Back to Cuba is a blessing to Nippers Corner! When you first walk in you are greeted by a warm smile. Once seated, an Angel welcomes you with a familiarity as if you were a relative. Owner, Rebecca graciously takes her time in explaining the how and why of Cuban food. The menu was filled with so many options, I began to sing a Spanish prayer for help! We made our decisions: husband had the Cubano sandwich and I had the steak. We also added fries... hot and crispy! We enjoyed native drinks instead of sodas: mango and my husband had sour sop (an ancient medicinal and very tasty juice!) Rebecca enjoyed how much we enjoyed ourselves. The restaurant is decorated with a collection of Cuban pictures, drums and flags. We will return again and again! Hopefully our band will play there soon! Gracious Rebecca, Gracias!

My friend excitedly suggested we try Back to Cuba when she realized I'd never eaten here before. I'm so glad she did! The restaurant is welcoming with relaxed vibes. The owner was very kind when he stopped to check in on us. I'll definitely return! There's free parking outside in the shopping center lot. Love: cubano (fresh bread, flavorful pork); yucca; plantains (right balance of crispy yet tender) Like: tres leches (great treat)

Now I understand why this place is always packed... The food is unbeatable, and the service is excellent... but the atmosphere--the music, the vibe! It's like being transported to Cuba in an instant. Highly recommended! An unforgettable experience.

Zero condiments. See thru flavorless pickles. So disappointed.

I was SO excited to try this spot after coming home from a long weekend in the mountains. Cuban sandwiches are amongst my favorite; you just beat that greasy salty pork paired with mustard and pickles on crispy warm bread. After reviewing the menu, we wanted to try the ribs, but they were out by 5:30pm on a Monday. We had to settle on the churrasco. My husband ordered takeout which was ready quickly, in about 25 minutes. Even though they've been open for a few months now, they are still operating under a cash-only business model. A little inconvenient, but there is an ATM at Publix and a bank in the same plaza. The food looked delicious when we pulled it out of the bag, but upon my first bite I was immediately disappointed in the sandwich. I cut the roof of my mouth on the corner of the bread, which was so dry on top, it nearly crumbled into ash, but was somehow still soggy on the inside. I tasted NO pickles so I opened up the sandwich to see all of the toppings completely smooshed into the soggy upper part of the sandwich. On one half, there were only 2 pickles which were so thin you could see thru them. They tasted like water. There was no visible mustard on the sandwich which made it totally dry and inedible. I ended up deconstructing the toppings from the bread and eating just the ham and cheese rolled up. I gave the dry pork to my dog; at least somebody enjoyed it.

Service was great. Food was amazing. The shop was not busy when I came but food still came fast. Very cute decor with tons of homage to the island. They have live music some days but I didn't get the schedule. I ordered the most popular pork option that came with yuca and black beans. I scraped the bowl. The pork was flavorful and delicious. I also had an empanada which was good too. There is also a free bread which was great. My friends got fish and chicken dishes and they both loved it. Oh and free parking that is plentiful. Overall a great place and I can't wait to try again.

When I heard Back to Cuba Cafe was back in business after 5 years away, the fattest juiciest tear fell from my eye. I got the Friday special, Bistec Empanizado, which is basically seasoned fried steak (well done) with yellow rice and grilled plantains. Amazing. We also got the Pescado Salsa de Mango which came with tostones (smashed plantain) and tasted lighter. Also very good. They didn't allow substitutions for sides when I went (which sucked because their yellow rice is my fav) and it was also cash only.

    Churassco

Finally found great Cuban food in Nashville. Everything we ordered was delicious and the restaurant was clean and comfortable. I got the churassco and would recommend it along with the vaca frita. Empanadas were excellent as well. We finished with cafecitos, strong with great flavor. We will be back!

They reopened in the new location a couple weeks ago. It was cash only at the time. They didn't have credit card set up yet. Everything was absolutely delicious! Definitely going back again to try more.

Welp we done did it. We found them. The best effing fish tacos in Nashville live at Leche de Tigre…read more I didn't believe it at first. I've been around. I've had ceviche here... good ceviche, solid ceviche, ceviche that will do the job if you're suddenly hit with a lime-and-fish craving in East Nashville. If you want the real ceviche crown though, that still belongs to Limo Peruvian Eatery down the street (imho). But let's stay focused here, because what Leche de Tigre has mastered are tacos with fish inside of them. One visit a few weeks ago, in a moment of weakness, I ordered the fried rice. It was fine. Not bad, just... fine. I spent that entire meal staring longingly at Sam's plate of fish tacos like a man who knows he has chosen poorly. She offered me one bite. That bite haunted me for days. So today, sweet redemption. We returned. On a Tuesday. And by some cosmic alignment of fortune, it was Taco Tuesday. Normally $9 for two, today they were $6.99 for two. I don't know if this deal happens every Tuesday, but on this Tuesday, I felt blessed by Paco the god of the taco. And the tacos? These tacos were transcendent. Crispy fish that somehow stayed light, a burst of flavor that didn't just hit your tongue but rewrote your afternoon plans and maybe your life story? Tacos that made me question every other taco I've ever eaten. Nashville, I'm sorry. I didn't know it could be like this. Leche de Tigre sits inside The Wash, which is basically an outdoor food court for adults who still want to feel cool. If fish tacos aren't your thing (which begs the question: are you okay?), you can wander into Cuban food, Vietnamese, fried chicken, pho, and other distractions. But for the love of all that is crispy, order the fish tacos. Four stars for the menu as a whole. Five stars for the tacos. Average it out however you want, but I'm coming back for those tacos.

I will say, I ordered a veggie chaufa and it came with chicken in it, which was annoying for my vegetarian friend. Here's what we tried: -Veggie Chaufa: 9/10 - I'm normally not a fried rice fan but I loved the flavor of this one and it was the perfect level of richness. My only note is that ordering the veggie chaufa meant I should not have had chicken in it. The chicken that did come in it, though, was super moist and flavorful. -Clasico Ceviche: 8.5/10 - YUMMM!! So nice and vinegary, and the seafood was so fresh and tender. Highly recommend. -Pollada: 8/10 - The chicken leg was a bit dry, to be honest, but the potatoes and chimichurri were melt in the mouth good. A shame there was only a tiny bit of them. I also loved the side salad and the sauce that came with the dish, which when mixed with the plain rice, was delicious.

Tapas are priced $7-$20 à la carte, or you can order different tasting menu tiers based on what your group is hungry for. We ordered the $35 tasting menu (tapas only) and it was more than enough food! We tried the whipped sheep cheese, flank steak, garlic mushrooms, shrimp, patatas bravas, salmon, and more! We also ordered a pitcher of red sangria for the table that was delicious. The incredible food and the attentive service made Barcelona the perfect meal for a group of old friends to catch up.
