Very good Italian fare and convenient to my hotel (It's always best to explore food outside of hotel). Trattoria seems to have a local following, with quite a few people at the bar and dining room. I was greeted by the cheerful bartender Sandy, as well as the owner, who was also present. A worthy Caesar (with choice of anchovy) and flavorful dressing started me off. Sandy suggested a small plate of Chicken Parm w pasta, as I wasn't super hungry following a travel day.

I was staying around the corner and it was snowy outside, so I decided to find a spot to walk and this was the closest. It was about an hour before close on a weekday so the place was pretty empty, I'm not sure why though because it was fantastic. Definitely an old Italian restaurant feel and aesthetic, you know what you're walking into. I sat at the bar and had great service all night long. The pasta looked amazing but I went for a salad and meatballs - both amazing. The beet salad was SO GOOD honestly I would be here regularly to get it if I lived in the area. I will definitely be trying to copycat it at home. The cake was also great, moist and delicious. I'm not usually a fan of restaurant cake but this one was almondy and flavorful, so good. I will definitely be back next time I'm in town with a full belly, ready to try some pastas!

Chef Cortez prepared an amazing meal. The pork chops, pasta, desserts and the special swordfish tasted amazing. Wonderful drinks and atmosphere!

We visited on a Saturday evening. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. It was not very busy yet. We received their complimentary bread with seasoned dipping oil. The bread was very good and quite crusty. I ordered the tagliatella alle vongole. It was quite tasty, but I could have used a bigger portion. Our waitress was friendly and efficient.

Heavily advertised happy hour 4:30-6 is unfortunately only avail at non-spacious bar that seats 9 or so. Website nor poster style ads hung all over restaurant do not clearly state "bar only" (see photo). Anyways, moving on, our party was asked 3 times if we had a reservation in an empty restaurant which I find annoying. Owner started yelling at hostess as we were waiting to be sat. We were sat at a table on the bar side. Server was nice, but owner was stand-offish and per replies to costumer reviews, rather contentious. Perhaps he's just too busy yelling at his staff (see other reviews) or immediately replying to yelp reviews, LOL. Our party decided to order just 2 medium sized pizzas ($18 pepperoni and $17 cheese) and go somewhere else afterwards. I don't typically like to comment on complimentary bread and oil, but both were markedly stale and bland. Overall, pizza had decent flavor and use of good ingredients, but it was poorly executed. Several reviews mention poorly cooked pizza, overcooked/burnt for some and for others, undercooked. Ours were of the latter, undercooked all the way, with no undercarriage, just a saucy floppy mess, that one was forced to eat with a knife and fork. I'm a bit surprised by this coming from a wood or brick oven operation. Definitely NOT somewhere to go for just pizza. Overall, I should have paid closer attention to other 1 star yelp reviews that highlight issues with service and owner. In one review, a customer complained of a nearly 3 hour wait for their meals and said they likely wouldn't return to which the owner promptly replied, "please do not!". Update: as expected the owner quickly replied to my post to externalize blame. He's amended his reply so it's a little softer. Firstly, we didn't ask to sit at the bar with minors, though owner is overly focused on this. We were fine sitting wherever the hostess sat us and made no request to specifically sit at the bar or the low top right behind the bar stools. And I guess I didn't make the assumption based off website and posters in restaurant that food specials were only for those actually sitting on a bar stool with their elbows on the bar. But it wasn't even a big deal, we didn't make it an issue about it, and moved on. We decided to just get two pies and go somewhere else more because we were uncomfortable sitting behind a group of loud regulars at the bar, who I'll mention offered the owner a glass a wine. But, my one star review was based off the terrible pizza, nothing else. Update: owner keeps wanting to argue about minors at the bar which isn't even the issue. Even going so far as sending me a PM on yelp! Anyways, to that, I'll mention... The Alcoholic Beverage Control Law does not prohibit a child's sitting at a bar as long as the child is accompanied by an adult, said Bill Crowley, a spokesman for the New York State Liquor Authority. Maybe you need to do your own research before commenting, as you so eloquently told me to do.

    Linguine alle Vongole
    Susan N.

I came here with high expectations, and unfortunately, I was disappointed. The service was good and they did a good job accommodating a big table. I ordered the Linguine Alle Vongole which was linguine with clams in a butter, white wine, and garlic sauce. I felt that the plate didn't have flavor. It just tasted salty if you know what I mean. I might've picked the wrong item so I am open to coming back again. There are a few but tight parking slots in the front. I recommend parking in the back.

Eggplant Caprese 9/10 Very crispy eggplant breading. The eggplant itself was cooked good. There was also more eggplant than there was Mozz and tomato- so I would suggest adding another couple slices to balance out every bite. I'd add a touch more balsamic too. Bison sliders 8/10 Meat was good, the slider burgers were pretty thick and juicy. I would recommend since they were so think maybe cooking them a minute less for a more medium cook. I liked the goat cheese paired with the meat but you really couldn't taste it, i wish there was more. I'm not sure if it was the onion jam or the blueberry BBQ but something was a little spicy. Bbq pork belly tacos 7/10 The pork was cooked great, and the bbq was a good flavor. I liked the idea behind the double shell (one hard, one corn tortilla), but I think it would have worked better if it was a flour tortilla because both shells ended up breaking and I needed to use a fork to eat it. Between the hard shell and the sweet potato crisps, there was too much crunch for me. I did like the pairing of the pineapple with the BBQ sauce.

