I'm going to preface this by saying that the food was really good. My son and I both saw a roach on a wall next to our table before we got our food. The restaurant was clean, so hopefully it was out of the norm. We had dinner here on a Monday evening and it wasn't too busy. A lot of people buying take out though. We ordered the calamari $14.95, summer rolls $12.95, NY steak $25.95, beef back ribs pho $25.95 and chicken pho $16.95. I really liked my calamari and beef back ribs pho. The calamari was crispy and tender. I got two huge beef ribs in my pho. There was a lot of meat on the bone. The broth was fragrant and wasn't overly salty. Try this place out if you're craving Vietnamese food.
We wanted to try another local restaurant that is new to us. We've passed Ribs and broth many times. Parking was easy in their free lot and that's always helpful. The staff was welcoming and didn't rush they let us look through the menu at our place. I was surprised to see that they had a. Egg noodle dish and not in a soup. Very different to me. I tried it and liked it. I'm definitely going back to try some of their other dishes. The restaurant is clean and well run nice casual restaurant
I was really impressed with this location! The interior is much nicer than other Ribs and Broth locations on the island and the food is better! We had a party of 6 and the bill was about $250, though we ordered a lot of appetizers. I'd say the appetizers are what blew us away over the main meals, which is why I give them 4 stars. The Banh Xeo Crepe was SOOO good. I'd highly recommend getting that. Soup wise I thought the Bun Bo Hue was delicious but the meat was tough. The steak in the pho was also tough, which none of us liked. I'd give them 5 stars if their soup meat was more tender. The staff was very attentive and friendly! I'd come back!
Came here around 8:30 PM on a Wednesday and was happy to find they were still open. Yelp listed their closing time as 9:30 PM, but the sign on the restaurant said 10 PM, which was a nice surprise. The restaurant itself was super clean and very cold, which we appreciated. The service was excellent--workers were friendly, checked in on us during our meal, and our food came out in under 10 minutes. The chili oil was also rgood, and I appreciated how generous they were with the meat in the pho. The only downside was the broth. It was a bit salty, and I couldn't taste much of the classic pho flavors like star anise because the saltiness overpowered everything else. Adding some hoisin helped balance it out with a little sweetness, which made it more enjoyable. Overall, I'd come back because the portion of meat was generous, the service was great, and it's nice to have a late-night pho option. I'm hoping it was just an off night and that the broth isn't usually that salty.
3.5 stars! No doubt this cute Vietnamese restaurant serves meat and soup, but thankfully there are a handful of vegetarian choices for this plant-based girlie! While my dining companions chose the infamous meaty pho, another the spring roll vermicelli dish, I ordered the stir-fried lemongrass tofu -- happily enjoying the bright flavors with a mound of white rice and a refreshing green salad. "Mmmm, salty," said one person after a sip of the pho broth. "It's soooo good," said another after a delicate bite of the fall-off-the-bone rib. "I can't finish all this food," groaned another, staring at the overflowing dish of spring rolls atop a bed of vermicelli's noodles. Meanwhile, I had horked down all my lemongrass tofu as if I was racing to win first prize in the clean plate club. Prices were about $18.95 and up for the main entree. Separate checks do-able. Only minus, no substitutions on any menu item. And since I was last to be served, I dug in before I remembered to take a photo. Free parking in an adjacent lot (remember old Sushi King?) or street parking. Check em out!
Ribs and Broth is one of my go-to pho spots whenever I'm craving a bowl that feels like a warm hug. The broth is rich, flavorful, and dangerously drinkable--I always tell myself I'll save some for later, and somehow the bowl ends up empty every time. The ribs are so tender they practically file for separation from the bone before they even reach your table. The only downside is that everyone else seems to know how good it is too. It can get pretty busy, and parking sometimes turns into a side quest worthy of its own Yelp review. The dining room is a bit cramped, but honestly, once the pho arrives, I forget I'm sitting shoulder-to-shoulder with half of Honolulu. Overall, this is one of my favorite pho spots and a place I keep coming back to. If the main location is packed, they also have another location at STIX in Waikiki. Just be warned: after eating here, other pho places may start tasting like hot water with commitment issues.
I still recall when I first saw Ribs and Broth (RB) via IG when people posted their bowls of pho with a large beef rib bone. It got my attention where I eventually went to their Waipahu location with foodie friends on a holiday. It was overall an above average experience giving them thumbs up. But I never went with my family to RB as my sister cooks excellent Vietnamese food. Family did reach out to me as they claimed their beef ribs plate were amazing and extended me an invitation. How can I turn down food? RB now has a handful of locations and this Moili'ili restaurant is the latest one that opened in December 2025 near Puck's Alley by the corner of S King St and University Ave. We had the food take out and it was packed nicely and still warm when it was time to eat. Portions I found to be generous and visually the beef ribs were tantalizing. At first bite the meat was very tender but sadly that was the best part of the meal. Personally I found the sauce too sweet to my liking. I took 2 bites and then threw in the towel. Furthermore, I'm not a fan of the fried rice as frozen veggies were used that really downgraded the plate. I'm the contrary, my family just loved the ribs and fried rice so it was more for them to chow down on. I had their beef rib pho previously at their Waipahu location that was pretty good where my friends and I enjoyed the food. Overall, a subpar experience for me as I deviated from what I usually eat at Vietnamese restaurants and got the wrong thing. It has been noted to think twice of trying something else new as I hate when things like this happen.
