    Backcountry Gourmet. Breakfast burritos.
    John S.

August 27, 2023. Sunday. Breakfast. Appearances are deceptive. This food truck, at the back of 11th Street Station, is small and hidden by an old Conoco truck. My wife and I ventured here because of all the great breakfast burrito reviews on Yelp. We love finding spots that are possibly better than homemade. The cashier accommodated us, because they were about 30 minutes from stopping burrito sales. I ordered a bacon breakfast burrito ($12) with cheddar cheese, bacon, chipotle sour cream, hashbrowns, eggs and green chile. My wife ordered the pork belly breakfast burrito ($12) with pork belly, hashbrowns, pepperjack cheese, eggs, chipotle sour cream and green chile. Our burritos were ready in 20 minutes and our green buzzer vibrated. These were very large burritos. They toasted the tortilla on the outside, a nice touch. Green chile had absolutely no heat and the burrito could have used more bacon. Other than that, no complaints for size and taste. The chipotle sour cream went perfectly with the other ingredients. All the ingredients were fresh and the eggs were real, not powdered. My wife enjoyed hers and definitely said it was one of the best breakfast burritos she's ever had. Hit this spot up for a filling, top notch burrito. We had excellent service and left full.

We decided to venture downtown to try out the establishments based on reviews. I was delighted to find the food trucks surrounding the watering hole! There was live entertainment, drinks, and the ambiance was great for an outdoor evening! I really was enjoyed the sliders and the fries that we had. I also ordered a margarita pizza from one of the trucks. Lets start with the sliders and fries.. BBQ BACON CHEESEBURGER SLIDER ($6) Grass Fed Beef/Cheddar Cheese/Bacon/Onion Ring/Tangy BBQ Sauce/Chipotle Ranch/Lettuce/Tomato. This is a delicious slider that we shared! Had a great flavor with a nice hot bun. Everything melted in my mouth .., great combination. FILET MIGNON SLIDER ($7) Blue Cheese Crumbles/Spinach/Roasted Garlic Aioli/ Caramelized Onion Now this was worth the wait! I loved the flavor with each bite. The bun had a different texture from the bbq slider but it was still great. Now the truffle fries!!!this was a huge portion and I enjoyed the crispness and the freshness of our service! Now for the pizza..this was a disappointment..I felt the pizza dough was not cooked because there were parts where it was still doughy. Maybe a couple more minutes in the oven would have been better. Overall great place to sit down relax and listen to the live entertainment. I would definitely venture back downtown for the sliders and truffle fries in the future.

I had a filet mignon slider that had blue cheese and garlic aïoli on it. It was pretty darn good. I must say cute little outside area with food trucks. Nice when you come with friends because then there's so many choices..

First the 11th Street Station concept is an absolute winner. Everyone was able to have something different. The weather was perfect for patio dining. The filet mignon slider and truffle fries were absolutely to die for. The meat was tender and delicious, the onions and bleu cheese added to the perfection.

Backcountry has the yummiest sliders! There's a good variety to choose from but I went with the BBQ bacon and pork belly! Both were delicious, but I'd probably lean toward the BBQ bacon if I only could pick one. The pork belly was pretty fatty in some places but had great flavor. I also tried the truffle fries and loved them! Service was super fast which is a huge win for me. I especially love where this is located--11th street station. There was live music to enjoy, plenty of fun outdoor seating, and just an overall great atmosphere. I will for sure come back!

We just had the absolute BEST breakfast burrito of our lives. We mixed the pork belly and bacon and shared it because they are huge. Pictures don't do it justice, it's delicious we will be back for sure next time we're in town.

For those Pride & Prejudice fans out there, in the words of Mr. Collins, "Many years since I have had such an exemplary breakfast burrito." My husband and I were looking for a substantive, to go breakfast. Admittedly tried a couple bakeries with no success. Came across Backcountry doing a quick breakfast Burrito search on yelp and it did not disappoint. The Green Chilis in the burrito really added to the flavor and it was definitely hearty enough for us to share. Legitimately excellent!

Delicious food at 11th street station which has great ambiance. Only complaint is I ordered the pork belly slider and got the filet mignon slider. I didn't realize till I had taken a bite and it was delicious so I kept it.

    Spinach breakfast burrito

The best breakfast burritos I've ever had. Whenever I'm in Durango I come here for breakfast & always order the Spinach breakfast burrito but my friends have tried the others & raves about them just the same.