He once told me that the only thing worse than cheap wine is Buffalo in the winter and of course, here we are.. We searched Yelp and Share Kitchen had great reviews so we thought we'd give it a try. Our server was Hannah and she is absolutely a 5 stars gem! Super nice and down to earth. We ordered several dishes: 1) Eggplant Caprese: deep fried eggplant, tomato, basil chiffonade, and balsamic drizzle. The eggplant is breaded and spiced nicely. It was served hot. There are 2 and it was good 2) Roasted Artichoke: it was really the heart with the stem, breaded, served with a very small amount of arugula, lots of shaved parmesan and a lemon wedge. This was very good- wish there was a bit more arugula. My bad for not ordering a salad 3) Bison Sliders: the blueberry BBQ sauce intrigued me. There are 3 and it is served medium, or maybe medium rare. The grilled onions were yummy on there! 4) Jackruit Tacos: these were on the paper menu with their specials. What is smart is the taco shell is fried and they serve it inside a regular tortilla. Both corn. Yummy with the pickled onion. 5) chocolate ganache cake: GF and surprisingly dense and yummy. Served with a dollop of strawberry jam and some whipped cream. Yummy! I didn't take a photo of it as we just dove in! We are bummed that they are booked tomorrow night! It's a great place to take a date and there are tables for 4 or you can eat at the bar as well. All around great ambience, our server is awesome and the food ono!! We talked to the host while waiting for our Uber and he is also born & raised in Buffalo- everyone we've met from Buffalo is so nice, including our neighbor who we will deeply miss. There was a steady number of people coming in for dinner while I was there. The owner/bartender was super cool and helpful when it came to picking out a quick bite. I ended up trying the chicken pintxo and I had a charcuterie board as well. I'm not as much of a drinker anymore but they had such a great selection of wines here that I would have been able to choose from a wide variety. The chicken pintxo was great. It had a really good flavor. The skewers were shorter which was nice to try to get the food off. The bread was great and they were a really great bite. The charcuterie board had the usual components and I ate it quickly before I could get the photo, but it also had sour patch gummy bears on it which was incredibly cool. I was happy with the cheddar, brie, and assorted meats but the gummy bears made it unique and fun. I will definitely be coming back here to try more of the menu next time.

While the covering does a great job of shielding you from the sun, we discovered that it's not quite sufficient for heavy rain. We ordered a bottle of Montepulciano--a bolder, pleasant wine that paired wonderfully with the stuffed mushrooms and charcuterie board we selected. Although the menu listed the wine as a 2015 vintage, we received a 2019 bottle. The bartender was courteous about the mix-up, and we decided to stick with the 2019. The charcuterie board comes in three sizes, and we opted for the medium one. If you're unsure about the portion sizes, I've included a picture with this review. The charcuterie was an excellent choice, with the olives and cheeses being particular standouts. We also enjoyed the sausage-stuffed mushrooms, which were delicious. Overall, this is a lovely and comfortable place for light snacks and drinks. We look forward to returning in the future.

Mind you this place is located near UB South, on Main Street so traffic can get tricky if you don't know what you're doing or where you're going. There is street parking, but during peak hours you might be hard pressed to find a spot. We walked in after parking on the street, and the door was propped open and the garage style window was open bringing a nice breeze into the restaurant. The entry way is accessible as it is a small incline walk in which is great for those who are using wheelchairs/canes/walkers. We went to the hostess booth and informed we had a reservation and were promptly sat near the patio window area so we definitely could people watch. Our waitress was patient and sweet while we tried to decide what we wanted of all the delicious options to be had. The restaurant does have a specials menu that may rotate out on the day, they'll post the specials on their website before opening is my understanding. Drinks: We both had water, I got a blackberry smash, and he had two grapefruit flavored beer (which was delicious and I'm not a beer person superbly). My blackberry smash was pretty strong and tasty- it lasted past the meal which is a good sign in my book to savor it. Dinner: He got the shrimp po boy (fried shrimp,Tabasco garlic sauce, lettuce, tomato, onion, blue cheese crumble), on a roll and it comes with sweet potato fries. The shrimp was beautifully cooked and crispy with a well appropriately coated. The sweet potato fries were tangy and delicious. I got the blackened halibut kabobs (coconut rice, pineapple salsa, soy-sesame glaze). And a side of the rosemary Mac and cheese. The kabobs were so delicious- the halibut fell apart and was tender. Coconut rice was on point with the pineapple salsa, it was like a meal and a dessert at the same time. There were some peppers that had a kick so I gave them to him to eat and he loved them. I didn't even get to the Mac and cheese because the halibut was so filling! He had some Mac and cheese though and really enjoyed it. I had it boxed up for me to have a nice snack. This was a very pleasant surprise. Tangy and delicious and hit the nail on head for taste and service.
