0 stars. Pat came out to my property and did an assessment and talked a good story about what his company can do to help with my pond issue. Even suggested helping us plant some local plants and stuff. He said he was going to send us some proposals and cost estimates the following week. A week past and I sent them an email to follow up. Nothing. Another week later, I sent another email. Still nothing. I finally called them and the admin person said they don't think they want to take on the job and asked me if it made sense!? I said it's OK if they feel they are not competent enough to do the job but it did not make sense to not inform the prospective customer and not even respond to them. The team at Backyard Ponds did an INCREDIBLE reconstruction of our backyard pond. Hillary, Hunter and Harvey could not have been more professional and were truly committed to restoring our neglected pond. I can say without hesitation that they treated our pond like it was their pond. We could not be happier. We now have three koi in the pond and I could say that my son names them after Hillary, Hunter and Harvey...but he didn't. That would make a great ending to the review though, wouldn't it? read more

Contacted Backyard Ponds about a stagnant pond leak in the absence of any visible tear in the liner. I had noticed measurable erosion behind the liner, in one spot which I speculated caused the liner to stretch where the water weight was heaviest; an unexpected and unusual occurrence. Jennifer returned my call and agreed that photos would help in explaining the problem. I complied by text message and asked her to call upon receipt. She did not. Nor, did she respond to a second request to indicate if Backyard Ponds was not interested in effecting repair. Again, no response. Very unprofessional. read more

Backyard Ponds keeps my small pond in tip-top shape. Each spring, the pond is emptied, the muck cleared out, the fish and plants replaced and it is ready for another season. They take the pond muck and add it to my compost. When the crew leaves, all is cleaned up and taken away. This year, the crew added a very sturdy net to keep out the leaves and whatever predator which was stealing my fish. read more

We have been with Backyard Ponds over 20 years. They have helped us build/re-build our ponds, select plants, deal with fish challenges, maintain water clarity and solve leaking problems caused by chipmunks. If it involves a pond, they know what and how to solve the issue. The staff is always very professional, knowledgeable and straightforward. We have them clean the ponds at least once a year and have always been happy with the results. Any concerns are addressed immediately. They treat my pond like it was their own and I really appreciate the care given to the plants and fish. I hired Backyard Ponds to do a routine cleaning of my water feature, which had reduced water flow. Two workers from the company visited my house and later left the property without notice and without shutting off my hose, which flooded my patio. When I complained to the owner, she sought to blame the problem on me, claiming her men had told me to turn the hose off myself. Furthermore, the men did not restore the water feature to proper function: After their visit, the water flow improved for about a day, but then the pump began blowing its fuse and the water flow dropped so low that I had to shut it off. Despite these outcomes, the company billed me $407.50 for a one hour and 15 minute visit. I asked the owner to send a different technician to restore the fountain to working order without any further charge, and she agreed, but the man she sent did not fix the fountain: He just told me I needed new pump equipment, which the owner then tried to sell me. When I asked the owner to reduce the $407.50 charge in light of the fact that her men had (1) failed to fix the water feature and (2) flooded my patio, she refused. read more
