What a great place to stop for lunch! Just a few minutes off the highway (which was a plus for us since we were on a road trip), with parking right out front. Despite it being a Sunday afternoon, the food came out quickly after ordering. My husband ordered a burger, and I got a wrap, and both were delicious! The fries are seasoned in-house; would recommend giving them a fry. This little restaurant has so much good food, we came back twice! And they are open later, when the towns asleep. The roasted chicken panini and a Michigan dog is what I tried, and they were not only delicious but came with really tasty trimmings. Our experience here and review its on the desserts ONLY-We stopped by for a late dessert after dinner and we were happy we did! Both desserts were fresh and delicious. We also ordered 2 cups of coffee -these weren't the best. It wouldn't hurt to invest in machine to make a better coffee. (Maybe a Keurig machine and have available flavor coffee) We hope next time we get to try their food and drinks! It's nice to have a place that closes late in downtown Bardstown. Oh lord there mushroom Swiss is amazing. Then the Marcella sandwich is hug and delicious. The Mac and cheese is so creamy and delicious. Then seeing a Chicago hot dog and tiramisu I had to get one to take home. This is my new go to place when I'm in town or may have to just take the drive to eat here. What a fantastic restaurant! The general manager greeted us with "welcome family"! It made us feel very welcomed. He explained the procedure of ordering and it was open seating. We looked at the extensive menu and specials. We ordered the chicken pesto panini, onion rings, smoked baked beans, onion rings, and chocolate dipped cannoli. The couple with us ordered the bbq sliders, onion rings, smoked baked beans, and chocolate dipped cannoli. All the food was absolutely delicious. The service was fast and he was friendly, making the whole dinning experience wonderful. I highly recommend this restaurant. They even have a bar in the back. It is very family friendly! I've been here four times and think this place is decent for a late night cafe. The main dishes are good, but really small portions. I have tried all of the pasta salad side dishes, and they are really bland and very small portions. It's kind of expensive for what you get. They recently got their alcohol license, so that's a nice addition. I do feel bad for this place, because the horse carriage tour business next-door means you have to walk by an overwhelming knock you to the floor, smell of horse urine to get in the front door. Not sure there's anything the owners can do about that, but be aware you might want to hold your breath going in. read more

We're local and have been going to Marcella's regularly since it opened. Always on point with their food and service. We've tried most everything on the menu, which does routinely updates. Standout items are the sandwiches and burgers. Most of the menu items are unique recipes and creations of the owners/chefs. Bardstown has needed a place like this for a long time. read more

We stopped in for lunch this past Saturday. I had the Marcella's Club, it was great and I was only able to eat half. The wife had the sampler and it was enough food for two or three people, the pork nachos were enough to make a meal out of and everything was delicious. My daughter got three different sides, all very good and the soon to be son-in-law had a burger. It was huge and he said very good. The girl working was super friendly. We were hungry after seeing the Stephen Foster Story. There is not a lot open even on a Friday night in Bardstown. It was 10:30 pm and we saw the sign that said "Late Night Cafe". We were beyond impressed!! The fries were so fresh and tasty, and I am SUPER picky about fries. We ordered the cheeze fries with the yummy sauce on the side. It had a fantastic kick to it! The burger was perfect and the paninis were excellent!! Very fresh & tasty. The wine & beer selection is on point. After all the burbon-it was nice to drink a cold beer (29°) and very tasty pinot grigio. Highly recommend! We will make Marcellos a regular stop on our annual Bardstown trip! read more
