    Potato and Onion Burekas
    Otniel L.

We pass by the Navad Bakery vendor on a weekly basis at the Farm Fresh Farmers market. To be honest, I do try to avoid seeing them at times because their pastry is just so irresistible and I try to watch my carb consumption. This bakery is a must try for anyone who loves bread, pastry and w/e else they sell. My go to is the Burekas with potato and onions, but the pizza bagel (probably not the actual name) is also delicious. We generally eat their pastry right away when it's room temp because we can't wait the car ride home. Today, we actually did wait to bring it back home and heat it. Heating these pastries just amplified the deliciousness!! It was mildly sweet, very flaky and had a well balanced flavor. The staff at Navad are always very nice, knowledgeable and great at what they do. I'd recommend this bakery to everyone. -ODL Connect with me! IG & YouTube: @AOEAT

You ever eat something and you just don't shut up about it? Given the opportunity you have to tell anyone who will listen what it is and where to get it. That's me, and I'm talking about their Jerusalem pretzels.

Honestly the best thing you'll ever eat! They're all good but the cinnabab is the standout winner!

    Chocolate babka

I'd tried the chocolate and cinnamon babka from Buns at the Ceremony tea shop in College Hill and loved it, so I was excited to go to the actual bakery itself! We trekked out to the address on GoogleMaps and were surprised by the lack of a storefront, as the address is actually the location of the industrial, wholesale bakery. Nonetheless, I was able to buy a chocolate babka and they were nice enough to throw in some extra ends from other babka types for free since we made the trek! Lovely people and amazing dessert!

Great babka. Yelp is making me say more, but that's really all I got. The babka is very good.

Server came over to give us waters, came back quickly twice to take drinks then food orders. We were told our appetizers would come out shortly. Then we waited. Our food was finally brought out (all together). After we got everything we wanted more drinks. No one came back to check on the food or refill our drinks. Food was good, not great. The dipping sauces we ordered for the pretzel were really subpar. Beer cheese that was split and congealed, and guac that was dark and slimy. Everything else was decent. The standout part of the meal was actually the soup of the day, clam chowder. Cashing out with a gift card was a pain. We were also not provided an itemized receipt. The amount seemed way higher than expected. Either way, payment required two different transactions so we could tip on a credit card. Not their fault, but also our original server must have left, and the one that took over apparently was the only one on the floor even as the dining room started to fill up. Had we ordered more drinks like we wanted, it would have brought us over our gift card amount so we could have paid the remained with a credit card. I don't think we would go back.

If you live in Warren and haven't been to GG's Pretzels yet, what are you waiting for?…read more The shop itself is pretty no frills, but honestly that's fine; this is grab-and-go food at its core, not a sit-down experience. What matters are the pretzels, and on that front they deliver. Don't let the words "soft pretzel" conjure up images of a soggy mall kiosk situation, because that's not what's happening here. These are large, beautifully baked pretzels with a rich, pillowy interior and a deep golden crust that has more in common with a brioche than anything you'd find at an Auntie Anne's. We grabbed the classic salted and the sour cream and onion. The classic with yellow mustard for dipping is simple, satisfying, and delicious. The sour cream and onion had a generous coating of seasoning that hits you immediately and keeps delivering all the way through. Then there's the chocolate dipped pretzel rod situation. The display case is genuinely dangerous to stand in front of. There lots of varieties, covering everything from S'mores to Cranberry Pistachio to Heath Bar Caramel. We picked up the lemon and the GG's D'Lite. The lemon is bright and snappy; a perfect balance of sweet and tart that I keep coming back to. As for the D'Lite, I was told it tastes like a Samoa. If that holds up, I may have a new favorite on my hands. They also carry products from a handful of other local businesses, which is a nice bonus if you're looking to pick up a little something extra. Go in, grab a soft pretzel, they are warmed up while you wait, and I dare you to try and leave without a few rods from the case. Lol Pro tip: this is a tricky spot on a busy road and at first glance, looks like parking is even trickier, but there is a decent sized parking lot in the back that you can pull into from the front left of GG's or from the side street, Homestead Ave., and GG's has both a front and rear entrance so don't let this intimidate you.

I had a hard time choosing between the Pretty In Pink strawberry lager and the Apple Pie Seltzer, but the PIP was actually all out (so sad!!) so I went with the seltzer. It had a strong almost artificial scent, but a much more mild flavor. It wasn't too sweet and had notes of cinnamon - very unique and drinkable, although I don't think I'd need more than one. I was surprised and pleased to see they have a food menu. There's a pretty big parking lot but it's very uneven and filled with pot holes, and people park a little...erm...creatively - you've been warned. On weekends I've seen the main and overflow lot fill up, and I couldn't even find street parking, so had to go elsewhere - plan accordingly. The tap room is big and has nice bathrooms that are always clean. The main seating option are long picnic table benches - my back personally cannot do a backless seat for more than an hour without being in pain, so take that into consideration. It's also kind of awkward to swing your legs into the seat every time you have to get up, especially if it's full and you're in the middle. I'd love this place so much more if it just got normal tables and individual chairs with backs! My favorite thing about this brewery is that it is dog friendly and there are usually multiple gorgeous furry faces here to oggle over.
