We are here once again at Backside Brewing in Roseburg Oregon. Tonight we have the Works Pizza and my wife had the Margarita Pizza. Both of the pizzas are amazing. Fresh make and wood fired. It is well worth the time and money. I'm having a Backside Brewing Axmen Red Ale and my wife is enjoying a really well prepared Mojito. The Axmen Red Ale is outstanding, and the Mojito is expertly prepared. Both of the beverages are very good. Over all I highly recommend trying this establishment. So we were on a road trip and we wanted BBQ and we googled it and they sent us here. Which is disappointing because they do not have BBQ. But we did get a little mix of what they do have - pizza, sandwich, salad - and it was all good. The building is open air which is way too hot and the water dispenser never worked even after telling them twice, but it seemed like a generally cool place. read more

Backside Brewing was brewery we squeezed in coming back from California and we stopped by Roseberg for lunch. The taproom is very spacious but the place also seems to be very popular as quite a line developed that we managed to get ahead of barely to the front bar to place orders. I got their Cookies N Cream Stout which I liked fairly well. It did resonate it's namesake fairly well but wasn't too rich that it wasn't manageable. I also ordered a small portion of their root beer, something I've been meaning to try more often when going to breweries as their root beer is often craft made just like their alcoholic beer. This was a pretty good root beer. Not as bitey as some and more sweeter, perhaps a bit more creamy in flavor. Nice stop this proved to be in Roseburg and a brewery worth checking out if you are visiting or passing through. read more

I came here on the recommendation of our hotel front desk. Beers were great, the vibe was awesome, with a nice fire pit outside, and a great interior, and what I think may have to be the world's longest shuffleboard table. The food was good but not outstanding. The chicken wings were only OK kind of too big and too moist and not crispy and we didn't even like the mango-habanero sauce either, which had basically zero bite. The grilled sandwich was quite good but basically a giant cheese thing with a few pieces of salami and pepper mixed in amongst the cheese. My cardiologist wouldn't of been happy. The menu is a little limited amount other things they are missing a burger which would be a very nice addition. Really just one or two plates that were something other than sandwiches or pizza would be great as well. It looks like they have a nice little stage for live music which would definitely be fun here. We went to brew pubs like this in Roseburg and while we love them both we preferred Two Shy for first place and this one second read more

Amazingly friendly local brew pub with a great selection of craft beers and a nice selection of pub fare (including wood fired pizza). The beer quality is impressive and they offer beer flights - I recommend a flight for sampling. Service was some of the most pleasant I've experienced anywhere. We probably sampled half their tap selection before making our choices and the server was more than willing to continue. This is a great local place to try. read more

Insanely good scratch made cocktails - they use real juice and make it to order. I highly recommend the whiskey sour. Their Caesar salad dressing is one of the best I've had at any place including fine dining... Perfect balance between the lemon and the rich saltiness of the anchovies. I did not care for their pizza crust, it was soggy and didn't have the chew or texture of other places I have had pizza at before. I also found that there sauce on their pizza was wanting and it was too heavy on the cheese which I prefer to taste more sauce. Toppings were average in quality and flavor. read more

We try a flight at every new brewery we visit. Our favorite sample is the pint we order. We also had our growler with us ready to fill. Unfortunately after trying a flight of six, there wasn't one beer we wanted to order. We both ordered a pizza excited by the wood-fired pizza oven. However the pizza was average in quality of ingredients and crust. We did appreciate the outdoor seating but there was a strange vibe to the place - a big political sign when you enter and employees inside not wearing masks when there is a state mandate to wear masks indoors. New to the neighborhood, we found this unpretentious brew pub to be a hidden gem! Had a big lunch so wanted to stop in for just a quick sip of their brews. A nice mixed array of local beers, wines and refreshing drinks will to please everyone. Appreciated the all-female, well-managed & friendliest staff too. We were tempted to order the warm homemade pretzel balls balls that kept flying out of the kitchen but wanted to see the full Monty bar bite menu. To our surprise, there was a quality brew bite selection including wood fired pizza, toasty sandwiches and yummy looking salads. We split their Backside Burger & fries with the freshest locally raised beef cooked to perfection. We had a Pilsner and stout - both delicious! We'll definitely be back! While in the area to visit the Safari park we wanted to find a local brewery. Since we were close to Roseburg we thought we would look around. Backside came up on my list so we decided to check it out. It was raining so we wanted to find a place where we could sit inside. We pulled up to and saw a nice outside area to relax and have a beer. (Not this day.) There was a lot of seating inside and a couple of big screen tvs to watch a game. There were quite a few long tables to share and some booths. There was also a small stage as we walked to the bar to order. We were greeted right away and ordered a flight and a pizza. I liked the Burnt Mountain Stout and the Axeman Red the most. Good fired pizza and nachos. Had the gluten free option for the pizza that did not disappoint and the portion sizes were generous. Had a snafu with our order being kept as one. Half delivered took our number off the table and then it was reassigned so when the rest of our order came out it had an adventure to other tables before finding us. Um, Where do I begin. We came for the bloody Mary bar, it's extremely overpriced and I have had way better bloody Mary's that were house bloody Mary's. Went shopping today (Friday) at Sherms and met the two ladies that were offering a beer tasting there. The one doing the tasting told me about the bar and they had live music tonight. So, off to Backside Brewery to check it out. Lots of parking, on the property, and plenty of street parking. Well lit outside area as it was dark when I arrived at 7:40 PM, +/- a few. I walked into the little lobby area, looked around. Then I stood there looking in for a minute. Then I stood there, literally for 4 more minutes, not a few seconds / not a long time, just about 4 minutes (standing there like I was waiting in line, but there was no line). There was a $3.00 cover charge and a man standing there who (I guess) checked people coming in and took the money. And here is why the 1 Star. He was facing into the bar and never turned around after I entered. Never faced the door. And, he never got off his cell phone, looking at pictures (I was that close). He never said anything to me, completely ignored me. He was so entranced with his cell phone pictures, never acknowledged me, even after standing four feet away for 4 minutes. A woman employee walked past me and never said anything. So, I left. Now. The place was busy, I'm sure the beer and the band were good (they were on break when I was there). But, to have the 'greeter' completely ignore the people coming into the bar, and not get off his cell phone for just about 5 minutes. That's 1 Star service. Will I try it again, most likely, and will up my Star rating... Depending. Now, some of you may think giving a 1 Star rating when I didn't even go in is unfair. Well. It's not up to me to do his job and acknowledge my entrance, to ask him to get off his phone. But after 39 years in the food and beverage industry (restaurants, resorts, event centers), I'm pretty picky about service. Thank you for your time. read more

Not fancy but hey it's a brewery and a very nice one at that. Stopped in Thursday around 4 to sit inside at this almost empty, but cool, clean and inviting brewery.
