This place is a really cool concept. Seriously - I love the fact that it has an outdoor feel, but it's really indoors. Plus all the TVs make watching sports very easy! BUT....I've been here 4 times...1 time I had bottle service and that time I had great service, because, of course. The other 3 times? Took over 30 minutes for a waiter to even talk to us after we sat down at a table (and I am pretty aggressive if it starts taking too long). Earlier today we went and finally just left after not getting any service for over 30 minutes. If you want to just walk in somewhere and have a good time, Backyard is NOT the place to do it! Right off the bat you couldn't tell who was working there all employees had regular shirts on. And no distinguishing uniform. No one greeted us for 10 minutes when we finally got to sat down we waited 15 minutes and no one had came to service at that point we got up and left. They clearly were shortstaffed and didn't pay any attention to us.. disappointed...For a new place it should care about quality and serving its customers . Plus it was overpriced mostly the alcohol was over price for the service and atmosphere and area it's located in. I would give Backyard zero stars if I could. As any normal person who is done with their plastic disposable cup, I threw mine away. The GM walked up to me "huffing and puffing" and told me what I had done. I said I threw my drink away. He got pissed and began to talk to me like I was a peasant. Okay- this place is super fun and drinks are great, but the food is extremely overpriced, the portions are very small. We got the fried pickles and onion rings (during happy hour they were 5) and they'd normally be 10 I believe! It was very small, as in there was probably 5 pickle chips and 5 onion rings. If I could give 0 stars I absolutely would. For starters, there's a parking lot directly outside, $20 for parking. Circled a couple of times, got a spot. A big ass poster of a dog which says all of the **positive** attributes of the establishment with a point indicating dog friendly. No asterisks, no fine print. DOG FRIENDLY. We traveled from out of state and did extensive research on places we could go to have our dog enjoy her vacation as much as we were. Yelp was our friend. LIKE I MENTIONED we paid for parking, got into line, ready to enter with our 10 lb, well behaved, ready to show the town her Dallas Cowboys cheerleading outfit, only to be DENIED. WHY? Oh, they're not DOG FRIENDLY after 9 pm. No fine print was indicated anywhere. What happens to the patrons that are already inside the dog friendly establishment and the clock strikes 9, I wonder. I advised we already paid for parking - not their problem. Overall. Didn't even step foot inside and quite frankly I'm fine with it. The customer service and false advertising indicated that this place is not a place I'd like to support anyhow. read more

Cool ambiance, staff is super rude (specifically front desk staff and the door man too. I was told over the phone that they could reserve a spot for 20 people no problem, but when I got there the girl at the front laughed at me when I mentioned I had a reservation "from who? Daniel?! LOL".... seriously. They won't let you split tickets more than 4 ways, we have a group of 20 that would've ordered and paid for items in a staggered fashion, but they insisted we'd need to put $1000 on one card and figure it out on our own or have everyone pay cash. I get it, but it's such an inconvenience. Modern technology now allows for splitting of checks in many other establishments. :) so far it's left a bad taste, but I'm willing to give the food a chance. read more

So today is St. patrick's day and Backyard turned me down because i had on the same NIKE sweat pants that i wear every week on whiskey Wednesday. I was turned down with a group of friends from Houston Texas that wanted to experience the night life in Deep Ellum. My tabs at this place are normally $100 plus. I do not think that it is fair for you to accept someone in a certain dress code on other days of the week and then on special events you make a dress code. When St. Patrick's Day is over are you still going to have those same under age customers in line? Maybe you guys should think about your loyal customers over the long lines of under age people. read more

4 stars for the service. We brought our 4 legged furry son with us as we randomly decided to make it a day of bar hopping with him. The door guy checked our ID and directed us to a doggy door on the side that we could enter with the backyard directly with our fur baby. I loved that they actually maintain within health codes. Our waitress was wonderful and sweet. Other food runners came by to check on us as well. I got the wings and waffle fries. I got the wings in original hot sauce, but it tasted garlicky. I would probably try a different flavor. Fries were amazing! The environment is a fun spot with lots of outdoor games and plenty of seating. Super fun chill spot for a Saturday! read more

First of all- D was amazing as our server! She greeted my dog and I in at the back and was the most fun and professional waitress! I came here for the first time on opening game day of the NFL season and even though it was busy we were seated right away, our appetizer and entrees came out piping hot, and there were huge screens making the game easy to see from anywhere. read more

Came here to celebrate a 30th birthday. Put our name in for a table and got one fairy quickly. Once seated we waited for 30 minutes without a server. I talked to the hostess and she said she would be sure to send someone over. Another 10 minutes went by without a server. Not once did anyone apologize to us.
