I really enjoyed my visit here. We were looking for a place close by that had a playground for my 3 year old to burn some energy and where my husband and I could have a drink or two. This place was exactly what we were looking for. As it got later, couples without kids trickled in. You can tell this is a place to go with or without kids. A band was getting ready to start playing and people started transitioning over towards the stage. We did not try the food but looked like the usual bar food. What a great day to spend a Saturday Yelp event at Backyard on Broadway . Cool breeze just hanging out with people again was lovely. The place seems to have a great vibe to it. Chill place to hangout. We were served "chicken on a stick" and oh boy! Beeeest chicken by far, moist, juicy just the right flavor and spices. In addition we ordered "I can't believe it's not a burger",it did does look and taste and feels like a regular burger did not disappoint and "truffle parmesan fries " nice. compliment sides for the chicken on a stick. This was my first time here, the minute I walked in I was impressed with what I saw. This place has a real homelike feel to it with plenty of room to entertain guests including a stage out in back. They have games to entertain kids such as mega jinga blocks and several cornhole boards. They serve food and I regret not being able to try their pizzas, as they looked and smelt GREAT. I'll have to come back to try one. They have a good variety of beer on tap as well as a full bar. The margaritas also looked very good, so I guess I'll have to try those next visit as well. I recommend this place especially on beautiful days such as today, but they even have indoor seating so it's good for any time the weather may not cooperate for outdoor sitting. read more

A little difficult to figure out the system to get service. Not enough wait staff when we went. Love that there is outdoor seating. They have umbrellas but could definitely use more shade. Nice that they A small playground for folks with kiddos. Once we did get service they were really nice and took care of us. This review is for the bar area. The drinks are good, don't get me wrong, but the bartender did not deserve a $30 tip off my tab. I did not see the tiny sign on the wall and was charged 20% gratuity for my bar tab that was over $100. Read the fine print and close out your tab before you are forced to tip an insane amount on your night out! read more

Very bad experience. Went for lunch with my daughter and it wasn't packed and I had to wait 20 mins to order a tea for my daughter. The waitress never checked on us and who knows where she went. Had to have other people do her job. I doubt I'd ever come back. If you wanna be treated like you don't exist go there. If there was a negative 5 that's what I'd give this place. No one wants to go somewhen and be ignored. Not a good feeling when I left. I originally went to eat and see the Astros game. Overall a nice place to visit. Most importantly kid friendly. The inside is quite small and could probably accommodate 1 big party if needed. The outdoor area is nice for children but not sure why the entire back is covered and not the play area. The best thing on the menu we had was hands down the nachos. Great portion and flavor! The pizza was overly cheesy for my liking but they were generous on the toppings. We did have an issue with the chicken sandwich looking burnt/overcooked. The way the bartender are cold didn't even let me finish my order so we had to go back and start over. I didn't even want to eat my food there I ordered Togo, because she just made me feel like I did something wrong. it was so uncomfortable. I wasn't rude it was just extremely off putting. We went with friends, sat outside and placed our order for drinks and food. Our server returned with drinks and explained that the kitchen was only serving the late night snacks. It was well before the cutoff time, just shortly after 8pm. They had an eclectic band and we were enjoying them but left to eat dinner somewhere else. The established has posted times but they don't follow or honor their published times. Also, don't expect them to update events, like live bands or who's performing. We hit this spot with a few friends and five kids. Lovely little back area for kids to play. Lots of fans going but still crazy hot for an afternoon in Texas. The food was fine. Nothing to write home about but nothing to complain about. The sweet potatoe fries were our favorite thing, as well as the truffle fries and aoli. Great drinks though! My wife and I decided to try out Backyard on Broadway and here's what we thought. 1st I want to say this is a very kid friendly bar so if you have kiddos and want to get out enjoy a drink and let the kids loose this is a great spot. They have the Astro Turf similar to Bigz Burger Joint if you have been there. On the opposite side of the scale inside and patio seating will get you away from the kiddo action if your not into it and at 9pm no minors are allowed. All in all for us it was a great hybrid bar (and we don't even have kids) My wife had the dirty martini test (Which is her way to judge if any bar can make a decent drink) and they passed. I went with an IPA they have a full bar good beer selection on tap and cans. So definitely give their drinks a try. We didn't have the opportunity to try their BBQ (not sure if this is their main menu or a temp one) but the food was looking good coming out and the the bbq aroma was smelling all sorts of right. Great location for what I'm coining (ha ha ) a hybrid bar. Family friendly and for us without kiddos still a great joint to hang out. read more

