    Mt. Baldy Hike

Have been coming to Apex for nearly 2 years now! Since I've started my training with Travis I have competed in 2 powerlifting competitions (placing 3rd and 1st) & about to compete in my 3rd. Travis is super knowledgeable and a great trainer. Not only does he have workouts at his gym but he also takes us on group hikes & holds beach workouts. He's helped me become a better athlete, which has improved other aspects in my life. Not only is Travis a cool guy but so is everyone else that attends this gym. Since my time at Apex I have been able to make great friends while improving my health. If you come to Travis with a goal, he will do everything in his power to get you there and further. Highly recommend.

So I began my fitness journey last year, and have experienced many failed trainings. My journey started at an LA Fitness in Riverside then I moved out to Irvine where I ended up at the LA Fitness off Barranca, in just 1 year alone I had to switch trainers 5 times!!! It was so frustrating because I could never get a routine down...until I met Devin. I started with Devin at LA, and I instantly liked what he had to offer me in terms of a training regimen. So when he told me he was leaving to start REDD Fitness, without hesitation I left to go with him. He's pushed me to do things I would have never done on my own and has made me feel more confident in my abilities to train mean and train hard. Despite my constant whining and crying, he will PUSH me to my limits and at the end of every training, I just want to crawl into fetal position and cry BUT IT IS WORTH IT. Because I feel better than I did when I began training with him this past summer and I am, without a doubt, gonna feel even better as I continue on this fitness journey with Devin as my trainer. To sum it up if you're looking for change, results, a challenge, and a place that doesn't give two shits about your whining this place is for you. This place is not for the lazy. So don't say I didn't warn you :p

The workouts are strong, but that's not the differentiator. The community is. You see the same people consistently, and over time it becomes a tight, supportive group. It's rare to find a gym where you actually look forward to who's going to be there, not just what's programmed. Programming is thoughtful and well-balanced -- strength + high-intensity cardio -- and it never gets stale. Chris (owner/instructor) is especially good at reading people and pushing you just past where you think your limit is. You end up doing more than you expected, regularly. There's also real connection beyond the floor. They organize occasional events -- I recently did a cooking class with ~20 women from the gym -- and it adds another layer to the experience. I've always been active, but this is the first time in 20+ years I've been this consistent. That's not accidental -- it's because of the environment. If you want a place that will push you, keep you accountable, and make you want to show up, this is it.

I love walking into the gym not knowing what to expect, and being surprised by a new challenge each time. It keeps things fresh, fun, and far from boring--even after all these years! They've also added some new equipment, which has taken the workouts to another level--more dynamic, more engaging, and definitely more effective. The thought and creativity put into each class really show. This place isn't just a gym--it's a community and a source of daily motivation for both physical and mental health. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a fitness routine that keeps you on your toes.

The results speak for themselves. The physical changes are noticeable, but more importantly, the consistency, energy, and overall mindset shift have been just as impactful. What truly sets this location apart is the coaching staff and the community. The coaches strike the perfect balance between motivating, encouraging, and keeping things fun (even during the toughest sets). They push you when you need it, support you when struggling, and genuinely care about your progress. Equally important is the community. What started as a group of people working out together has naturally evolved into real friendships. That kind of environment is rare and important to me. If it were not for the great people here, I would have stuck with my other Fitness membership. Speaking of which, in full transparency - I still have another fitness membership elsewhere. However, I have not touched it in months. If one is looking for a place that delivers results, keeps you engaged, and surrounds you with the right people - this F45 Tustin location is the place to be.

They have many class options but they do seem to get busy because they're waitlisted on the app. I managed to passport one Saturday morning. I liked the trainers, the vibe and the music. The DJ arrived for the class after mine so I missed out on that but I still liked the music. I noticed the gym was air conditioned which was different to mine. The instructor's were great at walking around and giving you tips on your workouts. The workout was amazing as always, it's really as hard as you decide to push yourself. So you could have an easy workout by doing body weight exercises or you could lift heavy. Easy parking in the lot up front.

The whole space has such a calm, boho, peaceful vibe... dim lighting, chill light volume music, sometimes relaxing candle scents in the front, and beautiful chandeliers. The Tustin location is very spacious, two rows of reformers and tons of room to really stretch and breathe. The reformers are Rialto reformers, where you lift the top to adjust the springs and rings. They're a little older, but it can add to the charm. Every instructor brings great variety to class, which keeps classes interesting and refreshing with something new to look forward to. Sometimes we use sticks for balance, balls for abs, loops for core and leg work, and sometimes dumbbells too, so it really feels like a full-body workout every time. They do count slowly during movements for that deep burn. The instructors are also attentive about form and always ask beforehand if anyone has injuries, which is helpful for me and my knee for modifications. Little cubbies under the benches for shoes and phones. Plenty of parking overall, just be mindful of the green 30-minute parking spots; there's more parking behind the buildings.

The studio is much larger than your typical boutique spot, which gives it a more commercial feel. The instructor was nice and proactive about offering help throughout the session. However, because the class size is large, you lose that personalized, small-group attention. I also noticed the equipment was looking a bit run down and could probably use some maintenance. It was a solid challenge physically, but if you prefer a more intimate environment, this might feel a bit too busy. Good for a sweat, but I personally prefer a smaller studio setting. Come early because it's in a plaza with many businesses and you may need to park in the back lot.

UPDATE (AUGUST 2026)…read more I'm updating my original review because unfortunately my experience changed significantly over the two years I trained with Jonathan Brown (Body by Jonny). Based on my experience, I can no longer recommend Jonathan due to what I consider unethical and poor business practices. During what I didn't realize would be my final training session, I showed up mentally and physically exhausted. I pushed myself as far as I could but didn't have the energy to finish the full hour. I told Jonathan I wasn't feeling it, wished him a good weekend, and left about 15 minutes early. A short time later, I received a text from Jonathan stating that I was no longer welcome as a client, without any prior discussion or explanation. At the time, I had prepaid for 36 private training sessions and had 15 unused sessions remaining. Despite Jonathan being the one who terminated our training arrangement, I received only a partial refund--approximately 41% of what I had paid for the remaining sessions. When I questioned the amount, he essentially told me that I had already been given a good deal and that "the least" I could do was not give him attitude. I never negotiated his pricing or asked for a discount. I simply paid the rates he quoted me. Whatever price a business chooses to charge does not change the fact that I prepaid for services I ultimately did not receive. I was also never provided with or signed a contract stating that unused prepaid sessions would be forfeited or refunded at a reduced amount if he chose to terminate the training relationship. What I learned from this experience is that a good price isn't a bargain if it comes at the expense of the service, professionalism, and business practices you're paying for. Based on my experience including the abrupt termination and failure to fully refund my unused prepaid sessions I cannot recommend Jonathan Brown or Body by Jonny.
