Location Government data strict-near downtown presbyterian church and hotels. Parking Be alert for local street spits. Garages offer e charging-free! Atmosphere Cool local bar-pool tables, to quote our server," I was a regular before I started working here" Seating Bar, high tops, tables, great for groups Service AWESOME!!!! Menu Wide variety of beverages, appetizers, salads, sandwiches, burgers. We had the steak salad Caesar sandwich with sweet potato fries. The fries were sub par but the sandwich was fantastic-fresh, flavorful, and just as recommended-great. Summary Great service, terrific menu, great food! Our new fav downtown spot! Love it! Our new fav downtown eatery. Karaoke on Friday-starts late-@930. Love the food

Not good. Much of my meal went to waste. I went here out of convenience (staying in the hotel). The food was over priced and not good. Chicken sandwich's breading was soggy and chicken wasn't seasoned. The tot's "spicy aioli" was sweet and not good at all. We only took a few bites of the tots and just threw the rest out. The wings were decent. Fries were good. Service was good. Very noisy. I went for a meal, so the unnecessarily loud music was annoying. If you were going for beers and are going for that type of vibe, you might not be bothered by the noise level.

There's not to many sport bars or bars in the area so we came here. The staff was really nice, though and I was presently surprised by how good the drinks were. The staff was really nice as well! I was also happy with the brisket and fries! I really enjoyed the blue lights behind the liquors, it was a great environment touch, love it! The only thing I would suggest it a separate screen with a beer menu because we had to wait 5 minutes for the menu to come around between all the different slides.

This place was awesome. We wandered here after a night out at the waterproof, which is overly expensive. Came in here and felt like we were joke. The owner was super cool, John, and he was pouring up some of the shots for us and ensuring we had a good time. Place is very well kept up as well and all of the employees were great and ensure we were all taken care of quickly

Came here on a Sunday evening around 8pm. Parked on the street. The place was pretty empty, only two other parties there. Red Sangria - very wine heavy & strong. Hardwood Sour - good. Strong. Quesadilla (Spinach) - spinach is cooked nicely & not over cooked. I'm quite impressed - I feel like a lot of place overcooked the spinach. Salsa was quite good; made in house. Smoked Turkey Sandwich - good. Could have used more turkey, but it was still good. Sweet potato fries were spot on. Overall, service was good & food was good. Vibe was casual. One of the bartenders: Jeremy, is awesome. I would recommend & I'd come back.

First there was Uncle Uber's and then came Green Door Public House and now the brain trust behind these two great places strike again with Harwood Tavern. Located in the historic Lone Star Gas building, Harwood Tavern has the potential to quickly become a neighborhood favorite. Having been open a little more than a week, Harwood Tavern strikes the perfect balance between casual and upscale. It can easily accommodate a variety of needs from a business dinner to date night to casual dining. Having already visited a couple of times, I've tried a few different items on their ever-expanding menu. I went with a friend on my first visit (hey Kristie A) and we both order the wedge salad as a starter. It was served with Russian dressing and was very tasty. I went with burger while Kristie went with the fish and chips. I believe she with the cod only option (I think salmon is the other option). The burger, which comes with bacon, was delicious. It was a little overcooked (I asked for medium and it was more like medium) so I can only imagine how tasty it will be at the proper temperature. In case you're wondering, yes, they offered to make me another burger but I was too hungry to wait so I went with it. I had a taste of the cod and thought it delicious too. Since then I have tried Thai-Chili wings and the Redskins. The wings were really tasty with an appropriate amount of spice and sweetness. The Redskins it their take on potato skins and they were super tasty. The best way for me to describe them is to picture potato skins served similarly to au gratin potatoes. They hit the spot for me. I look forward to trying the meatloaf on my next visit. It was served to a few other people while I was there and I seriously felt like I was missing out. As to be expected, Harwood Tavern has a full bar which includes a nice selection of local beers and cider. On my initial visit, I went a selection from their cocktail menu called the Coronado. It was a gin based drink (can you believe I didn't have vodka?). No need to worry, on my next visit, I went with a few vodka based drinks; all created on the spot by Brooke who was working the bar. The dining area appears to be very comfy with enough space between tables to have some privacy. They have a nice patio that I look forward to experiencing once the weather permits. Thus far, I have sat indoor at the bar for my visits. The only complaint I have (and a few others mentioned it) is the bar seats seem a little low for the bar (or the bar is too tall for the seats). It works well if only having beverages but when attempting to eat it feels like a bit of a reach. Also, there are several TVs throughout the bar area. I met several staff members including the manager, chef and a couple of the bartenders. Steve manages the place does a great job of making sure everything is in order. Working the bar are a couple awesome ladies; Brook and Kay. Both did an excellent job of ensuring the bar was well attended to. Edward is the chef who has created some magical dishes. He mentioned the current menu is only temporary as they are expanding it the coming weeks to include more items. That said I was fortunate enough to sample a few things that might be coming and all I can say hurry up with the new items. As for parking, Harwood Tavern does not have a private parking lot. There is metered street parking and paid lots available nearby. If you're looking for a fun spot with delicious eats make your way to Harwood Tavern. Be sure to check the bar area as I just might be there.

