatarian dishes from the regular menu so ordered the lemongrass clams which was AH-mazing! Could have been my favorite dish of the night because the flavors were unexpected but undeniably good. And, the garlic salmon bun (vermicelli noodles) was fantastic. The fish was cooked perfectly and the sauce was savory yet light. I've never seen this option at any other Vietnamese restaurant and it certainly elevates the traditional dish which usually comes with meat, tofu, or spring rolls. (You can still order the bun with these options and they let you choose your protein combos.) Finally, (I told you there was a lot of food) we ordered the banana blossom salad. I rarely see this offering at other Vietnamese restaurants. It's hard to describe but I refer to this dish as the red-carpet version of the green papaya salad. It's more dressed up and sophisticated. A real treat and a must-have if you're dining at An Di Dzo. Parking was easy since it's at Ward (by the theaters or you can park anywhere in the village). The restaurant is clean and modern. Been wanting to try Vietnamese food that wasn't Pho or Bahn Mi…read more Got the beef salad and for someone who doesn't eat rabbit food, I gotta admit it was good. The dressing was really good. You already know the beef was good or it wouldn't get a good review from me. Got the spring rolls which was nice and hot. Wrapped the spring roll, noodles and the carrot & daikon with the lettuce and dipped it into the sauce. Winnahs. For the main entrees got the crispy fried noodles with seafood. It's like the Vietnamese version of Chinese seafood with cake noodles. Very crunchy and tasty. Lots of seafood. The other entree was the combo sizling plate. Yes, the plate was sizling. The plate had pate, sausage, meatball, beef and a fried egg. I've never tasted anything like that before. It's not the usual taste that you're accustomed to but i enjoyed it. I thought it was good. Both entrees and the salad are good serving size. I like the spring rolls and wish had more but that's just me. The service is excellent even though it was pretty busy. The waiter apologized for being late but it was quite understandable. He's so polite. The lady who might be the owner was very pleasant and personable. It was a very good experience. The only thing that might be a slight problem like any other restaurant on Kapahulu is parking.
