There's a small parking lot right next to the well-marked entrance, and their adorable bespectacled cupcake logo makes for a charming first impression. Inside, the space is a nostalgic dream for fans of all things pop culture. The décor spans across countless beloved universes--Marvel, Star Wars, Disney, Harry Potter, Pokémon, Mario, and more. Familiar faces like Batman, Spiderman, Thor, and the Hulk line the walls and shelves, giving the whole place a fun and immersive vibe. But let's talk about the real stars: the baked goods. The display at the entrance is packed with eye-catching treats--cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and beyond. Everything looked just as mouthwatering in person as it did in the photos that initially drew me in. In addition to desserts, they also offer cannoli, cinnamon rolls, brownies, breakfast wraps, sandwiches, bagels, toasts, bowls, and a variety of drinks including coffee, smoothies, and iced options. Since I was there for cupcakes, I picked out three flavors: Mocha Cappuccino, Banana Pudding, and Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana. I only got to try the two banana ones, but both were delicious. The Mocha one smelled heavenly though! A surprise bonus--the cupcakes had fillings, which I wasn't expecting. The frosting-to-cake ratio was perfect, and the cake itself was light and fluffy, yet sturdy enough to hold up the frosting. The owner was super helpful in guiding my selections and genuinely lit up when I asked about the bakery's background and theme. They host themed events too--like an upcoming Star Wars Day breakfast with a buffet, character meet-and-greets, goodie bags, and more. I don't live in the area anymore, so coming back would be a special treat--but I definitely plan to. Getting out of the parking lot was a bit tricky due to the busy nearby intersection, but it wasn't too hard to navigate. A small inconvenience considering everything this place has to offer. The coupon at Cakelicious was for 1 cupcake. There were a few options to choose from. I chose the fruity pebbles cupcake. The cupcake was light, soft, and moist and the icing wasn't overly sweet. However, the fruity pebbles on top were a little stale. My husband had the passionfruit cupcake and he enjoyed it. Cakelicious also sells hot food. Though we didn't try it this time, it did look good and I would want to try it next time. There are a few tables inside and we were the only ones at the store.

The cupcake bouquets are made to order and come in a variety of flowers and colors. Bouquets come in 7, 12, 14, 19, 24 cupcakes. Three weeks ahead of the date of the party, I called and placed an order with Susan, owner of Awesome Sweets Bakery. Susan walked me through the flavors and fillings of the cupcakes and the colors. I chose 7 cupcakes-3 Red Velvet filled with Chocolate Mousse and 4 Funfetti filled with Strawberry Buttercream and for colors-blue, yellow, white, and pink. Credit card information was also taken when I placed my order. It was very easy to work with Susan. On the day of the party, I went to pick up the cupcake bouquets and they all looked so beautiful. It was stored in a tall box and was easy to transport. I can tell so much attention to detail and hard work went into piping the flower petals. The cupcakes were moist and icing wasn't overly sweet. My friend absolutely loved the cupcake bouquet and the cupcakes were very yummy. Thank you Susan!

We opted for cupcakes rather than the traditional three-tiered wedding cake, so Sue whipped us up some delicious samples featuring homemade fruit fillings and rich frosting. The strawberry with champagne frosting was my favorite, followed by blueberry and lemon. To accommodate our vision for how the cupcakes would be displayed, Sue went out of her way to buy a new circular tower and get ribbon to match our wedding colors. The result was an impeccably designed table of delicious treats that our guests loved. To top it off, Sue offered to make us a small, fresh cake for our one-year anniversary rather than have us eat something that had been freezer-burned for months. Talk about sweet :). A helpful note for brides-to-be: Sue operates out of her house and we were a bit confused by the absence of a storefront when we first drove to Rehoboth to check out Ms. Buttercup Cakes, so keep that in mind and definitely call ahead of your visit!

They were creative, delicious, and she has a great gluten free selection. She arranged delivery, which went without issue. We ran into a snag with pickup of the cupcake tower. Arrangements were made for the caterer to break down & pack up the tower, and Maria would pick it back up from the caterer's headquarters. This was so perfect and convenient for me! Except... I got an email from Maria soon after the wedding, explaining that she picked up the cupcake tower, only to find that it was cracked in two with most of the hardware missing. She needed to keep my $75 deposit, and suggested I contact my caterer for reimbursement. This is all understandable. However, after having followed up with Maria, she admitted that when she picked up the tower, she left without notifying anyone at the caterer, and just determined she would keep my deposit. In my opinion, it would have been proper to present the damage to the caterer at the time of pickup. In following up with the caterer, they assured me that it arrived at their headquarters in-tact. A classic case of he-said she-said, and I'm left to pay the price. I would not say that this situation was handled professionally by Maria. The tower should have been checked over & damages documented with the responsible party. Just because you have a client's deposit does not entitle you to make undocumented claims and keep the deposit.

However, for Valentine's Day last year, I went with the classic red velvet (gluten-free), and oh my goodness, it was out of this world. I also ordered a vanilla cake with chocolate frosting for my boss's going-away party, as I thought those flavors would please everyone, and it was anything but boring. Several of the girls who ate it said that it was the best cake that they have ever had! Maria makes many more delciious-looking products other than cake which I am eager to try, but when I find something I like, I rarely stray. Sarcastic Sweets seems to mostly operate on per-orders and they also have a food truck, but there were a number of baked items in the case on the counter and we chose a bbq chicken calzone, which was very good. It was super hot the day we visited, but if it had been a cooler day, we would have enjoyed the Lorraine Mills outdoor seating area. We haven't tried the food truck, but hope to catch them in our area soon!

On Saturday, Cat's Cakes and Cafe's opened at 10:00am and I arrived about 9:55am; there were already a few people waiting for Cat's Cakes and Cafe's to open. At 10:00am, the sign went from closed to open. We all walked in and saw the labubu cakes in the case. There were two flavors-chocolate and confetti-and there was a blue, pink, and brown edible labubu picture. The mini 4" cakes were $10.00 each. The confetti mini cake was pretty good. I really liked the filling, but the icing was just a little too sweet for my own preference. And overall the design was spot on. It's perfect for any labubu lover. I had to get one for my friend who loves labubus as well. I spent a few minutes talking to Cat about some labubu blind boxes ideas. Cat was a pleasure to talk to and was very friendly. Besides the mini cakes, Cat's Cakes and Café offers a variety of specialty desserts made in-house, such as cakes, cupcakes, brownies, cookies and some drinks.