This was my first time coming to Backyard on Broadway with my 2 kids on Spring Break. First glance the place looks cool, kid friendly and not busy for a Wednesday afternoon. While our server was very sweet, I waited from 2:13-2:42 for my first beer. Waters for the kids were brought out quickly which was nice for a 70 degree day. Ordered two beers that were out of stock hence the wait time; a local hefe and michelob ultra, so I opted for the canned hazy IPA. My kids wanted the chicken strips for their meal..to which they were out but had grilled cheese, cheese pizza and a hot dog. Service was also really slow due to it not being busy at all but they may have had training or something going on as they were on boarding new servers. I had nowhere to be and it was a beautiful day so little to complain about. I'd give this place another try for sure; perhaps during a busier time to note any differences. read more

I hosted a family birthday party at Backyard on Broadway. Everyone was so helpful and accommodating!! Everything we asked for with our reservation was provided and coordinating with Dre from management was great. Our waitress was helpful and attentive, too. This is an awesome location for a group celebration; the kids loved playing on the playground and the adults enjoyed pitchers of beer. We happened to be there on a very busy day, but the food and drink came out fast and everyone had fun! This place is organized and they know how to accommodate parties well! read more

I love the vibe of this place, very relaxed atmosphere, super cute women's bathroom and a nice photoshoot spot right outside it for those who are into that. There's a lot to love at Backyard on Broadway, and it's becoming my go-to spot when I'm in the neighborhood. Tasty food (though not impressed with the prices), AMAZING wavy fries that are like potatoes wedges, lots of indoor seating near outlets and no restrictions on laptop use, ample parking, and friendly wait staff and patrons. I also saw a sign for yoga Sunday mornings; haven't confirmed this but I do really want to check it out if they have it! My most recent bartender/waitress, Sue, was so down to earth and friendly, and made sure to regularly check in on me. I loved her energy and look forward to seeing her next time I'm there. So far I have only had great experiences with the staff there :) Cons - As of early July 2021, I didn't see any precautions being taken for COVID, including no signs to wear it or any enforcement at all, including the staff. Plenty of patrons don't mind this, but I do so that's why I'm making a note of it. The happy hour prices also aren't much of a deal at all, $8 cocktails, so... Not much else to say, overall a great spot and not too crowded during daylight hours! read more

We came in today after finding our Main Street was closed all weekend for July 4th. I've had this place bookmarked for a while but haven't visited before. There is limited seating inside, and while hot outside there are tons of tables and fans outside. Since the music inside was really loud, we decided to try outside. The fans made it much more manageable. I ordered the Old Fashioned (my go to) and my husband ordered coke. Our daughter ordered water. The play ground was fun but in the full sun so pretty hot. We were the only ones present on a Saturday at 11:30am. Our waitress was very friendly. We ordered the chips and salsa & queso. They were average at best. We wouldn't order them again. I ordered the Me Sooo Spicy chicken sandwich. It was a chicken thigh instead of the typical breast. The sauce was a combination of sweet and spicy. The pickled relish was sweet as well. I wasn't a huge fan, but my husband loved it. He's more a fan of sweet than I am. The breading was really good though. My daughter had a kids cheese pizza. It was a large serving and really good. We also ordered a pepperoni and bell pepper pizza. The pizza was really, really good. I had a couple of old fashioned and a shot of peanut butter bourbon. Both were great! I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. The service here is not great. The only pro I have is that my toddler enjoyed the playground. The outside area does not look well maintained. Tables and chairs are wobbly and unclean. I found the cleanest one but after my toddler stuck her finger in mysterious white goo I went inside to ask if somebody could clean the table. The bartender said to find a waitress and tell her. I went to the waitress area where one was trying to untie a balloon. After about 5 min of standing there, unsuccessful in getting her attention, and her still messing with the balloon, we went back outside to find one there. It took about 15-20 min to finally get some help. The food was blasé at best. I was really excited to come to this restaurant but disappointed with this experience. read more

