I'm sorry when you tell someone the fish is terrible and they stand there and act like you don't know what you're talking about. Then leave the plate on the table like it's going to magically become edible .. there aren't many choices here and most definitely not a place I'd eat again. This was my first time trying Back Street Café in Muldraugh and it was great. I tried the Create Your Own Omelet and it was really tasty. Service was excellent and Michelle was super attentive, friendly, and helpful. I will definitely go again when I am in the area. I made a drive from Jeffersontown to try this café. read more

We ate here on a Friday at 6:30pm. The place had about 7 ya les seated and we were directed to a table in the bar area. 10 minutes later we were asked for drink orders. 10 minutes after that, we got menus. We had an 8:00 deadline to meet friends and almost walked out because we were starving and afraid we'd be late to the racetrack 15 minutes down the road. NOBODY in the restaurant got food for at least 45 minutes. We ordered the daily special, thinking it would be faster (country fried steak with mashed potatoes & Mac'n'cheese). The service is boarder-line standard here. Upon entering a employee didn't acknowledge that we were entering the restaurant and waiting to be seated. Upon being seated this girl (looks to be a daughter of one of the owners) approached us to take our order. It she was coughing with a deep heavy congested cough. She then proceeds to tell us "I'm not contagious". So my two friends ordered and then I ordered our meals. Our meals came in portions as we had to ask for the portions. We had to ask for our bowls of grits, ask for the side of cheese, ask for the side of bacon and our water. The food was really bland. The grits was drenched in.m butter so it made it feel more oily then flavorful. Upon finishing we had to chase the waitress down for our bill. This is a nice local off the freeway restaurant but they staff needs a bit more customer service training and attention to their surroundings. The overall restaurant was nicely kept, very clean and organize and very spacious seating. Prices are not ridiculous and you get what you pay for. Parking is spacious as well. read more

I don't typically give bad reviews but our first experience with this café, left a lot for improvement. To get drinks was extraordinarily long as we were only three tables busy when we came in one waitress we understand it can be busy but it took 45 additional minutes to get our food and we had a very very simple breakfast. All food was dry and overcooked. unfortunately looking at other reviews it seems like slow service is a norm day and night and it's a shot in the dark if the food is going to be high-quality. Suggesting management take a deep hard look at content of menu items as they're being served and speedier service on the front end. read more

First off the waitress was nice, the food on the other hand was not. I went with my family and the restaurant had every few costumers. I ordered the big breakfast for myself. When the food finally arrived it was cold and unseasoned. The cooks had cut my single biscuit in half because they thought that a half order of biscuits and gravy was a half of a single biscuit with gravy on it. In which the waitress had the correct it before serving. The biscuits and gravy, eggs, bacon, sausage and home fries where cold. I don't even eat half of what was brought to me. Told the waitress about the problem and she said she would talk to management. I also had her personally feel the sausage and her mouth dropped and said it was unacceptable on how cold our food was. We was only discounted $3.20 on our barely eatten and cold food. The cooks are poorly trained and should not been there preparing food and hopefully they do not get customers sick. I will NOT return to this restaurant. read more
