I love this place. The vibe, the flavors, and the service are usually great. The overall experience is excellent, except if you happen to be helped by a young Asian employee who seems unwilling to accommodate guests. If you ask for a little extra topping or to sample another flavor, she may roll her eyes or even refuse for no apparent reason. On my last visit, my friend politely asked if she could have a bit more chocolate crunch on top of her scoop, and she refused. We then asked another employee, who was happy to help without any issue. It felt completely unnecessary and left a negative impression. Hospitality and customer service are about making guests feel welcome, and unfortunately, that was not the experience we had with her. The rest of the team, however, has always been fantastic. I honestly don't understand why adding a little extra crunch to an ice cream would be such a big deal. Small gestures like that go a long way in making customers feel valued, and unfortunately, this interaction did the opposite. read more

Parking is pretty scarce at this location. It's mostly just street parking available that I can see. For such a warm summer night, it was a great coming in to a properly air conditioned establishment. This location has multiple seating spots and a large table. As with other locations, I appreciate the attention to service they provide. The staff have always been nice and willing to help with sampling their flavors. All three are great options, but personally I like to sorbets a bit more than the chocolate - less sweet and refreshing. The small cup (piccolo) holds up to two flavors, so mix-n-match, go crazy. I was so excited to see a new location open in Santa Monica. I have always loved this brand because everything is so clean, fresh, and genuinely delicious. The flavors are rich and full, making it difficult to choose. My favorite combination is the pistachio and the coffee, and it has become my regular choice. Finally checked out the new Brentwood location of my favorite gelato shop, and this might be my favorite location I've visited! Like all the other locations, this shop carries all of the signature flavors, as well as new seasonal ones such as tiramisu, which might be my new favorite! The employees were all so sweet and friendly, and they let us try as many flavors as we wanted without rushing us. Despite the shop always consistently having a line, it didn't feel too crowded with the layout of the store, with plenty of benchtop seating to enjoy the gelato inside. The line can get long, so plan ahead :) They offer sugar/waffle cones and you can get it dipped in pistachio or nutella if you would like! I got the crema torino (full hazelnut experience) in a waffle cone. It tasted like nutella! This was priced around $7.50, which I think is average. I noticed that this place opened, but only recently had the chance to try it out. The space is bright, spacious, and welcoming, but there isn't that much seating - just a few seats in the corner and maybe a few tables. The servers were friendly and offered good descriptions of the gelatos and gave me several samples. I was able to get a small size in a cup with two different flavors. The gelato is very creamy - texture is wonderful and flavors are bold. I ended up getting the hazelnut and the stracciatella flavors. Hazelnut was described to me as being like nutella in gelato form and she was not wrong! Wonderful hazelnut flavor mixes perfectly with the chocolate flavor. FYI: I came with my laptop as I wanted to do some work and they did say that they had free wi-fi, but there weren't any outlets, so not really "cafe-esque" read more

Toward the end of the night the gelato had the consistency of custard and the staff even advised it would not sit well on a cone, and recommended getting the cup instead. We each tried about two flavors, and I ended up getting a regular (3 flavors) with hazelnut, sweet cream, and pistachio. Also added the pistachio creme (would not get this again just because you can't really appreciate it much for its cost) and a waffle chip (a must). My favorite was the hazelnut, and the other two were close behind it! This place has the creamiest and most flavorful gelato. You can taste the fresh cream/milk in the sweet cream flavor, which was a nice surprise.