We went to this place right after it opened, so this experience is purely based on our initial visit. I was excited to see what was being built at the Broadway street every time I drive home from work. So naturally once Backyard on Broadway opened - we were there. Place is huge! There is so many different things that you can do during your visit from classic bar games to more outdoor games like a corn hole. Outside patio is amazing so is the top deck. Definitely a great place to spend your today night, kick back, relax and have some fun. I got some mixed drinks and my husband got simple rum and coke on rocks. Drinks were pretty good, with very generous pour of alcohol - huge thanks to our bartender. For our food we got street tacos and they were delicious! Reminded me that good street tacos that you can get on one of those local food trucks, so very tasty. There's plenty of parking, so come along and bring some friends. I'd gladly come back to this location to see how they're doing year after they opened and have some more of those tacos. read more

I came here on January 1st to watch a college football bowl; I had called earlier and the guy answered said they have the game I'm looking for on several TVs. I arrived around 8:00 p.m. and not many people here - perfect! Service was great (more than 5 star service); they have a good selection of draft beers but I stuck w/ Miller Lite - very cold; I ordered a pizza (bacon was not among the toppings listed but they accommodated me) - served hot and it was really good. I have been here previously in the past decade from when it was the Bar on Broadway (kinda a biker bar) to when it was something else (I think it was called Backyard on Broadway, too - it was terrible during that time - see my earlier reviews on that one); this IS NOT THE SAME PLACE or they have changed dramatically; I came here on the advice of a friend who had been here recently on several occasions; it may be my new go-to for big screen sports. They have the outdoor thing going which, apparently, everyone likes but I did not go out there. 5 stars for all of it this time - more stars if this app allowed it. read more

Four stars for having something for all ages and food tastes. We had about 10 people and found a table easily on a Saturday around 1:00, outside. The table was shaded and we had a good view of the play scape for the kiddos. The beer/cider selection was decent. The food was good enough. Our family of 5 came here to eat, drink, and watch the Dallas game. We checked in with the hostess and she pointed out a table that would be ready soon. We waited for the table to be cleared and as we approached the table another guest sat down and said she had been promised the table by someone at the bar. Fortunately another table was about to be be available so we didn't argue to point. However, before we left I did mention to the manager what had happened and that they should make it clear that only the hostess should take care of reserving and seating guests. She said that this could not have happened to us which i took as calling me a lair. Then I had her verify with the bartender that it actually happened she made no attempt to correct the situation. I paid out $200 tab and as I left I gave the manager one more chance to admit that they were wrong and she refused. We will never go back there again. read more

Only issue was that service was very slow even around 4:30 on Friday when it wasn't busy at all. Our server was always no where to be found and other servers said they couldn't help out table. Saturday with the family. I love college ball and my kids can only be entertained for 2 seconds with football. Backyard is the perfect get away for such occasions. I get football and the kids get a playground. WIN WIN.!!! Backyard has its good qualities as well as it's opportunities. The food was ok. It was good enough to fill the belly while drinking and socializing. Customer service is exactly like the website says, laid back... we didn't have anyone come to our table to see how we were. But maybe that's how they run things there. I didn't like the fact that I had to go get my own food from the bar. It was sitting there for who knows how long. Guess the cooks didn't know how to time the dishes to come out at the same time, pizza came out five minutes after the fries and wings. Good thing they played the game I wanted to watch and the kids were entertained. This was a Saturday opening meal (11am), so maybe next time I'll go watch the band play... we shall see. read more
