So nice to have Back East BBQ and crew to come to our school event and provide some of their yummie food for the attendees. The crew were awesome and super friendly which made the whole event fun. My husband really enjoy his plate of BBQ and sides. It was a great deal for only $10! Again thank you for coming and supporting a local school. We can't wait to have you back for future events!

Stumbled upon this BBQ food truck at Stone Throw Brewery tonight! It was close to the end of their night and so we told them we were ordering for 6 people...he asked us if we would trust him with our order He put together 3 GENEROUS portions of food to be shared family style! We got *Beef Brisket, Black Bean and Corn Salad and Potato Salad *Mixed Greens and Hush Puppies *waffle Fries topped with Fry Sauce and Cheese! Everything was so delicious...the Beef Brisket so tender and so tasty! They also had many different sauces to add...we tried a little of everything...the one BBQ sauce was so good...tangy and great depth of flavour! We chatted with them a bit and they gave us a great deal on our family style plates! Thank you Back East for the great BBQ tonight we really enjoyed it and would highly recommend it...a great pairing with the Stone Throw Brewery!

It's been fun watching this "food cart" (though they don't even have a cart...yet) grow and mature over the past couple of years. It's clear this is a couple with a passion for BBQ, and (more importantly) a talent for pulling it off and creating some wonderful dishes. Their pulled pork is rich and delicious, and their brisket (which sells out quickly) is worth the trip. If you catch them on "$4 tapas" day it's fun to try several different small bites. And whatever you do, don't miss their hush puppies! I could eat those all night (and several times, I have)!

Brisket plate was a winner. Good amount of meat for the price; brisket was tasty and not dry. And Back East was not afraid to show off their BBQ skills, unlike some places where they hide bad BBQ with a load of surgery nasty sauce, the brisket stood up to the taste test by itself. read more

Attempted to order from this truck when it was at wander brewery on 3/19/17. No one was manning the truck, so after waiting around 5 minutes I walked away. Several other potential patrons had the same problem. Menu looked good though. read more

Delicious BBQ!! Had the brisquet and the pulled pork and the both are very flavorful and tender with the right amount of flavor. Their meat doesn't need the sauce but if you do, their home made sauce is amazing too. Highly recommend! read more

They catered my wedding last weekend and did a fabulous job! The food was delicious! We enjoyed the food that we tasted at the brewery from their truck but the food that was served at my wedding was even better! Service was prompt and well coordinated. Went hear Sunday evening at Wander Brewing and was disappointed. First off they ran out of chicken.. which this is the second time I have tried to eat here and the first time they had no chicken either... They also didn't warn me before ordering that they were out of BBQ sauce.... who sells BBQ food and doesn't have enough BBQ sauce. I gave them a good tip, but once I received my food and tried to get the BBQ sauce that's when I was informed. I would have not ordered the food if I would have known this in the first place. Pretty lame! read more

We are from Texas and spend summers in Washington/Vancouver,B.C area. We try to get to Bellingham a few times each summer and always enjoy the Saturday Farmers Market. At the Farmers Market there are MANY great selections of food and my husband discovered wonderful BBQ AT Back East BBQ. He convinced them to sell him an end piece when he ordered his BBQ beef SANDWICH. OMG... It was wonderful and we are from Austin , Texas and enjoy great BBQ IN AUSTIN, Lockhart and surrounding areas. Run by friendly owner/operators who treat you like welcome guests or returning friends. The BBQ is great! We love the brisket plate, where the BBQ can stand on its own, but if you're into sauces, they have several that are both unusual and delicious. The roasted corn and black bean salad is another favorite and we're told that their potato salad is to die for. read more

