We recently moved to Novato and have been trying out different restaurants. Came here for lunch on a Sunday. My wife had a burger...rated it best ever and I had a very good waffle with fruit.Their fruit bowl was terrific, a wide variety of fresh fruit not just strawberries and melons.They sell homemade jam we tasted a bought blackberry ..it was delicious really home made and not to sweet. When I review, I try to point out pitfalls in menu's even if I love the place so that is why I'm giving it 4 stars but you needto know what to avoid on the menu. Hope this helps! Only place better in town is Marvins for breakfast. Food is great, service is great, and there is less of a line on the weekends than Marvins. However, they lose one star due to a few strange things about the food....maybe its just me but there is something really strange and unpallatable about their Hollandaise Sauce. Feel free to try a Bennedict once but honestly, if I were you I'd ask to taste the Hollandaise sauce before ordering. The chef either doesn't know how to make it right or has some kind of personal twist that I personally do not like. Its hard to explain what is wrong with it but I'm not the only person in my group of local friends who have said the same thing. One other thing and sadly because its the places namesake.....the BACON is coated in SUGAR! Steer clear of their very expensive "Honey Bee" bacon unless you want candy coated meat. It really is bacon dipped in honey and fried up and is truly sickeningly sweet! If you don't like sweets on your meat, be careful on the bacon in general as all of it is coated in something sugary. However, the sausages are AMAZING so go for that. Finally, the hashbrowns are pretty bland and watery. So other than the bacon, hashbrowns, and hollandaise sauce, the menu is fantastic! read more

Dined at Bacon today for Mother's Day. It was ok. I was seated by a dusty potted plant and it was also drafty as the door was left open. Received my coffee and a refil and also requested 2% milk which was provided. My son's hot chocolate looked good too. I ordered a waffle which was great and came with fruit salad and cream - yummo, and a side of bacon. My son had scrambled eggs, bacon and hash browns and a pancake on the side and he ate the lot. All in all a good experience but I am still waiting for my side of bacon - they forgot and I even reminded them. It was deducted from our final bill and yes, we will probably go back but perhaps when it is a little quieter... As a restaurant called Bacon, they need to focus on more Bacon emphasized dishes as this did not seem the case. read more

I'm never one to write restaurant reviews but I feel the need to write this to warn others because my husband and I felt incredibly sick after eating here. I've honestly never paid for such poor quality food that seemed to be microwaved. I had "eggs", which I'm pretty sure were anything but- maybe fake egg beaters sitting in some kind of oil? My husband had a "prosciutto" panini and it turned out being a strange processed ham on bread. His fries were drenched in oil and tasted like chinese food wonton crackers. We were super hungry but could barely get our meals down. I've felt nauseous for the past 24 hours after eating here. Luckily it didn't turn out to be food poisoning. In all honesty, do yourself a favor and choose a different restaurant to dine at. read more

Bacon can't be beat in any category- they has a great atmosphere, friendly waitstaff, and Tien is a master chef. I am continually amazed at how delicious everything on the menu is, and you won't find a better choice for breakfast or lunch anywhere in the Bay Area. Visiting Novato and this was probably the best choice we could have made for breakfast. My husband had the Angus Steak patty and eggs and I had the bacon and egg panini. Our meals came really quick and they were great. The Angus patty was great, the bacon was very flavorful and the ciabatta bread was soft and fresh. The staff was attentive and we commented several times though breakfast "this is really good." Seriously disappointed. We all tried a variety of dishes. First, the Corned Beef Hash was seriously over salted . My husband who salts every thing . Chocked on the first bite saying it was over salted. And didn't eat it at all. Our friend who ordered the Buttermilk pancakes said they were ok. But expected them to be larger for the $$$ Think plate size versus kids size I had to order something bacon so I went with the BLT. Also over salted b ut flavorful. I have to be honest - when it comes to breakfast in Novato, I put another place above Bacon. When I first went there after it had just opened, I was not very impressed. I felt the "Million dollar bacon" was not only over-priced, but FAR too sweet to be "bacon". But, as time has moved forward, the ownership has REALLY stepped up the game. The recipes have changed and the pricing has moved away from the wanna-be Mill Valley mindset. I will honestly say that this will now be a staple on my rotation. The menu is very unique for the area. The frittatas are awesome. The pancakes are very good although I'm not a fan of the syrup they use. The menu's variety and versatility makes this a safe bet to find something you. What really surprised me, as a meat and potatoes guy - was the healthy frittata. Wow! If you want to go light, you have to try it. It will surprise you, in my opinion. Plenty of space. Friendly service. Only complaint about the service is that, sometime, you can't hear one of the soft-spoken ladies - who is VERY sweet - but you just can't hear her. read more

We found this restaurant on Yelp because we did not have enough time to wait in line for a table at Marvin's restaurant down the street. The California fritatta was very good with large portions. They have us two pieces of breast because we split the plate. The wait staff was slow and forgetful, but our waiter said out was his fourth day and the restaurant opened two weeks ago. For a place named Bacon, they are very stingy with the bacon. I had a frittata called the Honey bee, it was supposed to have honey bee bacon, mushrooms avocado. I think it had about a half of a piece of bacon in it total. This restaurant should also be listed as a $$$ not a $$. read more

Finally, a Vietnamese restaurant in Novato. And it's good! We went on the opening night. There were a few service glitches, but that's expected. The Pho (pronounced "fuh" not "foe") and the spring rolls were wonderful. Can't wait to go back and try the other menu items. read more

This place really is as good as it gets. It is so small, unassuming, and in downtown Novato. My favorite restaurant is Taki Japanese Cuisine in Ignacio, and so I have to say that that is the best restaurant in Novato. However, all things considered, Bacon on Grant Ave. may be the best restaurant I have ever been to. The staff is amazing, yes. The wait times are fantastic, yes. And yes, the prices are really reasonable. But none of that is why this may be the best restaurant I have ever been to. (I am 34 and eat out a LOT) The thing that makes Bacon great is a) The quality of the ingredients and b) the level of execution. These two things combine in Bacon to really bring the experience home into something beyond what you would ever expect. JUST THEIR FRUIT is much higher quality than I can ever find for myself at a farmers market or grocery store. I don't know where they source their fruit, but it's the same with all of their ingredients. I highly recommend the Honey Bee Fritatta, and the Oceanic Fritatta. I was happy to see the fresh fruit but the potatoes were very buttery. Service was good but prices are too high. The decor, which hasn't been updated since Tuscany, doesn't lend itself to a place called Bacon. The acoustics are also quite bad. When the place gets busy you can't hear your companions. I was disappointed at the lack of specialty bacon dishes and the fact that few dishes came with a side of bacon. The menu has "millionaire bacon" but has no description of it.