Vietnamese menu with a modern twist, mixing in some non-traditional items like ramen, gyoza, and fried oysters. I'm always leery when a place tries to be everything to everybody. For example, the Wonton Ramen is a wonky attempt to combine Japanese and Chinese flavors that just didn't come together. The star here is the Baby Beef Ribs Pho. It comes with three sizable beef bones loaded with meat that is literally fall-off-the-bone tender. Definitely a hearty, satisfying dish. That said, the broth leans more toward a straight beef soup rather than a traditional pho profile with flavors of star anise, cloves and cinnamon. The papaya salad was fresh, crisp, and refreshing. Nice balance overall, though the nuoc mam could use a little more brightness. Something acidic like extra lime or vinegar would really elevate it. The fried oysters were a winna!! Perfectly crispy on the outside and paired nicely with a wasabi mayo that added a subtle kick that paired very well with the rich oysters. The dining room is clean, bright, and welcoming, and there's convenient parking in a private lot next to the restaurant, which is always a plus. Also street parking in front. Happy Eating!! 37
TL;DR Beef Back Ribs Pho = ONO Spring Rolls = ONO A great Vietnamese option! ----- My wife and I were craving Vietnamese food and had noticed R&B recently opened, so we decided to pop in on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. Whenever I visit a Vietnamese restaurant my order is almost always the same: a soup dish of some kind and an order of spring rolls. Basic, I know. And my order at R&B was no different than usual. However, I decided to opt for the gigantic beef back ribs pho, which comes with three huge pieces of beef ribs along with the usual accompaniments. The ribs were incredibly fatty and tender, the noodles were chewy, and the broth was aromatic and hearty. I'd definitely recommend this dish. Just be careful when maneuvering the ribs around as they are prone to causing a splash. After my meal it looked like I had went on a waterpark ride. The spring rolls were also fantastic; they were crunchy and flavorful. Next time, I am looking forward to trying the oxtail or ribeye phos!
My family recently visited this new location near UH Manoa. The flavors were vibrant and balanced. The Pho broth was rich with flavor and the noodles had a nice chewy texture to it. The Num Nuong was good, the dipping sauce was like others I tried, except for what mom makes. Moms is always better. For you non Pho eaters, the New York Steak served on a sizzling platter was Ono! If you like beef ribs, I highly recommend having the Double Beef Back Ribs Pho and/or the BBQ beef back Ribs plate. Staff were friendly and prompt. Restaurant was nice and clean. Definitely coming back to try the other dishes.
My friend wanted to try this new Vietnamese restaurant that recently took over the old Bangkok Chef location in the Moiliili neighborhood. Ribs and Broth was the restaurant of choice, and if you're not into pho, they do offer Banh-Mi sandwiches, as well as regular plates. Normally I go for pho on a chilly day, but since I came here lunch on a warm Saturday morning, I decided to do a sandwich that day. We ordered the following items - 1. Chicken gyoza for an appetizer to share. 2. Combo pho - which was MAAAAAAAAAAAASIVE! 3. Lemongrass Chicken Banh-Mi sandwich. What can I say about da grub??? I don't know what I was thinking, as I wasn't feelin' like eating pho that day, so I ordered the chicken Vietnamese sandwich (Banh-Mi). The sandwich was good, but on the punie side, and when I saw my friend's pho, my eyes almost popped out of my eye socket & wished I ordered the pho! Lol! Overall, a very good Vietnamese restaurant with nice decor. Service was on-point, and parking was easy, as there is a lot of street parking or you can park in the private parking lot which is shared by other businesses.
Just the name of this place sounds good. Having ribs in a nice broth would be delicious and it was! I tried the Beef Back Ribs Pho and it was so good. At $25.95, it seems a bit pricey but when you get it, you realize it's worth it. You get 3 big ribs, so tender the meat just falls off the bone. The broth is very flavorful and robust. The noodles are a little wider than most but i prefer it. The vegetables are standard but everything comes together nicely. I would definitely order this one again and pay the $25.95! I also had some of the spring rolls which were good but the same as other places. Ribs and Broth is located in the former Bankok Chef on King St., near the Humane Society. It's not too big but comfortable and casual. There's a shared parking lot and street parking. The street parking is free after 6 pm. We ordered take out and the service was excellent. They were very patient and helpful. The food was ready when they said it would be. The order was accurate and packed nicely. I would highly recommend the beef ribs pho, take out or dine in!