My wife, who is a southside Chicago girl and knows her barbecue, found this place a few weeks ago and raved about it. I spent a decade living in Texas, where barbecue approaches the status of a religion. I have pursued good barbecue from one coast to another, sometimes singlehandedly integrating neighborhoods in the process. The brisket we had tonight at Back East was as good as any I have ever had, and much, much better than most. Tender, flavorful, moist, not over-seasoned, nice smoke ring. Just wonderful. The sides were great as well. The waffle fries were very lightly battered and seasoned. Nice and crisp. Even the hush puppies, that often "meh" Southern side, were perfect. I tried some of the "not necessary" barbecue sauce, and it too, was very nicely done. This is not fancy food, just good food done right. We will be back on a regular basis! Kudos to Wander, as well, on the Pilsner and the Uncommon Common! read more

Back East BBQ is AMAZING! The boys and I have sampled their fare at the Bellingham Farmer's Market on Saturdays, Wander on Sundays, Elizabeth Station on Fridays, and at catered events and I have to say that everything we have tried has been delicious! My personal favorite is their gumbo, a nice dark roux and a great balance of ingredients and spices. Their brisket is the best I have ever had, hands-down. I wish I could get Danielle to divulge her secret for making it so moist and tender every time. No knife required on this brisket, and the rub is flavorful but not distracting. I ordered a platter of ribs for a 4th of July shindig last summer and everyone LOVED them, the only downside was the guests didn't leave me any leftovers! I can wholeheartedly recommend Back East BBQ, my advice would be to give them a shot whenever you have the opportunity. I promise you will not be disappointed! And if you are looking for a caterer in Whatcom County you simply can not do better, every one of the events I have attended has had a different, unique, and completely delicious menu! Great people run the show who obviously take a lot of pride in the products they offer. ENJOY!!! read more

We use a great dry rub so our BBQ does not even need sauce, but if you would like to add some, you can choose from our made from scratch small batch same sauces. Our team leader Chef Danielle Kazemzadeh hails from the East Coast and was trained by master chefs from the premier catering company in Washington D.C., Design Cuisine. While with Design, our chef had the opportunity work on parties with venues ranging from Foreign Embassies, The Library of Congress, The National Gallery of Art, The White House, and in the personal homes foreign dignitaries and leaders of industries. Time was also spent honing her skills at the newly opened Ritz Carlton Washington D.C. banquet kitchens. During her time there, she had the opportunity to work on lavish weddings, corporate retreats and political events where she pleasure to cook for former Presidents and Heads of State. I'm guessing their other roasts are better, and like I said the food and service were great for me. But if you drink decaf I really don't think this is your spot.

The potstickers also had lots of flavor and was the perfect texture with just the right amount of crisp. The donuts, oh wow. These are amazing! I would come back just for these alone! They were served hot and drizzled with a perfect amount of sweetened condensed milk, they were so good. Our food came out quick and hot and for how much food you get and the quality of food you get it's definitely worth it. We will be back!

We decided to grab our food to go since the weather wasn't cooperating, but everything still tasted amazing back at our hotel. We ordered vegetarian dumplings, vegetarian fried egg rolls, chicken dumplings, pork Chinese buns, and chicken rice noodle soup. Every dish was flavorful and fresh. The soup in particular had a rich, comforting broth with tender chicken, noodles, and cabbage. Portions were generous, prices were reasonable, and service was fast. The woman working the truck was friendly and welcoming, even with the wind and rain coming down. We will definitely be back next time we are in Bellingham. If the weather is better, we will stay and eat in the beer garden. This place is a great find.

With tip, my bill was over $8, but it was worth it. There's plenty of seating and two unisex restrooms in the back.

When you go to pay you have to go to the store next door down the hallway, so that was a little tricky at first to figure out. We love it here!

Just went to the Bite of Bellingham, waited 45 min in their line after a friend recommended them, and boy howdy it was worth it. The pork slider was smokey and rich with flavor, the brisket boat was even better, the best I have had outside Texas. Glad I listened to Danielle and did not put an sauce on any of it. Don't know where they got them cupcakes from, but hot damn a tasty treat as could be. read more

Gumbo was alright. The ingredients were fresh, but the taste was bland. Needed more seasoning. It was just an okay meal. Nothing special.
