I am a Jiujitsu competitor and he has been coaching me to develop more strength and endurance. My technique, endurance and, consequently, ability to lift heavier weights improved dramatically since I started. StayFit OC gym also regularly hosts Hyrox preparation bootcamps. My friend and I participated in the most recent one to prepare for Hyrox Anaheim 2024; it was both challenging and rewarding! Each set is perfectly timed to prioritize quality of the movement mindfully, rather than speeding through mindlessly. Parking was super easy, which is always a plus. UPDATE (AUGUST 2026)…read more I'm updating my original review because unfortunately my experience changed significantly over the two years I trained with Jonathan Brown (Body by Jonny). Based on my experience, I can no longer recommend Jonathan due to what I consider unethical and poor business practices. During what I didn't realize would be my final training session, I showed up mentally and physically exhausted. I pushed myself as far as I could but didn't have the energy to finish the full hour. I told Jonathan I wasn't feeling it, wished him a good weekend, and left about 15 minutes early. A short time later, I received a text from Jonathan stating that I was no longer welcome as a client, without any prior discussion or explanation. At the time, I had prepaid for 36 private training sessions and had 15 unused sessions remaining. Despite Jonathan being the one who terminated our training arrangement, I received only a partial refund--approximately 41% of what I had paid for the remaining sessions. When I questioned the amount, he essentially told me that I had already been given a good deal and that "the least" I could do was not give him attitude. I never negotiated his pricing or asked for a discount. I simply paid the rates he quoted me. Whatever price a business chooses to charge does not change the fact that I prepaid for services I ultimately did not receive. I was also never provided with or signed a contract stating that unused prepaid sessions would be forfeited or refunded at a reduced amount if he chose to terminate the training relationship. What I learned from this experience is that a good price isn't a bargain if it comes at the expense of the service, professionalism, and business practices you're paying for. Based on my experience including the abrupt termination and failure to fully refund my unused prepaid sessions I cannot recommend Jonathan Brown or Body by Jonny.

The integration of exercise into a client's daily routine for the sole purpose of having better control of the body was something that I had never heard from any trainer within the realm of the fitness industry- and I think that's what really sets MoveMentality apart from other trainers. I started remote training with Julian around April of 2021 and have stuck with him ever since! I decided on remote training primarily because I knew that I could handle working out on my own but just needed the framework for proper programming & guidance on my form for strength training. Fast forward almost a year, and my one rep max for deadlifts is sitting at around 395 lbs! From never having touched a barbell in my life to lifting 4 days a week really has been a dream come true for me. I really thought that I would only be a cardio king all my life, but alas here we are I really like how diligent and responsive Julian is! I will literally send him all these questions about certain movements or things I see people do in the gym for clarification. I even request that he adds some movements into my programming just to try out new things and to be more comfortable with the gym equipment. On top of that, his critiques on my form are always very helpful and super encouraging.
