So I was told to go to this place from a friend because he said it was one of the best places he's been to. So I thought why not? I took my girlfriend down there to try it out. When we arrived we were welcomed right away by the more than courteous staff. We loved all the sports memorabilia they had on their walls and the numerous amounts of TV's that were there. We grabbed our seats in the bar section and were looking through the menu through the variety of items they had listed. I had the "Nacho Mamma Burger" and she had the St. Louis Ribs I was shocked on how quick they were able to give us our food. We ordered our food and it seemed as if in no time at all we had our food in front of us. So if you're starving and need food right away, you won't have to wait long. While we were there the Restaurants was pretty packed, but the staff were on their toes. They were able to give me a refill before I even finished my drink. The owner of the place was there working at the bar and he was a nice guy to talk to, he told us he's been in the restaurant business for a long time. So whatever he knows, he's doing it right by what I can see. When I got my meal, I had a smile on my face, my burger was pretty big and there were lots and lots of fries there. I almost got full on my fries before I even attacked that monster of a burger. My girlfriend loved her Tender St. Louis Ribs. Which surprised me more than anything because she's very picky on how her ribs are. We were just more than pleased with the great food and great service. My girlfriend was so pleased with her food, she bought her self a Brisket sandwich to take to lunch for work the next day. I read the review by Ann S. and I must say she completely underplayed this place. She must be crazy to not have enjoyed this delicious place. This really is a great place to bring friends and family. The price of their food in my opinion is pretty cheap compared to other places such as Applebees, The Ram, and other restaurants. This is one of my top places to eat now. We have been there three times and this is now our favorite restaurant in Canby. The food is great the servers are all excellent and the drinks are STRONG. It is a family friendly place in the main restaurant, plenty of seating options and the service is great even when they are very busy. In the back there is a bar, and the Happy Hour there has great discounts on drinks and mini menu items that are just as delicious as the food in the main dining room. So far we have had margaritas there and a drink called The Cheerleader But they also have a big selection of beers and wines. They have menu items to please almost anyone, great appetizers, great desserts! Their burgers are great, as are their wraps ad their fish and chips. The kids menu portions are also very generous and varied. They have a great selection of appetizers including these delicious soft pretzels. There are salads, wraps, pasta, burgers, sandwiches. Came to the pub & grill and was surprised to find a change in owners. Very excited to know Ken & Laurie (Lil Cooperstown) were the new owners. We each ordered a deluxe burger with the works (I've forgotten the name of it). It had bacon, jack cheese, onion rings and bbq sauce on a 1/2 lb patty inside a toasted and fabulous bun. The menu was interesting and hard to choose from. The wait staff were very invested in making sure we were well taken care of and prices were middle of the road ($10). Me and my wife came here the very first day they opened. We could tell they were a little scattered. Fries weren't cooked fully, food says "smoked" but they used liquid smoke (you could taste it), kids meals were outrageously expensive and skimped us with like 8 french fries and 2 chicken nuggets... For our meal, my wife ordered a salad, I ordered a pizza, and we shared a side of Cajun tots with their housemade Ranch. Everything was enjoyable and hit the spot for a casual, satisfying stop. We'd happily return when we have more time to take in the full experience. A few things we've noticed over the years from our experiences with McMenamins: Many of their establishments introduce you to pieces of history you never really knew existed. There's often a surprising depth to the stories behind the properties, and even a quick visit can leave you wanting to learn more. Their beer can be very tasty and original, with a variety of offerings that feel thoughtfully crafted and true to their brand. As for the food, it generally lands in the realm of upscale bar fare, or perhaps bar food that wants to be upscale. Most menus are fairly similar from location to location. Don't get me wrong, the food is good and enjoyable; it just sometimes feels like it's presenting itself as something a bit more elevated than it actually is. The pricing tends to follow that same pattern, occasionally feeling a bit ambitious for what's being served. Service can be great, but it can also be hit or miss, and it's wise to be prepared to wait a little longer than expected at times. That said, the atmosphere and grounds at many of their locations are truly outstanding. You can wander the properties for quite a while at many of their locations and still not see everything. The level of detail throughout, both inside and out, is often absolutely amazing and is what really sets McMenamins apart.
