Stopped here after a long walk with friends. Our server "Emily", was so sweet and got absolutely everything right! We all had something different where liquid refreshments were concerned, and she delivered everything with a smile. Our food items were 100% wonderful and varied, from hamburgers, to a Cuban sandwich, a really yummy looking salad, and my turkey reuben, they were all really good. Lunch with my long lost nephew. We reconnected over burgers and beer. Burger was cooked exactly like I expected. And sandwich was made to order. I cannot describe adequately how wonderful our experience was at Wankers! Everything was amazing: the service, drinks, food, music, decor nothing disappoints. The staff was very energetic and attentive every single one of them. The enormous "regular " nachos with at least if not more than a cup of guacamole and the perfect amount of every other topping (sour cream, real cheese, chopped onion, green onion, tomatoes, carnitas, jalapeño, black beans) was our appetizer and we got the prime rib special to share. We brought home a 4 pound doggy bag! Our prime rib was cooked perfectly even the grilled vegetables were delicious and again cooked perfectly! We also ordered the loaded baked potato and it was as you can guess cooked perfectly with just the right amount of toppings. I don't think we even touched the salt and pepper shakers! I do not frequent this restaurant often so when I come in the special is usually different. One time I ordered a burger with a jalapeno popper of the special menu and thought it was really good. Now about a year or two later I have gone back and asked if I could still get that burger even though its not on the menu. My waitress goes back to ask the chef. She comes back with the menu from that special and ask if that was the burger and that they can make it. I do not know how often they bring that back but I was shocked to see the flyer. We took our daughter here, a place we've enjoyed in the past, for lunch and some drinks on her 21st birthday. the bartender was extremely rude and refused to take her id because it had a small crack. Fred and I found this place just off the freeway and tucked away. Once Fred and I stepped inside we were welcomed by and overwhelming amount of decoration. So many things to look at and loads of history in those walls. The ciders and beer on tap were an awesome variety and those jalapeño poppers with fries were amazing! Halibut tacos were excellent with plenty fish portion (couple small fillets each). Great flavor and seasoning. Good beans and rice. Excellent mild salsa (red, which was spicier) and okay hot salsa. The hamburger patty looked like it had fallen onto the ground and then puzzle pieced back together into the bun. My wife said her blue cheese burger was a little too "blue on the cheese". wanker's corner is everything a place called wanker's corner should be. knick knacks everywhere, a menu that is disturbingly large (i'm talking like cheesecake factory level), and the worst cup of coffee known to mankind. I went for lunch on a random monday and this place was still husslin' and busslin' with folks over the age of 70... that tells you that you're home. i was pleasantly surprised that the food was at the quality that it was. i had a melt that was borderline life changing. service was very attentive and pleasant. this is an authentic dive bar experience, but raises the bar in its menu being above average for the genre of food. would highly recommend for anyone looking for a spot to get their dive on. We used to live in Wilsonville and always enjoyed the food at Wankers. We were happy to have the chance to eat here again since we were in the area. The food and service were good, they always have been. We were disappointed that there are now political undertones (flags, signs, etc.) in our faces. I'm sure everyone would agree that when you're out for a lunch you don't need to be reminded of the divisiveness that we are dealing with in our country. I ordered before I noticed a huge "DON'T TREAD ON ME" flag. So I was stuck. I had a grilled chicken sandwich that was mediocre at best. They use the cheapest most tasteless buns on their sandwiches, you might as well order without bread. The fries were hot and good. The service was great. I was severely disappointed with this establishment. I ubered here to meet my best friend for her birthday, along with her friend. I arrived approximately 25 minutes before they did (Ubered from Canby to Wilsonville). I ordered a beer while I waited for my friends to arrive. Shortly after my friend and I arrived, we each ordered another drink each and closed our tab. After closing our tab, we walked across the street to a neighboring bar. I ordered a green apple white claw. We finished our drinks and we decided to walk back to Wankers. When we walked in and approached the bar, the same bartender that we had prior (Jennifer), began shouting at us that we were not allowed in due to "bringing in outside alcohol into the bar". Apparently there was a green apple white claw can that had been previously left at the bar. She tried to blame ME for leaving this. I tried to explain to her that this was not the case, that I had came in to the bar and sat at a COMPLETELY different location from where this beverage was supposedly placed, but she did not give me the time of day, and continued to force us out of the bar. Coming from someone who has NEVER been In this type of situation before, I was mortified and extremely offended. I just have to say, if you are ever here and see a Bartender named Jennifer, walk the other way and spend your money elsewhere. Is it fair to judge a place based on what it once was? This is a tough one for me. The original reviewer, Evan K, described the original Wanker's Corner well. It opened in the '30s and was a neighborhood kinda dive bar filled with Australian and Americana memorabilia. When I first moved to the area, my house was a mile from the original Wanker's Corner location. This was one of the first places I went out to eat and drink and one of the reasons I quickly fell in love with Oregon and made it my home. Now Evan talks about how courteous they were to their patrons, but what I remember was the sass. They were known for being pretty in your face with their patrons. Kind of the gum chomping, "Yeah, what do you want?" attitude, not unlike Escape from New York Pizza. But it was clearly all in fun. My recollection is that the owners had some sort of lease dispute and were forced to find new digs and chose the Wilsonville location. So it went from an old ranch style building in the country to a strip mall in Wilsonville. But, all the decor made the trip. The new location is filled to rafters with movie posters, kangaroos and all sorts of kitsch. Some things have stayed the same. You can still throw peanuts on the floor (inside) and the menus are printed on newspaper. Went there tonight with a large group and sat around one of the large wood tables. The place was filled and it had a fun vibe happening. Tonight it was all about drinks. Now this is really a beer kinda place, but I guess I was feeling a little fancy and ordered their special version of a Lemon Drop with Chambord; very tasty. My good friend, who knows her way around a bar and has exceptionally good taste, ordered a Dirty Martini with Grey Goose. She floored me when she said it might be the best one she's ever had. I usually come here for lunch since I work in Wilsonville. My favorite item on the menu is the Thai-Foon Salad. The majority of their menu contains burgers, sandwiches, melts and wraps. They also serve an absolutely massive nacho platter, loaded with the works. I would say most people come here to eat mass quantities, drink a beer and be merry. There is also a pool table and a large bar area. Outside they have a patio, which is a great spot for lunch in the summer or a hot August night. The funny part is that there is a city ordnance in Wilsonville, so you can throw your peanuts on the floor inside, but not outside. So what can I do? I had an absolute blast there and am happy there is a place like this in Wilsonville. But, I can't help but be a little misty about the past. The servers here are downright perky. The first time I visited the new location I started being a bit of a b*tch (on purpose because it is so not like me) to the waitress and I thought she was going to cry. Friendly service and great comfort food! Kooky outback/mountains decor with happy hour feel (pool table, electronic music station, bar, occasional live music). Booths and tables. Booths are plank so not terribly comfortable if you're planning on staying a few hours. Menu is very diverse with many options/something for everyone. I don't do this but. I met my daughter for lunch yesterday. We were seated across from the waitress station. While waiting for our food a guy got sick or coughing into the sink near the computer pop machine cups Togo containers. It lasted about ten minutes although the bartender and waitress were there talking to him and helping him it was pretty gross. What bothers me most is all they did when he was done was replace the paper towels he used. No disinfectant cleanup or attempt to clean up in any way. And of course we got our food right after this happened. The cherry on top is he returned to the area and got his own Togo container. I like this place and will not go back for a long time if ever.