Showed up late on a weeknight not expecting much and they were still open, which was a relief. Nice option when you're hungry and it's already past 9. They give you a ton of meat in the pho. Bowl was packed. Chili oil on the side was good too. Only thing I'd change is the broth. Came out kind of salty and I couldn't really taste the pho flavors underneath it. Added some hoisin and that helped, gave it a little sweetness. Might've just been an off night. Place was clean and cold, AC going strong, which I actually liked. Service was fast and they checked on us a couple times. Would come back. Mostly for the late hours and how much meat they give you. Just ease up on the salt. read more

I was really excited to try this place, especially seeing its solid 4-star rating, but my expectations ultimately fell a bit short. The ambiance and service were genuinely good, but we ran into a few issues right off the bat. It was freezing inside because the AC was blowing directly onto our table, to the point where we had to ask the staff to turn it down. As for the food, my wife ordered the lemongrass chicken banh mi. Heads up to future diners: an order only comes with half a sandwich, which was a bit surprising. I ordered the combination pho, and unfortunately, the broth came out lukewarm. If you're a fan of pho, you know the broth needs to come out steaming hot so it properly cooks the raw bean sprouts and garnishes! Because it was cold, my sprouts stayed completely raw. Overall, I wasn't really impressed. It has potential and the staff is nice, but the culinary execution could definitely be better. read more

Ok I guess we were hungry. Between the two of us we ordered brisket pho, summer roll, lemon grass bahn mi and shortrib pho. All so good and plenty leftovers to bring home for dinner. I would come from Pearl city to town for their food again. read more