We came in near closing time, but Emilia provided us great service and stayed attentive even though they were clearly packed. We were seated at a table near the door, and unfortunately it had a vomit smell. Whatever it was, my friend could not stand it and had to get up and step away from the table. We first thought the culprit was the paper drink coasters, but then the staff removed the door mat near us later on, so maybe someone puked on it and the smell lingered, even after it was cleaned up. Clear Mizu ($16): This has Sakura vermouth and bitters, so we ordered it. It tasted like straight up gin and was not good. It was actually one of the rare times my husband could not finish his drink. Kyoto Sunset ($15): This one wasn't bad and tasted like honeydew. The ingredients include honeydew Calpico, so that makes sense. Johnny Walker Black ($16): This was our friend's drink, which I think was just coke and Johnny Walker. Nothing special about the taste either. Given the smell and so-so/terrible cocktails, we will not be coming back or taking our friends here.

The service felt distant and rushed. Our server seemed unfamiliar with the menu, gave us conflicting information about drink availability, and rarely checked on us. We specifically asked not to be rushed, yet our entrées arrived while we were only a quarter of the way through our appetizer. At one point, our food was delivered while we were outside getting fresh air. The food was also disappointing. The scallops and chicken were extremely salty and lacked flavor, and the chicken was overcooked. When we brought it up, the server did little to address it. To top it off, we saw two large cockroaches around our table, which was especially noticeable in the dark dining room. The cocktails were the highlight, but overall, the service, food, pacing, and cleanliness did not meet expectations. One star. Very disappointing, and I'm not sure I'll be back.

The staff was very welcoming, and the other guests I encountered were friendly and sociable. The drinks were excellent. On my first visit, I had the Hugo Spritz, which was mixed to perfection. During my second visit, I tried the Bitter Lemon Soda, which was also very good--simple, refreshing, and without any overpowering flavors. I actually enjoyed The Bowen House so much that I went twice during my weekend trip to Dallas. It has an almost speakeasy-like atmosphere, with low lighting and a cozy, historic feel. It's also in a very walkable area, which made it easy to visit on foot. There is some parking available, although I would say it's somewhat limited. I don't think it would be the best spot for a very large group, but it would be perfect for a few friends getting together. I also appreciated that you can order a drink while waiting for a table or bar seating, which made the wait feel much more enjoyable. Overall, The Bowen House was one of my favorite places I visited while in Dallas. Between the atmosphere, welcoming service, and well-crafted drinks, it's definitely a place I would return to the next time I'm in town.

Special sauce with the nightly special stole the night at 9.5/10 - I'd order a bowl of that and call it a night! Magic Chicken Thighs were 6/10, overly salted and dry - side arugula salad was a salt bomb 2/10. Sweet potatoe purée was 7.5/10. Burger and fries were 7/10, solid and above average.
