Always had good experience at Bacari except for today. We got an older gentleman as our server. The food was good as normal but the service was not on point. Our street corn that was supposed to be served as an appetizer was served towards the end. The server was hard to get a hold of, he was being way more attentive to other tables than us. and the cup of ice that I got for my bottled coke was half melted. I've been here a bunch of times and it's always solid, yet Faris really made this last visit stand out. We booked on short notice and the area was packed, and he handled everything so smoothly. He was patient, knew the menu inside and out, and gave us great recommendations. He suggested the street corn and it was unreal. Easily one of the best things we had. What I appreciated most was how he made us feel. Even with how busy it was, it felt like we were in our own little pocket of the restaurant. Great tapas spot in a super busy area. I would highly recommend making reservations before you visit. We went before a show at the Alex theatre and everything we had was delish! We eat a lot and ordered the watermelon salad, beet salad, octopus, beef pita, sirloin steak .... we were still hungry so we then ordered the shawarma tacos and glazed pork belly. There were two of us and we polished everything off and had room for desert! We got the pistachio desert (don't remember the name) and it was really good. Where do I start. I've been consistently coming here for the past few years. This time around, I sat at the bar where I met Cesar and Matthew. They were the perfect bartenders. I went to for the 90 minute beer and wine. The drinks were exceptional. The service and conversation was stimulating and fun. Came here for a late dinner for Friendmas for a group of 6 at 8:30 PM, and this was a wonderful meal. The atmosphere is quite intimate and cozy because of the dark lighting, and the sound level wasn't too loud, ideal for conversation. Standouts for me: *Stuffed mushrooms: Basil walnut pesto was excellent with the five cheese blend, and the mushrooms were tender and juicy. *Scallop medallions: I loved the carrot parsnip puree that came with this--it was a great texture that paired well with the perfectly grilled scallops. Truffle oil was a nice touch. *Bacon and double cream brie: pizza crust was crispy and the saltiness of the bacon went great with the creamy cheese. I was only in SoCal for 3 days for a weekend trip and ended up coming here all 3 days. That's exactly how good and amazing this restaurant was! The minute we tried it we knew we needed to come back to try the rest of the menu. This place is tapa style so the dishes are designed to be a little smaller so you can grab a couple to share. Personally I thought 3 to 4 dishes were perfect to share amongst 2 people. My favorites definitely had to be their Mac and cheese and sea bass. And I don't even usually like Mac and cheese! They also have a dessert menu and their best cake is reallly the best cake ever. Definitely get it with ice cream on top! They also have an all you can drink option for ~$32/person which offers unlimited wine and beer for 90 minutes. Definitely worth! The vibes are just amazing here too. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor seating is super cute with heating lamps everywhere to keep you warm. Get a reservation if you can!Service is also amazing and the waiters are all super nice here! Shout out to Christian who made our last meal here super special! This place was fun - really good food and service. My friend and I shared a number of plates family style and it was great because we had sweet and savory. We tried the french toast, it was fluffy with crispy edges and it was sweet, but not overly sweet - so good. We also tried the chilaquiles - they were crunchy but covered in a nice sauce - no spicy. The moroccan cigars were recommended to us and yes, we loved the toum crema. The glazed porkbelly was a really good size for sharing and loved the flavors. I had a transcendental experience here today. The food was so good, I got goosebumps as I was eating and I couldn't hear anything around me because I was just that immersed in pure bliss. My sister and I ordered the rainbow beets, the baguette with garlic oil, the vegan pizza, the mujaddara, and lastly, our absolute favorite, the Brussels sprouts. We were eating pure vegan and yet we felt so full and happy. The brussel sprouts were the perfect fried texture with an amazing out of this world mind-blowing sauce. The waiter/waitress setup is a little different - we sat outside and had multiple people waiting on us, so be prepared for a more communal/welcoming environment. Our main waiter Austin was phenomenal. He answered all the questions he could about the brussel sprouts. He couldn't give us the secret formula but that's ok, not his fault. :P Shoutout to Austin!!!