There's a huge bone in my pho! Three of them! So creative that only Ribs and Pho Restaurant offers this on Oahu. Originally started with the original Ribs and Pho in Wahiawa in 2022, its popularity led to expansion to Waipahu and Waikiki, and now to McCully that opened on 12/12/26. This review is on the Ribs and Broth in McCully, which has the same menu as the Waipahu and Waikiki locations. The restaurant offers authentic Vietnamese cuisine with innovative surprises, as well as traditional dishes. It is famous for its signature dish, which is a large back beef with bone in pho that is simmered for 8 hours. Its extensive menu also includes appetizers (calamari, summer/spring rolls, gyoza, oysters, chicken wings); bahn mi (bbq pork, lemongrass chicken, beef belly); vermicelli (shrimp, bbq pork or lemongrass chicken & spring rolls); pho (oxtail, beef back/short rib, ribeye, shrimp, beef belly, spicy beef, beef stew, veggies, steak & tendon/brisket/meatballs); ramen (bbq chicken, won ton, bbq pork, beef belly, seafood, beef back ribs); entrees (NY steak, bbq beef back ribs, tamarind pork ribs, fish, tempura, bbq pork/chicken, chicken katsu); and vegetarian. According to owner Phuong Nguyen, the 2nd most popular dish is the bbq beef back ribs plate with sauce, followed by the crispy sweet sour tamarind pork ribs with chili sauce. We shared the following: * Beef back ribs pho. Served piping and steaming hot, the huge bowl came with 3 huge bones of meaty beef back ribs in a clear broth with flatter chewy noodles, sliced round onions, and topped with green onions. A side dish of bean sprouts, basil, culantro, jalapenos, and a lime wedge accompanied the pho. Loved the clean and fragrant broth! Couldn't believe there were 3 huge bones with lots of meat on them, and glad that we shared this huge dish! The only way to eat those bones was to pick them up with your hands and bite them off, as they were so tender and beefy! Awesome dish! * Fried calamari. Crispy and lightly fried calamari with a slightly spicy mayo sauce, this was also a winner! A generous amount was served, and it was delicious! The husband-and-wife team provided excellent customer service. We arrived at 5p on a Saturday and within a minute, 12 people in one party walked in! Then, parties of 4 started to come in, and within 20 minutes, all 30 seats were completely filled! We were very fortunate to have been seated at a table of 2, and we rushed to order before anyone else did. They're really busy on weekends even for early dinner, so suggest that weekdays are better. We did not have any problems with our orders and the refilling of water glasses. The renovated restaurant has new walls, wooden tables, black chairs and updated lighting. Tables can be placed together or separated to accommodate the number of people in a party. Hours of operation are daily 11a to 10p. Reservations are taken for large groups only. BYOB. Located at the former Bangkok Chef spot and next to Izakaya Naru, free parking is available in the lot next to the building complex that is shared with other businesses; however, on weekends, it appears to be always full; metered street parking is also available. We loved our first experience here and look forward in returning to try other menu offerings, but will do so on a weekday. We wish the Nguyen family much success to the McCully location! read more

Generous serving of beef ribs pho. Towards the end of lunch the meat more tender. Asked for more lime and cilantro. It made the soup more flavorful. Service was good. We had the taro and sweet potato tapioca. They mixed up the order. The pieces of taro and sweet potato were diced tiny and put on the bottom. Usually the taro and sweet potato are in pieces and placed on top. Ambiance is nice. read more

I was super excited to try Ribs and Broth at their new location in town, on University (where the Thai restaurant used to be). Free parking at the lot and metered parking nearby. My boyfriend and I enjoyed the spring rolls. They tasted light and prominently of taro. Very interesting and pretty good. The pho was lovely but the noodles were unfamiliar to us. The noodles were much thicker, and chewier for our preference. The broth was pretty good and the combo pho offered lot of meat. Prices fair. Might try something other than pho next time. Customer service was alright. Staff wasn't as attentive but they were nice. The interior of the restaurant is clean, lots of seating. Only one single unisex restroom for customers. read more

Accessible location for walk-in dining and takeout. CHECK! 5. Free parking at the nearby parking lot. CHECK! We were returning home from our workout session through the Mō'ili'ili neighborhood, looking forward to eating ramen at one of our regular stops, when we noticed this new Ribs & Broth location. Although I was familiar with their Wahiawā and Waipahu locations, I was pleasantly surprised to find on Yelp that this Vietnamese restaurant had expanded to Waikīkī and, more recently, to Mō'ili'ili. We drove past, as I mentioned, eating Vietnamese food with my husband, who quickly decided to circle back into their attached shared parking lot. Since it was around 3 pm, there was no lunch rush to contend with, and we walked into this clean, new neighborhood restaurant while noticing a family eating. It turned out the family were the owners/workers of this site, as they stood up and welcomed us into the restaurant. Whoops! We apologized for interrupting their mealtime, but they said it was okay since their business sign showed they were open and they were finishing up anyway. It didn't take us long to decide, as we were familiar with their menu, and the food came out quickly, hot, and fresh from the kitchen within 15 minutes after placing our orders. FOOD: - Spicy Beef Noodle Soup (bún bò Huế)": I was feeling a bit chilled after cooling down from our workout and walking about in the blustery weather, so I chose this warming and comforting noodle soup. The large bowl was filled with a spicy beef-based broth, rice noodles, tender beef slices, steamed pork roll slices (chả lụa), a pork blood cube (huyết), fried onions, and topped with fresh cilantro. The noodle soup was served with a plate of fresh basil, jalapeño slices, bean sprouts, and lemon wedges. I found the spice level to be comfortable, with a slight, slow afterburn in my throat. $17.95 - BBQ Beef Short Ribs: My husband chose this beef short rib entrée since he was craving beef instead of noodle soup. He said the beef short ribs were tender, juicy, and mildly seasoned as compared to Korean BBQ. However, he was surprised that his plate didn't seem to have an abundance of vegetables to balance the meat's flavor, texture, and nutrients. $20.95 Still, we enjoyed our late lunch in a clean, new, and friendly restaurant and would not hesitate to return. 4.4 stars read more