What really topped it off was the service. Everyone I interacted with was kind, courteous, welcoming, and genuinely seemed happy to help. We had found ourselves on a waitlist at some "fried stuff with cheese" restaurant down the street, which nothing at all looked appetizing to me so I vetoed. Got on Yelp, found 636 well rated nearby and the menu looked wonderful. Got here to a healthy amount of patrons and warm ambiance/atmosphere. Service was great despite me being an annoying tourist. I tried every dish we had plus the hot rolls, which have a buttery pimento dip. Everyone agreed that the food was spectacular. Of all the things to love about 636 (which there are many), my favorite is that when I mentioned our anniversary to the lady, she said "Oh! I'll get the anniversary confetti!" Hilarious and endearing. I love Durango already, and 636 made such a great impression. Thank you!

We were seated on the patio and it took quite a while for our server to greet us. Once she did, she brought water and took our drink order. She returned with our drinks and said she would be back to take our food order. We had plenty to talk about while waiting, but she repeatedly walked past our table to attend to other tables without stopping. Eventually, I had to stop her and let her know we were ready to order. My wife and our friend's wife both ordered a pasta dish with sliced steak and spinach. My friend had a salad with salmon and a bowl of soup, and I ordered the filet with potato lasagna and spinach. As the evening went on, it became breezy and chilly. I asked another server if the patio heater could be turned on, and someone came over right away to help, which we appreciated. When our meals arrived, everything looked excellent and tasted very good. The food was definitely the highlight of the evening. Unfortunately, our server only stopped by our table once during the entire meal to check on us and it was lien she was in a rush to leave to table. We spent a long time waiting to see if she would ask whether we needed anything or if we were finished. It wasn't as though she had to go out of her way to reach us--she walked past our table numerous times while serving her other tables. Because of the lack of attention, I once again had to get her attention to let her know we were finished and ask for a dessert menu. I ordered the Dubai Chocolate dessert to go after she highly recommended it. Unfortunately, it did not live up to the description once I had a chance to eat it. The chocolate flavor was very mild, and the crunchy layer on the bottom was not particularly enjoyable nothing like a Dubai Chocolate. Overall, the food was excellent and deserving of praise. However, for a fine dining restaurant where both the food and drinks come at premium prices, the service fell well short of expectations. Great meals can make for a memorable evening, but attentive service is an important part of the fine dining experience, and unfortunately that was missing during our visit.

My appetizer was a tasty peppery kick calamari dish. The kick wasn't too bad for you non spicy folks. The dish was light and crispy just how great calamari should be. Then came the branzino. I do not eat the skin of fish typically, but this dish was to tasty and the skin was the perfect level of crispy. The branzino and the wine went so well together, I was eating my desert early. The flavors popped in my mouth. At this point I was done but my amazing waiter Tyler did ask if I wanted to see the desert Menu and since I thought if the rest of the food was this delicious why not. I ended up ordering the white chocolate cheesecake. OH MY GOD, it melted in my mouth. The cheesecake wasn't overly rich but it was smooth, definitely fresh. The berries and the whipped cream balanced it out and that cheesecake didn't stand a chance. As a foodie from Las Vegas, I have been to a numerous amount of amazing restaurants. I cannot express my surprise at finding seasons here in Durango. This is definitely going to be one of my go to restaurants every time I visit this beautiful town. From the moment I walked through the door to the time that I left the service the food and the ambience was simply perfect. I highly recommend this place for anyone who enjoys great service and even better food. Take a bow Chef, you have a new fan. From Vegas with love!

We also split two orders of large fries. My partner got a root beer and I got a cherry cream soda. Everything was delicious! It was absolutely worth the wait. My burger was more towards well done than medium well, which is something I see a lot and I think I'm just going to start ordering medium any time I get a burger now. It was juicy and delicious, and the rosemary garlic aioli was delicious! The fry sauce was also some of the best I've had, and we left the cup scraped clean. The fries tasted fresh and were well-cooked. My partner said the root beer was great and my cherry cream soda was delicious. I had gotten a small and I was contemplating going back to order another in a large, it was that good! All of the employees we interacted with were super friendly. It was a bit of a struggle to find a table outside just because of the holiday weekend, but we found a perfect table that fit all of us under a tree. We took a little walk by the pasture and read the info signs after dinner which was a great way to end the evening. This place is fantastic and well worth the wait! It is pretty expensive (we paid about $146 after a 20% tip) so it may be better for special occasions, but it is all so fresh and pure that it's very much worth the price you pay. My partner and I don't live in Durango but his family does, so I'm hopeful we will be back the next time we visit.