Came here with my family because they wanted to try! I tried their BBQ Pork Vermicelli Bowl and I thought it was okay. Nothing really special about it, it just tastes like any ordinary vermicelli bowl. However, I did get to taste a little of the pho and that's really good! They use a wider noodle so it's more chewier! Overall, Service is fast, my bowl was okay, but their pho is pretty good! I'd come back next time to try something else. read more
Dinner in Moiliili, Honolulu, Hawai'i... While driving down King Street, I saw a white sign with red lettering: Ribs & Broth I thought: wow! I don't have to drive to Waikiki nor Waipahu anymore! Yes, Ribs & Broth is a familiar name! Their Waikiki location is at the Stix Asia (Food Court) in the lower level of the Waikiki Shopping Plaza. I've also been to the Waipahu location with free shared parking... All of the locations are good... food wise. However, this Moiliili location has free shared parking AND is convenient. It's between Izakaya Naru and La Cicchia, across the street from Dagon restaurant. Service was very efficient and friendly! Our water glasses were filled several times! I ordered the vermicelli with spring rolls and BBQ pork. It also had some fresh and pickled veggies on it! I devoured it! We also shared a platter of spring roll appetizers. We taught our friend to use the lettuce as a wrap and stuff it with vermicelli, a spring roll, and some veggies! Delicious! I'm so happy that Ribs & Broth has a new location! Phonominal experience... Though it was take out and not the dine in experience it's all the same as I entered the restaurant there was a staff that greeted me as I asked if I'm able to make a takeout order. Walking in was nice to see how spacious and the amount of tables they have but know that they had two air conditioning units and I was freezing and not sure if it's for folks enjoying the hot soup or spiciness but coldness was real so if you're sensible to that I'd recommend to sit near the door area. With that I decided to order the "Pho Beef Stew" though their ribs is what their know for I just never really heard of beef stew and pho for as a dish that I just had to give it a try and was pleased to see how the packed it all separately so that nothing gets mushy in transit. The soup just hit the spot after a long and exhausting day it just gave me the much needed energy for me to recharge which a flavorful broth that does have the beef stew-ish feel yet the pho herbal aroma was just so comforting. Huge beef chunks and huge carrots is the supporting role for me as I couldn't get enough of the broth along with the noodles which was cooked perfectly with being slightly al dented had a nice bite and wasn't mushy at all. I do admit for take out it wouldn't be possible to make it hot so I did heat the soup up a bit more to give it that first perfect sip...with that I'm not sure if I'd every try anything else there as this local girl loves their beef stew lol! The broth here is tasty but I'm not a fan of their flatter/wider, northern stylepho noodles. My husband's beef stew (Bo kho) w/baguette was okay but not one of his favorites. He said the baguette was decent but the beef was too fatty. He preferred Aloha Vietnamese's Beef stew over all others. Also, their summer rolls and peanut hoisin dipping sauce had a strangely bland taste to them. We really wanted to like this pho restaurant but will probably continue going across the street for Pho Nina instead. read more
I think I have to try another pho dish as the one that I had was a bit different from what I am used to...it is definitely lighter. I tried the Beef Short Ribs Pho for takeaway. Often I only use the basil and bean sprouts and don't add hoisin or chili oil. But i needed to enhance the Pho with the hoisin sauce. Ribs & Broth has two other locations: Waipahu and Waikiki. The week before was their grand opening week so I'll give them a ( golf term ) mulligan. Walked in and got my takeout in just under 10 minutes. I went to their location at Stix Waikiki. Business is located in former Bangkok Chef. Ambiance is nice with paintings on wall and tables and chairs. My order came out fast since there was many customers. I ordered pork belly banh mi and Vietnamese coffee. Pork belly was tender. Coffee was strong. I need to come again. read more
I was very surprised by how nice the ambiance was in the restaurant! Though not a very large spot, the place was very clean and had a woody modern feel. The staff were very nice and the food came out very quickly. The beef rib meat was so soft! We didn't even need to use a knife to get it off the bone. I enjoyed the taste of the beef as it didn't have any super overpowering sauce added, and it had a perfect grill char with that hint of smoky. I preferred eating the beef rib in the plate version rather than in the pho as the taste of both the beef and the pho are dialed down when together. Tips: street parking is nearly impossible at prime dinner time and the parking lot is usually very full until after 7pm. Better chances of finding a parking if you go early or wait till at least 730pm. read more
After church on a rainy day, this place was perfect!! Location is in Moiilili, where the old Bangkok Chef was. Their popular menu item is exactly what the restaurant name "Rib and Broth". The broth is different than the other pho places, even their spring rolls. I would return just to try other things on the menu. This new spot replaced my go to for pho and spring rolls. It was a surprise to see Bangkok Chef closed but Im glad it was replaced with a restaurant that serves similar food. I tried the Rib in Broth in Waipahu and they were great so seeing they opened one in my neighborhood was a treat! I tried the famous beef rib pho and it was fantastic!! Fall off the bone meat was exactly what happened! The mix of vegetables and spicy sauce used was onolicious! They gave a 20% since was during their soft opening. Don't think they expected to be as busy as they were cause the server looked overwhelmed and kept taking food to the wrong tables. Given time, he'll get his pace down. Food was tasty. But I think it has msg. I had that feeling on my tongue later. Portion size is huge. The beef ribs pho had 3 ribs. The meat had flavor. Nice staff but forgot that I did not want cilantro. Had to pick it all out. Condiments are on the table. Very clean. Restroom available. read more

Food was good, wish more oxtail was given and was a little tough. Pho noodles were interesting definitely larger pho noodles but it turned out good. Service was great even when it was a little busy in there. Seating was nice very updated and loved the vibe and dimmer lighting inside. Definitely the nicer locations of all ribs and broth. read more

Food was good. Service very good. Atmosphere cozy. It was a little cold. Ac was blasting. Seating was kind of small. There best dish was bun bo hue spicy beef soup. Super good. Da best on island. Dropped in for the first time on a late Saturday and were warmly greeted by a friendly hostess who seated us and presented the menu. Our server recommended the beef rib pho, while my lady ordered the short ribs. The short ribs, served with salad, rice, and a dipping sauce, were delicious. The beef ribs in the pho were fork-tender and fell right off the bone. The broth was light yet full of flavor, with a generous portion of noodles. i was so excited to try out ribs and broth (finally!) but the expectations kinda fell very short. They have several locations now and this newest location is closest to where i live so i definitely wanted to try it out, especially with 20% soft opening promotion. They have a small lot thats shared with other businesses. I parked in 20 minutes since i was doing takeout. Inside is very clean and service was very friendly. Menu items were small/limited and pretty basic. I ordered the beef rib pho which came out to $21 after discount. Not bad. took it home, reheated it on the stove and tried it out. meat was soft but bland. pho broth was also pretty bland and watery. I was left pretty disappointed since i was actually pretty sick and wanted to eat this. anyway - sucks that i kinda fell on the instagram bandwagon, but most likely not returning. read more
Free parking in a parking lot. Free parking!!! That's a rare gem for Honolulu. Service was great and the facility is very clean over all. Staff was attentive and kind. Food = not bad! 4/5 for flavor and quality. Noodles were perfectly chewy but they are the medium flat kind (not thin and flat like how you're use to at pho places in Orange County, California). Quantity 5/5 - a heavy portion for pho Price = fair for the island. read more

Located on King St. parking in same lot as the post office next to Fukuya. This is not their first restaurant and their experience really shows. Excellent options with authentic Pho taste at reasonable prices. There are also local dishes for those in your party that don't want that great Vietnamese cuisine but I highly recommend any of their Pho or Bun Ba Hue bowls. Great, efficient service and nice clean restaurant. Try once and I'm confident you will be back again! read more
